Being the small town that Harmony is and a relatively new soap opera there are very few core families in the show. A small number of Mother figures and about twice that number of daughters. I have at times wondered about the various Mothers and Daughters and who the daughters really take after. Do the Daughters take after their own Mothers..... or someone else? We are talking about their actions and attitudes and not physical appearance.
First the Mothers:

Grace Bennett; Kind, Gentle, Honest and Meek. Grace is actually one of the strongest and bravest characters on the show. Having to deal with losing the first 20 some years of her life, Grace has rebuilt her life and created a family, a home with Sam Bennett. She reaches out to people and tries to help them. Grace believes in facing her problems, not running from them. She is more than willing to face any foe, any threat to her or her family head on.

Ivy Crane; The soon to be Ivy Winthrop has reveled in her social position as Mrs. Julian Crane, but regreted not following her heart and marrying Sam Bennett. When Sam re-entered Ivy's life.... she pursued him with the intent of rekindling their love, regardless of the cost to her or to Sam. Ivy befriended Grace and manuvered herself into Sam and Grace's lives. Ivy followed the Bennetts and interfered with their Romantic get-aways trying to get Sam back into her bed. Ivy even went so far as to engage in Blackmail to keep tabs on Sam and to obtain her goals.

Pilar Lopez-Fitzgerald; Quiet, Reserved, Private, Honest and Loyal. Pilar is perhaps the strongest of Harmony's Mothers. A single mother for the past 15 years, Pilar has struggled to keep her family together and done so with Luis' help. Outwardly Pilar is meek and longsuffering, willing to endure demeaning treatment from the Cranes and from Rebecca. However.... when it comes to her family, their safety, well being and happiness, Pilar is fericous and very protective. Pilar has no problems seeking out and confronting those that Threaten her family. Nor has she any problems getting physical in these confrontations.... when nessecary. Something that Rebecca has learned the hard way on more then one ocassion. Pilar believes in direct action against the person responsible, confronting them in person and dealing with them personally.

Rebecca Hotchkiss; Wanting to become the next Mrs. Julian Crane. Rebecca has engaged in the personal destruction of Ivy Crane by learning and outing Ivy's biggest secret.... Ethan's paternity. Note, this was done to punish Ethan also, for dumping Gwen, but Ivy was always Rebecca's target. Furthermore.... Rebecca started a torrid affair with Julian in order gain control over him and to position herself to become his wife when he divorced Ivy. This was also the way she became Mrs. Jonathan Hotchkiss.

Eve Russell; The seemingly perfect Doctor Eve Russell has a sorid past with Julian Crane and an arrest for illegal drug use. To conceal her past sins Eve has engaged in lies, manipulations and bribery to hide her past. When it appeared that her past was coming out... Eve committed arson, violated her Hypocratic Oath, betrayed Doctor/Patient privilege and betrayed her friendship with Sam and Grace.

The Daughters:

Kay Bennett; Kay has secretly loved Miguel all of her life. She was getting ready to tell Miguel how she felt when Charity arrived on the scene and she and Miguel fell in love. To get Miguel back... Kay has tried to seduce him with the intent of becoming pregant. As for Charity.... Kay has tried to discredit Charity and manipuliate her into staying away from Miguel. Furthermore she has tried to get Charity committed and left her in the path of danger more than once. Kay has gone to extremes in her behavior to get Miguel to love her... even to the point of selling her soul to Hecuba.

Jessica Bennett; Jessica has been the thorn in Kay's side all of her life. Somewhat mischievious, Jessica has a strong belief in right and wrong and in love. Often Jessica has helped to thwart Kay's schemes to break up Miguel and Charity.

Charity Standish; Kind, Gentle and trusting, Charity has had a hard life. Raised in relative seclusion and losing her mother and most of her memory a couple of years ago she has put her life back together with her Aunt Grace and her family. Charity tries to face her fears and her problems with courage and the support of Miguel and her family. Yet she still reaches out to and tries to help out others.

