The Awakening - (Evian) - Chapter Thirteen

Chapter XIII
The next morning Eve was awakened to muffled screaming and loud smacking
sounds. She shot straight up from her spot on the bed next to Julian, who
was still sleeping by the way, then rushed out of the room they spent the
night in, heading in the direction the source of the noise was coming from.
Once there, she stood staring at the door in front of her for a moment before
placing her left hand on the knob, twisting it then pushing it open. When
the door opened, the sight before her caused her eyes to grow huge from shock
and her breath to lodge deep within her throat.
“What the hell…” Mumbling in disbelief, Eve turned around slamming the
door shut behind her and covered her eyes as fast as she could. She hadn’t
been able to place a finger on it last night, but after seeing what she just
saw now, only confirmed the nasty suspicions playing in the back of her
mind since they met, and she knew for certain that she wasn’t losing it.
She had smelted his scent before…
Suddenly, she began shaking then snarled in total disgust…she didn’t need
this sh*t right now…
Damn it!
Slowly, she slid her hands down from her face and came face to face with
a worried looking Julian.
“Are you alright?” he asked, worry obvious laced in his voice, “You ran
out of the room so fast. I got scared.” He whispered softly.
All Eve could do was nod because trying to form any words to say just
wasn’t working.
Julian raised a brow, Eve was acting weird and she was blocking the door
behind her.
“What’s going on in that room?”
Silence-
“Eve…”
“Nothing.” She finally managed to squeak out.
“You sure?”
She nodded again, “Yeah…” then gulped nervously, “everything is fine.
C’mon, let’s go.” Eve said in a hurried tone of voice before taking Julian
by the hand and literally dragging him away from that room.
A few hours had passed and now everyone was wide-awake. They were all
scattered about in a small circle in the same room from the night before…everyone
except for Eve. The minute she and Julian entered the room and found everyone
there, Eve made sure to distance herself from everyone including Julian…and
he didn’t like that one bit.
For the next twenty minutes, everyone pitched ideas back and forth trying
to come up with a foolproof plan in dealing with Dante and Amon together,
but Julian wasn’t even paying attention, he was staring dead smack at Eve.
He noticed that every time certain people spoke, Eve’s face would twist in
a look he’d never seen before and her eyes would flash light blue for a
second then return to normal. What the hell was going on?!
Julian was brought out of his own thoughts when he heard someone calling
his name.
“Julian, what do you think?” Joseph asked as he waited for Julian to reply.
“I’m sorry what?” Julian blinked his eyes in confusion.
Sighing, “About our plan. You were listening weren’t you?” Joseph said
dryly.
Scratching the back of his head, “No. Sorry, my mind was elsewhere...”
Julian trailed off then went back to staring at Eve.
Joseph took notice that something was bothering Julian, so he followed
the direction in which Julian was staring. When his sight landed on Eve,
he rolled his eyes and then sighed…
He should’ve known…
Arianna, for her part had been watching Eve as well. Eve knew her secret
now. She didn’t think anyone would ever find out...well not yet anyways.
Slowly, she stood up from her chair and walked over to where Eve was standing.
She took a deep breath before speaking.
“Eve can we speak somewhere privately for a moment?” she asked then waited.
Eve never turned to even look at her nor give her an answer before abruptly
walking away. Julian blinked a few times to get over the shock of Eve’s behavior
before standing up to follow her out of the room. He was going to get some
answers now.
Joseph walked over to where Eve left Arianna standing and watched as Julian
followed after her. He then turned and saw the hurt look on Arianna’s face.
“What’s the matter Arianna? What just happened between you and Eve?” he
asked her in a tender voice.
“Nothing.” she whispered painfully then gulped. “Everything is fine.”
“You don’t have to lie to me and don’t say you’re not because I know you
too well.” He replied.
“Really, it was nothing.” Arianna reassured him with a smile, but Joseph
knew that was a lie, that she was hiding something.
“Hey look,” Gabriel finally made his presence known, “we still have to
come up with a plan. I don’t know what’s going on with Eve and Julian, but
hopefully it’ll be settled soon.”
Joseph and Arianna nodded in agreement then the three of them went back
to planning.
Julian had searched through six different rooms looking for her before
he finally found came across Eve walking his way. From the look of things,
whatever it was that was bothering her earlier was no longer an issue.
