Chapter IX

{Flashback}

From behind her, the door opened up and Dante walked through.

“You thought you outsmarted me huh?” he chuckled wickedly. “Calling out that mortal’s name, right when I had you.”

Silence-

“Why so quiet Eve? Cat got your tongue.” Dante said sarcastically.

So that’s what she did…no wonder he was angry…

The minute Dante walked through the door, warning signals immediately went off inside of her head. Eve already knew what he wanted, but she wasn’t willing to give that up without a fight! Looking over her shoulder, she watched as Dante slowly approached the bars. Turning to look back at the wall, Eve made up her mind.

It was now or never…

As soon as he reached for the bars, Dante’s eyes grew huge as he watched Eve take off and launch herself through the wall of the cell.

“NOOO!”

Eve heard Dante yell after her as she went crashing through the wall. She turned in mid air and watched as Dante looked on as she continued to fall. A satisfied smirk appeared on her lips as she flipped him the bird before disappearing down below. Once she hit the water, the impact of the fall knocked the wind out of her, not to mention she probably suffered a number of broken bones too…but she had escaped.

A few hours must’ve passed because when she came to, she was lying down on her back on a patch of land as the morning rays of the sun beamed down on her face. Groaning in pain, she sat up slowly, covered her eyes with her left hand and began sniffing around. From what she could smell, she was nowhere near wherever the hell Dante was, much to her relief but something was a miss…

Struggling to her feet, she stretched out the kinks in her aching body then looked down at her dress. It was literally hanging off of her body and it left little to the imagination, not to mention that blood was everywhere as well. She rolled her eyes then groaned…it looked like she had just survived the Texas chainsaw massacre and…she really hated dresses! Once she was done checking herself out, she began walking east. As she passed a few things, she still didn’t know where the hell she was, but she was almost certain that she wasn’t in Harmony anymore.

She had been on the run for two weeks now. Since then, she traveled only during the day because she didn’t want anyone to know who or what she was. As long as she blended in with the mortals normally, she could get back to Harmony as fast as she could.

She needed to know if Julian had survived…

And if he did…

Then he needed her…

Just like she needed him…

{Flashback ends}

The minute Eve stepped foot back in Harmony, she began her search. Her first stop was the site of their accident. Any traces of his scent were long gone now, so she began looking for something else that could lead her to him. When her search turned up nothing, she went looking for him at the nearest hospital. She learned from the few nurses that she had spoken with that he was brought in the day of the accident and that he stayed there for two weeks before he suddenly disappeared.

‘What could’ve happened to him?’ Eve wondered. She would’ve asked Max if he knew where Julian was, but unfortunately for her, she didn’t know where Max lived. And since she didn’t have anyone else to turn to, she decided to stop over by his home to look for any signs of him returning there before heading out to search for him again.

Eve searched day in and day out for Julian but always returned back to his home empty. Since many of the hunters and other vampires believed Dante still had her…she went by on her search for Julian unnoticed for three months. She knew deep down that he wasn’t dead, so where the hell was he?

Tonight, just like all of the other nights she went out to look for Julian, Eve returned back to his home empty handed again. She was tired, her feet hurt and she needed a shower badly. As she walked towards the bathroom, she began to take off every article of clothing, one by one until she was completely nude and standing in front to the shower as she waited for the water to heat up. Slowly she stepped inside and let the warm water cascade all down her sore body.

Fifteen minutes later, she stepped out of the shower and grabbed a towel to wrap around her body. Running her right hand through her wet hair once, she made her way over to the bathroom door. As soon as she entered back inside of Julian’s room, she was immediately hit with the scent of someone else.

Bearing her fangs as her eyes flashed light blue, Eve suddenly her whipped her head in the direction of the bedroom door and nearly lost her balance. She couldn’t believe her eyes, but when she heard her name being whispered from his lips…she knew…

“Eve…”

Tears instantly sprang from Eve’s eyes as she watched Julian walk over towards her cautiously. Once he was standing directly in front of her, she raised her left hand up and placed it on his face. She had to make sure that he was real…

“Julian…”

When she said his name, an array of emotions stirred deep within him. When she touched his face, all he could do was close his eyes as the heat from her soft hand, warmed his soul. Opening his eyes, he found tears streaming down her face, and knew he had to do something to ease her pain away, to let her knew that he was real... Moving closer, Julian tenderly captured her lips.

The feel of his lips upon hers sent electricity shooting through her veins as Eve kissed him back with everything she had. Julian wrapped his arms around her body and drew her closer then used his right hand to loosen the towel wrapped around her body. A moan escaped Eve’s lips when she felt the towel around her body suddenly fall to the ground. Pulling away slowly, even though she didn’t want him to, Eve watched as Julian began undressing before her eyes.

She couldn’t take her eyes off of him; all she could do was stare. Even though she had seen many naked men before, none of them ever made her blood boil this way. Eve let her eyes travel from his well-toned chest, down his abs then lower to his manhood before slowly taking her time to trail her eyes back up to his face.

Once Julian was undressed, he watched as Eve began to check him out. While she did this, he took his sweet time taking in the sight of her nude body too. Even though she had been injured many times before, not one scar marred her smooth caramel skin. Moving a little closer, Julian pulled Eve to his body, which caused them both to moan out loud as their bodies molded to each other.