Sheridan Crane; Even with her troubled childhood and the lack of love and support from her father. Sheridan has grown up valueing Honesty, Dedication, Loyalty and Love. She is supportive of Ethan and wants him to be happy. When push comes to shove she'll fight for her happiness and the happiness of those she loves. She has fought to be with Luis even against the expressed wishes of her Father and Brother and their lies and manipulations. Confronting Alistair and Julian, with and without Luis, to be her own woman and to find her own happiness.

Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald; Ever since she was a little girl, Theresa has dreamed of becoming Mrs. Ethan Crane. To this end she took a job with Ivy Crane, against Pilar's wishes, and manipulated her way into Ethan's life. She befriended Ethan and allowed Gwen to believe she was her friend in order to win Ethan's heart. She lied to Gwen, to Ethan, to Pilar, to Luis and to Ivy in order to obtain her goal. She even went as far as to help with the the planning of Gwen's wedding in order to be with Ethan. She has achieved her goal, won Ethan's heart, but only at a terrible cost to everyone around her, especially Ethan. She has done this with no regard to the consequences of her actions or those she has hurt.

Gwen Hotchkiss; Socialite Gwen Hotchkiss is a successful business woman working in her family's business. Since the first time she met Ethan Crane, she has loved him and dreamed of being his wife. Gwen turned down Ethan's early marriage porposals because she felt that he was doing it becuase he had to or he was expected to, not because he really wanted to marry her. When she became suspecious of Theresa, she confronted her and discussed her suspecions with Ethan, Ivy and Sheridan. When Gwen's suspecions were re-ignited, she again confronted Theresa and Ethan, only to lied to by both of them. When Ethan called off the wedding the night before, Gwen blamed Theresa and went after her with a baseball bat. The insuing fight was nothing less then 'MUST SEE TV'. Following the wedding being called off, Gwen was guided by Rebecca in her efforts to regain Ethan's Heart and ended up being sucked in to Rebeeca's schemes to become the next Mrs. Julian Crane. Through out all of this, Gwen's goals have been to expose Theresa as the treacherous bitch she is, to regain Ethan's heart and to become his bride. Gwen has been mostly Honest, Loyal and Compassionate to her family and friends. Fighting for her happiness by confronting those that have threatened it or destroyed it.

Simone Russell; Simone has been Kay's sidekick, confidant and concious. She has helped Kay in some of her schemes to get Miguel but has tried to stop her from going off the deep end or hurting anyone. Simone has a major crush on Chad and believes that he returns her affections, not knowing that he loves Whitney. She has stood by Chad from the first time they met, even when there were some vicious lies going around about him. Even going so far as to standing up to her parents on his behalf. Simone is mostly Honesty and very loyal to her family and friends.

Whitney Russell; Theresa's best friend, biggest supporter and most loyal confidant. While she supposedly values honesty. She has lied to protect Theresa from Gwen, the Cranes and her family while Theresa chased after Ethan. She supplied Theresa with a phony Boyfriend to save Theresa from being exposed. She even forced Chad into keeping the fact that Theresa knew about Ethan's paternity before he did, from Ethan. Furthermore, Whitney has lied to and decieved Simone about her relationship with Chad and her true feelings for him. All in the name of protecting her little sister.
 

Based on their actions and attitudes alone. Which of these Mothers do Harmony's Daughters take after? How would you match them up as being Mother and Daughter?

Here's my list.

Grace Bennett: Jessica and Charity are definitely her daughters. While Sheridan, Gwen and Simone are possibly her daughters.

Ivy Crane: Theresa is her daughter and happily following in her foot steps.

Pilar Lopez-Fitzgerald: Sheridan and Gwen are her daughters. While Simone and Jessica are possibly her daughters as well.

Rebecca Hotchkiss: Kay is her daughter and should take lessons from this supposed master of scheming and seduction.

Eve Russell: Whitney is a her daughter and a chip off of the old block. She has protected Theresa with the same intensity that Eve has protected her secrets and with some of the same tactics.