Eve raised her hands, “Before you ask what happened between Arianna and
I, don’t, it was nothing.” she said as she came to a stop in front of Julian.
“I just needed some time to myself.”
“Are you sure I can’t help you with anything?” Julian asked.
She shook her head no. “You know that if I need anything, I’ll let you
know. That’s what a mate does.” Eve smiled.
“I know.” Julian smiled. “We should get back to the others.”
A few miles from the warehouse Eve and the others were staying in, Dante
and a few members from his coven were headed in their direction. After the
call he got from Amon last night, he had to act fast. He wasn’t about to
let Eve get away from his this time. Then he remembered the other call he
received a few hours later. One of his informants had called to tell him that
a rumor was circulating about Eve and that mortal Julian being mated. Just
the thought her giving her voluptuous body to that mortal made him shut his
eyes and growl viciously. When he opened them they flashed light blue and
his nostrils flared as he began flexing his hands.
“Lord Dante, I see the warehouse.” someone said then pointed in its direction.
Dante then looked to where they were pointing, “Let’s hurry up and move
it. I want her now!” he sneered.
Back inside the warehouse, Eve listened to everyone’s ideas. As she continued
to listen, she didn’t try to hide her distain when she heard Arianna and
the other person speak. She really didn’t know Arianna that well but still,
‘How in the hell could she be so damn reckless?’ Eve snarled on the inside,
but didn’t show any emotion on the outside.
“Maybe this plan will work.” Julian said bringing Eve out of her own thoughts.
“Good.” Eve replied, even though she hadn’t heard a damn word of the plan
to begin with.
“I agree. There’s no way either of them will see it coming.” Joseph said
then stretched out his aching back.
“It does sound good.” Gabriel added then watched as Arianna walked over
to where Eve stood, leaving him and the others to themselves.
Eve sensed Arianna walking towards her but never turned around. Once she
was standing next to her, Eve finally spoke.
“How long?” she said but never looked at her.
“Almost two years.” Arianna whispered then looked down. “I’m so sorry
you had to see that.”
“Does he know?” Eve asked.
Arianna shook her head no.
“I knew I smelt their scents before because I remember smelling them on
you the first time we met. That’s why I refused to fight you back then because
you were still recovering. I smelt it then, just like I smell it now.” Eve
shook her head. “His scent is stronger and it’s all over you, just like before.”
Arianna sighed. “This wasn’t suppose to happen. We didn’t plan this. We
didn’t mean to hurt him.”
“It isn’t my place to say anything but when something as serious as this
impacts everyone’s lives involved, including my own, then there’s a problem.”
Eve said in a serious tone.
“Eve…” Arianna sobbed.
“You’ve both betrayed him in the worst possible way and you’ve hidden
your lies well.” Eve said. “The two of you put up a good front on the outside,
but on the inside you’re both guilt-ridden...I can see it in both of your
eyes.”
Arianna lowered her head in shame. Every word Eve spoke, she knew it was
the truth.
“Best of friends but also bitter rivals, I could tell that much just from
watching them last night. His best friend and his mate…” Eve said, as she
looked Arianna up and down with disgust evident on her face, “I can’t believe
you were going to actually fight like this, especially given your current
condition no less.” then snarled viciously.
“I know...” Arianna sniffed, “but I can’t tell him that Xavier isn’t his
son and that this child that I’m carrying isn’t his either. It’ll kill him.
We tried to end it.”
Eve began walking away, but stopped and spoke over her shoulder so that
only Arianna could hear. “You didn’t try hard enough. It’s been going on
for almost two years and now children are involved. You should’ve thought
about that before you bedded your lover again and in this house with your
mate under the same roof no less. I shouldn’t have seen what I saw earlier
in that room,” Eve spat but didn’t raise her voice, “but I’m glad I did because
now I know. You better tell him now because somehow we’ll have to deal with
this situation quickly and together. Even though it’s none of my business,
I won’t have this interfering in our plans later on. I will not have innocent
mortals blood on my hands because of this. And I sure as hell won’t let
anything happen to my mate because of your lies either.”
“I’m so, so sorry.” Arianna whispered.
“I may not like Joseph, hell I barely even know the guy but I know he
has the right to know about you and Gabriel and your children.” And with
that, Eve walked away from Arianna, leaving her to think about everything.
