Chad felt his whole body shake as he looked over at Theresa. " How can this be true?" He questioned.
"I don’t have all the answers." She whimpered chewing on her lip as she sat in the corner staring at him.
"A Crane? Julian Crane’s son? He’s a monster! No way could I belong to him!" Chad yelled out.
"You do! He taunted me with it, said you’d be just like him someday." Theresa cried finally standing up.
Chad stayed firmly seated on the couch. " I want proof!" He told her as she slowly walked toward. "You show me proof that I belong to that animal."
"Call Eve Russell. She is your mother Chad. Call her and ask her, I did and her story was the same as Julian’s."
"Did she know?" Chad asked rubbing the back of his shoulder as it grew tense.
Theresa shook her head. "No."
"Then what makes you think its true?"
"She had a son with Julian, and you are that son."
"No, look just because those two had a baby don’t mean its me."
"She thought you were dead."
"Maybe her son is dead Theresa, because I ain’t having that I belong to that man!"
"So I’m lying? Why would I do that? Chad why would I lie to the one man I love more than anything?" She yelled then quickly slapped her hand over her mouth.
"What was that Resa? The one man you love?"
She shook her head quickly. "It doesn’t matter Chad. Nothing matters now. I vowed to myself I’d never let another Crane hurt me, and you are a Crane."
"Don’t say that! I am not a Crane, do you hear me? I hate that man and I am nothing like him!"
"His blood in flowing in you Chad! He is your father and I can’t chance it." She sobbed.
"Resa don’t do this!" Chad said reaching out to her.
"Chad, call Dr. Russell, talk to her and she will tell you the truth. You are his son, you belong to the man that ruined my life and for that I just can’t let you back in." She cried out trembling.
Chad felt hot tears running down his face, his heart was racing as he looked at Theresa. He could see in her eyes she was at her breaking point. In his heart he knew she wasn’t far from loosing it and he couldn’t let her do that.
"I’ll call Dr. Russell, Resa. I’ll talk to her about everything you said and if she gives me enough proof that I belong to her and that scum Julian Crane, then I will leave you and never come back" He said then paused. "If that’s what you want." He finished.
Theresa gulped. The dreaded words she never wanted to hear had just fallen from Chad’s mouth and yet it was the one thing she knew she had to agree to. In front of her stood a man that loved her enough to let her go, who cared enough to walk away from her if she asked. Looking into his eyes she forced the words from her mouth. "That’s what I want."
Chad took in a breath, it was ending, the love of his life was asking him to give her up, and he had to do it, for her sake. " Theresa, you know I’ll always love you and if you change your mind, I’ll be waiting." He said blinking away a tear. "At least for awhile." He added knowing he could wait forever if need be.
She nodded her head. "Call Dr. Russell." She whispered picking up her phone and handing it to him.
He took the phone from her brushing her hand with his. This would by far be the hardest phone call he would ever make, he thought to himself as he dialed the number.
Waiting for someone to pick up he looked over at Theresa, she sat in a chair staring up at him, biting her nails.
"Hello." A woman answered.
"Dr. Russell, this is Chad Harris." He said taking a deep breath.
Silence was what he heard next, and then finally. "Chad, I knew you’d call."
He looked over at Theresa. "How did you know?"
"I had a talk with Theresa, then with Julian." Eve said her voice sounding weak.
"You talked to Julian." He swallowed.
"Did Theresa tell you? Do you know?" Eve questioned.
"She said I am your son. Yours and Julian Cranes."
He heard sobs on the other end. " Its all true Chad. You are the son I thought I had lost, Julian told me today you never died, that someone at the hospital switched babies."
"How long did he know?"
"He found out a year after you came to town. Chad you are my boy, the son I’ve always loved." She cried.
"And I am his son? I belong to that man?" He said his voice rising.
"He wasn’t a bad man then Chad." Eve defended.
Chad glanced over at Theresa as he felt his stomach loop. "So its all true?"
"Yes Chad it is."
"I have to go now." Chad said dropping the phone.
Theresa looked over at Chad his face blank. " Did you get enough proof?"
Chad turned and looked at her. "I am nothing like him! I will never be like that man or anyone else in his family."
Theresa shook her head. "I can’t know that for sure."
"So you really want me out of your life? Just because I share the same DNA as that guy? It doesn’t matter to you that I wasn’t raised by him? Or that I hate what he stands for? You still want me gone?" He questioned.
Theresa stared up at him. "I know you don’t understand this Chad. There’s a part of me that doesn’t even get it. But Chad, his is your father, you can hate him if you want, but you are a Crane. What if one day you begin to act like him? Julian tried to force me to marry him, he almost drugged me. How can I love his son after that?"
Chad shook his head. "You loved me before you knew."
"And you tried to make me commit to you then. You are determined like him Chad, how do I know you don’t have his other traits? As much as I love you now, I can’t be with you."
Chad lowered his head. "Then if you’ve said all you wanted to say, I need to get back to Brayden’s." He told her.
"I’m sorry." Theresa cried.
He shook his head. "Just remember I love you." He said looking at her then he turned and headed out the door.

Brayden held a sobbing Charity in his arms as she finally looked up at him. "I’m such a freak." She said wiping her tears.
"A freak? Why would you say that? What just happened Charity?"
She swallowed and frowned. "I keep remembering my past, who I was before Harmony and each time it seems worse."
"How so?" He asked moving a strand of hair from her face.
"When I lived in Harmony I was know as sweet little Charity, I mean I never did anything. And these flashes I have are not that person. I was always rebelling against my mother, wanting to stay with my father who mom said didn’t want me. I just don’t understand."
Bray frowned. "That’s a lot to take in isn’t it?"
She nodded. " I always thought I had this great friendship with my mom." She sighed. "And she’s dead and I have no idea now what we were like together."
Bray smiled. "Maybe you and her fix things before her death. Maybe these flashes are when you were younger." He suggested.
"You think?"
Bray nodded. "Its very possible. All kids rebel, I’m sure it was just something you were going through."
"But why can’t I remember anything good? Like me getting along with her?" She frowned.
"Give it time. You’re memory has just begun to come back, just try not to worry to much about it."
"But I was so mean to her." Charity cried.
Bray touched Charity’s hand. "Yeah, but can you really read much into these flashes? You don’t know the whole truth behind them yet. You’re not a mean person, a little stubborn but not mean." Bray smiled.
"Its just so upsetting." She whimpered.
"Just give it time Charity. Really if you are remembering little things then soon everything should come back."
"And what if I don’t want it too?" She questioned. "What if I hate what I find out?"
Bray shrugged. "You have to deal with it." He sighed then looked at her. "But I do think you need to go to a doctor."
Charity laughed. "I can’t afford a doctor. I can’t find a job and I’m low on funds."
Bray shook his head. " I’ll take care of it, but I want you to go anyway. Besides I’m sure Chad will agree and then you can’t get out of it."
Charity rolled her eyes. " I guess your right."
"I know I am." Bray teased.
Charity grinned. "You know, your not half bad Rogers."
"Wow a compliment! I’m touched." He laughed.
"I wouldn’t go that far." Charity smiled. "But thanks for getting me through me little melt down."
"Like I’d let my folks see you like that." He grinned. "Besides I’m a very nice person you know."
"Yeah if you say so." She chuckled.
Bray smiled. "So now you ready to get back to fooling my parents?"
Charity nodded. "Yes dear, lets get back to work." She sighed putting her hand out as Bray shook it and grinned.
