I've made mistakes, that’s what life is
But there ain't a thing I can't live with
And even though you can't forgive
You're Forgiven
Song lyrics -  Unforgiven by Tracy Lawrence..
Kay looked up to see Fox behind her. “Stay away from my daughter.” She yelled over at Miguel as she took Maria from Fox. “You can’t take her.”

“Kay calm down, you don’t want to scare Maria.” Fox whispered resting his hand on her shoulder.

“Kay, she’s my child too. Charity and I can give her a good life.” Miguel spoke taking a step toward Kay.

“Miguel! How can you do this? How can you even suggest something like this?” Sam asked his eyes glaring at the young man. “My daughter is a good mother, the only mother Maria needs. You can’t just rip her away from Kay.”

“He won’t daddy, because I’ll fight him.” Kay spoke through gritted teeth. “I will fight you with everything in me.” Kay warned. “And you have no idea just what that means.”

“Do you think threatening me will help?” Miguel questioned. “Because it only makes things worse for you Kay. You will still get to see Maria, but she belongs in a two parent home.”

“Oh please, children are raised in single parent homes all the time now.” Fox grunted. “Kay is a good mother and you can’t prove other wise. I can’t believe you, you just watched your sister have her child ripped away from her. You saw what she went through and now you want to do that to Kay?” Fox questioned. “You really are a jerk.”

“You’re doing this because of Charity aren’t you? You want me completely out of your life so you two can live like Barbie and Ken! Newsflash Miguel I don’t want you! I’m not going to bother you and Charity! All I want is to raise my daughter, so if you think that I’m going to cause trouble in your marriage think again!”

“Kay I understand that you’re upset, but I’m not changing my mind. Now if you don’t mind I’d like to spend time with my daughter.”

“Actually I do mind.” Kay spoke looking up at Fox. “I’ve got to get out of here before I hurt him.” She whispered.

“I’ll get Maria’s bag.” Fox nodded.

“You’ll do what? You can’t just leave with my daughter.”

”Yes I can.” Kay fumed. “And I don’t think you want to stop me.” She warned."

“But I want to spend time with her.” Miguel insisted. “I’ve missed her.”

“I didn’t tell you to stay away from her for two months Miguel! You really don’t want me to stay here much longer, because if I do, you’ll be the one that’s sorry.”

“What if you run with her?” Miguel questioned.

“Oh please I’m not your sister.” Kay spoke rolling her eyes. “I fight my battles, and I will fight you and I’ll win.”

Kay walked toward the door and then looked back at her father, “Call Ethan, tell him I need to see him.”

Miguel shook his head, “Do you think Ethan will help you Kay? He’s with my sister now, that could get complicated.”

“My son will do what’s right.” Sam spoke up.

Kay handed Maria over to Fox who was holding her baby bag, “Take her to the car.” She spoke. “I’ll be out in a second.”

She watched as Fox walked off and turned to Miguel. Slowly she walked toward him, her eyes flaming with anger. As she inched closer to him she could see fear building in the hazel eyes she once loved so much. “The only reason I didn’t knock you to the ground is because of my daughter.” She whispered. “But know this, I have more fight in me then you ever will, so if you and Charity think you can bulldoze over me, think again!”

Kay turned her back on Miguel and hurried toward the door. Looking back she shook her head. “I can’t believe I ever thought I loved you.”

Kay Bennett put her sleeping daughter in the baby bed that had once been her nephew’s. Her head ached as she walked over to the window to look down below.

“How are you doing.” A voice whispered from the doorway.

Kay turned around to see Fox staring at her his eyes sad. “How do I look?” She frowned wiping her puffy eyes. “Thank you for bringing me here, are you sure your father doesn’t mind?”

“I live here too, and you’re welcomed here anytime.” Fox smiled. “She’s out like a light huh?” He questioned peering over at Maria.

“Car rides do that too her.” She nodded sitting down on Fox’s bed. “What am I going to do?” She swallowed looking up at him. “I can’t loose her, I don’t think I could handle that.”

“You won’t.” Fox promised. “I’ll make sure of that.” It was at that moment that he wondered if he’d been cursed. In wasn’t long ago that he was speaking those same words to Theresa. Telling her she wouldn’t loose her child. Did he curse the women in his life somehow?

“I’m being punished.” Kay spoke out of nowhere. “I thought I was being punished when Maria was sick, but that was just the beginning. I knew someday all the things I’ve done would come back to haunt me, I just never thought it’d be like this.”