Before anyone realized it, two hours had come and gone fast. Arianna was
resting her head on Joseph’s shoulder staring into the eyes of Gabriel as
he stared right back at her while Joseph slept soundly with his right arm
wrapped around her waist. Gabriel then blinked his eyes and turned away from
her. The pained look in her eyes was enough for him to realize that everything
between them shouldn’t have happened in the first place, and that he felt
even more disgusted with himself for hurting Joseph like this. While he
and Arianna thought about their painful situation, Julian and Eve slipped
out unnoticed and were heading towards their room.
Opening the door, Julian allowed Eve to enter in first then he followed
closely behind her, shutting the door behind them. Once he heard the doorknob
click, he walked over to where she stood by the side of the bed and pulled
her back against his chest, wrapping his arms around her waist before placing
a tender kiss on her neck. A soft moan escaped her lips as she turned in
his arms, so that she was now facing him and pressed her lips to his.
God help him because he could never get enough of her lips upon his. The
way they tasted, the way they felt…everything. Moving his left hand up from
her waist, he placed it behind her head and held it there as he deepened
the kiss causing another moan to escape her lips. Slowly, he shifted them
both so that they were now on the bed with him on top. Pulling away from her
lips even though he didn’t want to, Julian leaned back and removed his shirt,
giving Eve a wonderful look at his amazingly toned abs and chest.
Eve stared at Julian’s gorgeous upper body a little while longer before
trailing her eyes up to his face. There she found a wickedly sexy grin upon
his lips as he stared down at her. A small grin graced her lips too as he
leaned back down and claimed her lips again. Eve was then caught off guard
when Julian suddenly flipped them over so that she now straddled his waist
as he leaned up, pulled the shirt she was wearing from inside of her jeans,
over her head and tossed to the floor below. She then looked down and watched
as he placed his hands back on her waist then slowly he ran his tongue over
the tops of her breasts while looking directly into her eyes.
She threw head back and moaned again as she placed both of hands in his
hair. Julian then ran his tongue from her breasts all the way up to her
neck, placing small kisses over her collarbone. Slowly gliding his hands
up her back, Julian unhooked her bra then slipped it off her shoulders before
taking one of her hardened nipples into his warm mouth. He then pulled her
body closer to his, if that was even humanly possible without smothering
himself, as he rolled her nipple around in his mouth a few times before he
suddenly drew back, blew on it once then began suckling it like a newborn
child feeding. Using his left hand, Julian brought it from her back, placed
it over her right breast and began to softly caress it with the palm of his
hand.
Moan after moan after moan continued to flow from Eve’s mouth as Julian
continued to have his way with her neck area and breasts. It wasn’t long
before he had her completely naked, still straddling his waist while his
pants remained intact. Eve then used her hands to make Julian look up at
her face again before staring him straight in the eyes. Julian stared up
at her face with so much love shining through his eyes, that he nearly broke
down and cried in her arms…he loved her that much. Her eyes were heavily
glazed over and her lips were so swollen and so full from their steamy, passionate
kisses. And when she ran her tongue over her bottom lip, he knew he couldn’t
take it any longer.
He went to unbutton his pants, but Eve’s hands stop him. Julian then watched
as Eve kissed him on his lips once more before trailing hot, fiery kisses
along his jaw line, down his neck, nipping his skin softly leaving small
marks as she continued going lower. It was his turn to moan out as she ran
her tongue over one of his nipples then planted more kisses along his abs
before looking up and noticing how Julian was staring at her with lust oozing
from his heated eyes.
Once she had his pants off, before she even had chance to blink, Julian
had her screaming his name out over and over again as pounded his hips into
her repeatedly. He didn’t even wait for her to lie down on the bed, not
that she was complaining, as he took her sitting up on the edge of the bed.
His head rested comfortably on her breasts as he clinched his eyes shut
and continued thrusting his hips nonstop while panting hard in the process.
This was a whole lot better then their first time, Eve thought as she cried
out in ecstasy.
It wasn’t long before they lay in each other’s arms, completely and utterly
spent. Julian then used what strength he had left to turn and look at Eve’s
face, and what he found was a satisfied smirk playing on her lips before
letting sleep finally overtake him.
Too bad because if he had just held out a little longer, he would’ve heard
their room door open and found a murderous looking Dante burning holes through
his body with his dementedly twisted eyes.
