Caught In The Crossfire

This is my version of the recent barn scene, but Nora style.

The car lay against the old tree, and Julian had managed to get Eve out of it, supporting her against him as they walked up to the tiny house on the large piece of land. Eve regretted ever wearing such heels on a night like this, trying to walk amongst the many patches of thick mud from the pouring rain coming down that night. When there was no answer at the door, Julian’s mind raced with thoughts of how to protect his ladylove from the damp weather. When Eve pointed to the barn, he nodded knowing it was a good idea to take shelter inside. Neither of them wanted to be prosecuted by breaking into the quaint little home. The last thing she needed was for T.C. to find her and Julian together. Julian picked her up and carried her when he noticed Eve couldn’t walk very well and when he managed to open the door, they looked around, it was very quiet, not a person in site, except for some equipment and a bunch of hay. He assisted her in sitting down on a stack of it and found some blankets in the corner. Eve started to shiver a bit; her hair and clothes quite damp from the rain and Julian immediately wrapped her up in one, holding her as close as possible, to keep her warm.

“Eve, you don’t think T.C. will come looking for you, do you?”

“I hope not Julian.”

“I am not sure how long we will have together, but….I am hoping that, perhaps we will have an hour or maybe eight?” he said smiling.

“All night?” Eve said, her mind racing with thoughts of spending more than just a few minutes with him.

Eve shook her head of the thought when she was interrupted by a call on her cell, T.C. had been notified about the airbag, but she insisted that she was fine and there was no need to worry. Although the car needed to be towed and the damage repaired, Eve was not willing to take the risk in letting anyone see them together, the more people involved, the worse it would be. She had told him that she was taking shelter at a nearby hotel and would be home in the morning. Julian held her closer to him, as she couldn’t seem to get warm as much as she tried. He got up, grabbing another blanket and dusted off the many particles from the ground. The last thing he wanted was for any kind of insect or critter to creep into places unknown while they sat there. Of course, barns were barns, but he wanted to protect Eve in every way.

“Thank you Julian.”

“Anytime my love, I want you to feel safe and cared for, I am not going anywhere, I will be by your side all night.”

Julian then took off his overcoat and his suit jacket as well to put over her. The last thing he wanted was for his sweetheart to catch a blasted cold or anything worse.

“Julian, you are going to be cold yourself.”

“No my love, I am quite content, as long as I have you to hold close, that will keep me warm.”

Eve lay on his shoulder and closed her eyes, it had been a long day and she was rather tired, so Julian just let her rest, pushing back her moist tresses that were clinging to her face. He looked down at her as she lay there, breathing so quietly, in awe at how wonderful and beautiful his darling Eve truly was.

“Eve?” he said softly.

“Yes Julian?”

“I am so happy that you are okay, what would I have done if anything happened to you? God, I don’t even know what to say, I am just glad you are okay. I love you so much my darling, you are everything in this world to me.”

“Julian, you have been so great tonight, I feel so safe when I am in your arms, I don’t have any worries or fears. In fact, I feel like we know each other even better than we did two decades ago. Julian, I do love you.”

“I love you too Eve.”

He lifted her head from upon his shoulder and looked into her eyes, studying them, loving how beautiful they were in expressing her inner soul. He then gazed upon her lips, imagining them, their taste, and the feel of them upon his. When he leaned forward, Eve put her hand over his mouth.

“I’m sorry.” He said.

“Julian, I love you, but…”

“You love T.C.”

“I do.”

“Okay, but if I can’t kiss you, at least let me hold you in my arms for as long as we are here.”

“Yes, I would love that.”

Julian took one of the blankets from around them and formed it into a pillow, so they could both lie down and get some rest. Eve snuggled up to him and he wrapped his arms around her as tightly as he could, wanting her to never feel alone. She could feel his warm breath upon her; smell his wonderful and alluring cologne as she was very near to his neck as they slept. They bad both drifted off into a deep sleep until Eve had woken up some time later. She looked at Julian who was still off in some dream she imagined and with him so close, he smelled incredible and she closed her eyes and leaned forward, placing gentle kisses along his neck. He sighed softly and looked at her, running his fingers through her hair. She looked at his mouth, which was very inviting at that very moment and touched her lips to his in a soft sweet kiss. She touched the back of his hair, enjoying the closeness they shared together, Eve finally felt warm and so cozy, cuddling up to Julian. His mouth was tender, his arms so strong as they held her. This was one night where there was no place she would rather be.