Fox sat down beside her and wrapped his arm around her waist. “This is not some sort of punishment for your sins.” He spoke pushing a strand of loose brown hair from her face. “This is about some little idiot who thinks he knows more than he does. You’ve got a past, so what we all do. You’re a good mom, and you’re going to fight this.”

“You really think I can win?” Kay whispered as tears began to fall down her face. “Charity and Miguel are this perfect couple, I’m a single mother working barely getting by.” She rested her head on Fox’s shoulder. “Why is he doing this to me? I love Maria can’t he see that? Can’t he see that she’s happy with me?”

“Kay, you can win against Miguel. He has spent two months away from his daughter. You’ve been there, you’ve been her only parent and the judge will see that. He’ll see that you love that little girl and you have a family around you that will help you. I’ll get the Crane lawyers to help if I have to, but you won’t loose Maria.”

“Of course she won’t loose Maria, I won’t let that happen.” A voice spoke.

“Ethan.” Fox muttered without looking.

“Julian told me Kay was up here, dad called and explained everything.” He spoke when he saw Kay’s tear stained face. “This is just horrible.”

“Ethan.” She spoke standing up, “You won’t let him do this right? You’ll help me keep Maria? I mean you can do it right? You’re a good lawyer aren’t you? You can win in court?” Kay started rambling grabbing on to Ethan’s hand. “I just can’t loose her, I can’t let Miguel and Charity raise my daughter.”

“I’m going to do everything I can to keep you and Maria together.” Ethan promised hugging his sister.

“What about Charity’s dad?” Fox asked narrowing his eyes at Ethan. “Miguel talked like he was some hot shot lawyer.”

“Yeah.” Ethan frowned. “Franklin Campbell, I know all about him.”

“You’ve heard of him?” Kay gasped. “Ethan is he any good? Be honest with me, I need to know what’s going on.”

“Kay, I have to be honest with you, Franklin Campbell has won many custody cases for fathers. He knows what he’s doing, the Crane lawyers know him well and they despise the man.” Looking over at Fox he frowned. “Do you remember Cassidy Tyler? She was a VP at Crane a few years ago.”

“I heard father mention her, why do you ask?”

“She had a son, and when her and her husband divorced they had a messy custody battle, needless to say with Franklin’s help the ex husband won.” Ethan frowned.

“It’s over.” Kay whispered. “I’m going to loose my daughter. Charity is going to raise her and I can’t stop her. She’ll finally have taken everything away from me.” She cried walking over to the window. She pressed her forehead against the glass as tears fell down her face.

“Did you have to be so negative?” Fox growled at Ethan. “Look at her! Look at what you’ve done.”

“I feel its best to be upfront.” Ethan glared back. “But just because Campbell has won a few cases doesn’t mean he’s not beatable, and I plan to beat him.” Ethan swore. “I’m fighting for my sister, and he’ll have a battle on his hands. Besides, Miguel was away from Maria for two months, I plan to make that plain. Kay has been Maria’s only parent, and when I’m done the judge will see that.”

“And how will Theresa feel about this?” Fox asked crossing his arms. “You fighting against her brother in court?”

“Why do you care?” Ethan asked, “Hoping you can get her back?”

“Please I’m still trying to burn those images of you two together out of my head. I have no desire to be anywhere near Theresa or you for that matter.”

“Will you two please shut up about Theresa? I’m about to loose my daughter!” Kay blurted out. “Who cares who Theresa is with, my daughter is what matters now!”

“You’re right.” Fox frowned, “Think we can get along for Kay?” He asked Ethan.

Ethan looked over at Kay, “I’m wondering what you want with my sister in the first place.”

“If it was any of your business I’d tell you.” Fox shot back quickly. “But sense it’s not don’t ask again.”

“My daughter!” Kay said stepping in front of them. “Can we talk about my daughter?”

“Yes of course.” Ethan nodded. “In fact Theresa told me something that just might come in handy.” He spoke. “That is if your ready for a real fight, because once I’m done, whatever you once shared with Miguel will be over.”

“What I shared with Miguel ended when he walked in my house and said Charity would be a better mother than me. So I want you to fight Ethan, fight Miguel and Franklin Campbell like you’ve never fought anyone. You have Bennett in you, I know you can do this.” Kay answered.

“In that case let’s get to work.”