Lowering his head, Julian watched as Eve stared at his lips through half-lidded eyes. He was only a few inches away from claiming her lips when Eve decided took matters into her own hands. To feel her lips upon his again, was just too much for Julian…he needed more…

Slowly, Julian pulled Eve down onto the floor with him. Then he straddled her waist and began placing open mouth kisses around her neck area. Biting her lower lip, Eve moaned out softly as Julian took one of her nipples into his mouth. She then dug her nails into his shoulders hard, leaving faint scratch marks as he continued to assault her breasts. Just hearing her moan out the way she did and the way she kept on squirming beneath him was almost too much for Julian. Grabbing both of her arms, he placed them above her head and held them down with his right hand before claiming her lips again, this time in a loving, yet bruising kiss.

Trailing down to her neck once more, Julian began planting soft kisses on her collarbone before coming to a stop by her right ear. He was breathing hard, but he knew that Eve heard what he whispered into her ear before settling in between her legs and burying his length deep inside of her carefully.

Eve, who had her eyes closed at the time, suddenly felt Julian enter her. Her eyes immediately shot open, revealing little blue orbs as did her mouth revealing long sharp fangs. To feel his length buried deep within her warmth caused tears to spring from her eyes and roll down the sides of her face. For the first time since she was a mortal, Eve had finally found a happiness she never thought she’d find again.

Julian didn’t move right away for fear that he had hurt her…after all this was her first time... Words couldn’t describe what he was feeling right now. Never had he known it was possible to love a woman the way he loved Eve. For him to not see her for three long months was like a death sentence. He didn’t think he could go on without her in his life, but now here she was…and there was no way in hell he was ever going to lose her again.

Eve suddenly bucked her hips, signaling to Julian that she was ready as he began to thrust in and out of her slowly. Minutes later moan after moan after moan escaped their lips as Julian began picking up speed. Eve had her hands resting on his shoulders as he continued to thrust in and out of her. Julian had his hands resting on both sides of her head as he grunted over and over again into the crook of her neck.

After what seemed like forever, Eve couldn’t hold out anymore. She closed her eyes and cried out in ecstasy with Julian not too far behind. A few minutes later, while still joined intimately, Eve began running her fingers through Julian’s damp hair.

“Thank you.” Eve whispered.

“For what?” Julian asked curiously as he continued to let Eve play in his hair.

“For bringing me this happiness.”

Julian then looked up at Eve’s face and noticed that she was crying. Bringing his hand up to her face, he carefully wiped away her tears before kissing her softly on the lips.

“I meant what I whispered in your ear Eve. No other woman has ever made me feel the way you do. You’re very special to me. I thought I lost you once, and the pain was unbearable, but never again. I should be the one thanking you because you’ve made me one of the happiest men in the world.” Julian smiled. “I swear it from the bottom of my heart…I love you so much.”

“I love you too Julian.” she returned his smile then kissed him on the lips once more.

A few hours later, Eve awakened and noticed that the sun was shining through the blinds. Sitting up straight, she yawned then stretched her back out before standing on her feet. Somehow during their second round of love making last night, they managed to end up in the bed.

Once she was standing, she turned towards the bed and found Julian nowhere in sight. Her first instinct was to panic, but then she settled down a bit and began sniffing around to pick up his scent. Then she realized something…it would be useless to sniff him out because his scent was all over her!

She groaned in frustration then grabbed the nearest article of clothing she could find, which happened to be Julian’s t-shirt and sprinted out of the room. Eve then ran through the hallway and down the stairs. The second her foot hit the floor below, she ran dead smack into Julian, who was coming from the kitchen with a bag of food in his hand.

Moaning, Julian rolled over then leaned carefully against the wall. “Eve, what happened?”

“Julian…” Eve sobbed out then threw her arms around his neck, which earned a louder moan from Julian. “Sorry…”

“Why were you running like that?” Julian asked as he rubbed the back of his head.

“I woke up and you weren’t there. Then I thought about sniffing you out, but then I realized that your scent was all over me! So I panicked!” Eve hurriedly said.

“Calm down alright?” Julian said then pulled Eve into his arms. “I just went out to get us something to eat. You were sleeping so peacefully and I didn’t have the heart to wake you.” He kissed the top of her head.

Wiping the tears from her eyes, “That was sweet of you, but next time…‘don’t do that!’” Eve punched him in the arm, “You really had me scared!” she pouted.

Julian smiled then shook his head before claiming her lips in a tender kiss. “I promise I won’t.” He muttered against her lips.

“You’d better.” Eve smirked then returned the kiss.

Garth was finally finished with what his master asked him to do. When Dante had called him that night out of the blue, he was shocked. He didn’t think his master would ever do something like that.

{Flashback}

“Hello?”

“Mortal…” Garth knew that voice anywhere…

“Lord Dante…”

“I need something from you…” Dante said as he ran his fingers through his hair.

“What can I do for you sire?”

“I want you to find out any and everything pertaining to the man who was with Eve.”

“Julian Crane sir?”

“So that’s his full name…” Garth listened as Dante chuckled menacingly through the phone receiver.

“Yes sir. Julian Crane, son of the late billionaire Alistair Crane.”

“I want to know everything, from his childhood on up until now.” Dante demanded.

“Yes sir.” Garth replied as he began taking down notes.

“And mortal…”

Silence-

“Y-Yes sir…”

“If I find out that you’re missing anything…”

“Anything?”

“Anything pertaining Julian Crane, then prepare to meet your end.”

Just the thought of losing his life before he even received his gift of immortality was enough to make Garth research the entire Crane bloodline…not once, not twice but THREE TIMES! Hopefully, he had everything his mastered needed…
