ACT TWO – CHAPTER SIX

Two years have passed since the truth about what happened between Julian/Eve/TC came to light. And shortly after TC’s death, Julian and Eve starting seeing one another and the following year, the two were married. Now the parents of a 1 year-old son named William, life could never be better… Yeah right.

It had been two months since the untimely death of Julian Crane and his widow Dr. Eve Crane still wasn’t taking it well. For two months, she cried herself to sleep at night alone in their bed. For two months, she couldn’t get any work done. For two straight months, she thought about killing herself so that she could join him, but then the thought of leaving William alone made her realize that she couldn’t do it. Julian wouldn’t want her to.

So here she was sitting down on the couch in the living with her head resting on her knees as she stared straight ahead at nothing in particular. She must’ve been out of it for a long time because someone was knocking on her door hard. She sighed; she didn’t want to see anyone today. Standing up, Eve slowly walked over to the door and looked out the peephole to find that it was Carlo.

“Eve, I know you’re in there.” Carlo said.

Once the door was opened, Eve stepped to the side and let him in.

“I really wasn’t expecting anyone today.”

“Sorry. I just wanted to see if you were alright.”

“I have my good days, but today isn’t one of them.” She mumbled then walked back over to the couch and sat back down.

Carlo watched as Eve went back and sat down on the couch. This was not going the way he wanted it to. Shortly after Julian’s death and his miraculous recovery, he flew straight back to Harmony to be with Eve. He told her that he was here for her if she needed anything. That was two months ago, and she still wasn’t willing to depend on him. He walked over and sat next to her.

“Open up to me Eve, let me help you.” He said softly.

“I’m grateful that you want to help me, but I don’t need help from anyone. A few people think it’s time for me to move on, but I can’t. I’m not ready to let Julian go.” She whispered.

“I never said let Julian go, but don’t you think that he would want you to move with your life? Want you to be happy?”

“I know he would, but I just can’t.”

Carlo sighed.

“Listen here Eve, I’m not going to let you sit around the house all day and mope. Now I’m going to call Ivy and ask her if she could watch William for a while, so that I can take you out dinner.”

“No.” she said then stood up.

“You need to get out of the house.”

“I don’t need to do anything I don’t want to. You can’t make me go anywhere with you!” Eve shouted.

He ran a hand over his face.

“I’m just trying to be a friend. C’mon Eve, just this once.”

“My answer still is no. Now if you’ll excuse me, I want you to get the hell out of my house right this second… I don’t need anyone babying me, I’m a grown woman and I can take care of damn myself! I want you gone now.” She sneered before walking out of the living room.

Carlo couldn’t believe what just happened. Eve had told him to get the hell out of her house. He didn’t think that it would affect her this badly once Julian was gone. For two months, he waited for her to take him up on his offer, but as each day passed, he grew more anxious. He always believed that she would come to him and ask him to hold her close. He was just going to have to give her more time. He stared towards the way she went before walking over to the front door then walking out.

Another two months passed and now Eve was starting to show. Since that day Carlo came over and she chewed his head off, she knew that he was right, she did need help. So she opened up to Ivy first, then to the others around her. Soon enough, all of her friends were helping her and William as well, but no one was there for her like Carlo. She had apologized to him about that day, but he said it was alright.

From afar, Marco watched as his brother and Eve grew closer. Since Julian’s death four months ago, he watched as Carlo itched his way into Eve’s life and he didn’t like it. Even though four months had passed, he knew deep down in his heart that Eve still missed Julian and that Carlo was taking advantage of her loneliness. The project that he and Julian were working on was passed down to the new CEO of the Donaldson Division…Ivy Winthrop.

At first, Ivy didn’t want to take the job because she didn’t want to upset Eve, but when Eve told her that she was alright with it, she accepted. Marco and Ivy had been dating seriously since he returned back to Harmony. He never knew that when he came to here to Harmony that he would find love. As he was sitting down inside of the coffee house eating his lunch, he looked up and noticed Eve and Carlo walking towards him.

“Eve it’s good to see you again.” He smiled.

“It’s good to see you too Marco.” She said as Carlo pulled her chair out so that she could sit down.

“Marco.”

“Carlo.”

“Eve I was just about to get up and get me another coffee, would you like anything while I’m up?” Marco asked her.

“I don’t know…” she whined.

“Pick anything you like, I’m paying.” He smiled.

“Well if you insist…” She smiled. “I’ll take a number one and a glass of orange juice please.”

“Coming right up.”

“Let me help you carry things back Marco…” Carlo asked.

Marco nodded then; he and Carlo excused themselves.

Once the two brothers were far away from Eve, Marco pulled Carlo over to the side.

“I don’t like you hanging out with Eve like this.”

“Why not?”

“You know why. She isn’t even over the death of Julian and you’re making a play for her.”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Damn it Carlo, why do I have the feeling that you’ve been lying since that day?”

Carlo just stared at Marco.

“And what if I am?”

Marco was stunned by the way Carlo sounded when he answered his question and it sent an eerie chill down his spine.

“Oh my god…”

“That’s right, I killed him. I told you I wanted Eve and now I have her.” He smirked evilly.

“What have you done?! If you really loved her then you would’ve moved on and let her be!” Marco spat.

“I couldn’t do that. I needed Eve more than Julian ever did!”

“You took the father of her children away! When Eve finds out what you did…”

“She won’t!” Carlo sneered. “The only way she’ll find out is if you tell her, but you won’t because you would never rat your brother out to anyone.”

Marco looked at Carlo with hatred in his eyes.

“Mama and papa would be so disappointed in you if they were still here. You disgrace their honor… you disgrace our entire family! From now on, you are no brother of mine.”

“Marco…” Carlo tried reaching out to touch Marco’s shoulder, but Marco slapped his hand away.

“You’re dead to Carlo, dead!”

“You can’t disown me!”

“I just did! I cannot lie to Eve after learning what you’ve told me. She deserves to know what you did to Julian.”

“You can’t rat me out!”

“I can and I will.” Marco said as he turned to walk away, but this time Carlo grabbed him by the arm and spun him around.

“Are you going to tell her now?”

“No. If I tell her now, she might lose the baby and I can’t have that on my conscious. But once that baby is born, you’re going down.”

Meanwhile, an old man was sitting by his fireplace adding more logs to the fire, when a young man with shoulder length hair, a mustache and a beard came back into the house.

“How are you feeling this morning Sergio?”

“Fine sir.”

“Are you sure? You look kind of pale.”

“Well I am a little tired.” He shrugged.

“Well go lay down and rest, I’ll wake you when dinner is ready.” He smiled.

Sergio did as he was told and went to lie down in his room. He closed his door, then walked over to his bed. He then kicked off his shoes, socks, pants and shirt before lying down on the bed in his boxers. He blinked a few times before drifting off into a peaceful sleep.

While he was sleeping, the face of a woman he didn’t know appeared to him. She was saying something to him but he couldn’t hear her. She had a pair of beautiful brown eyes, gorgeous lips and her dark hair was falling down her back as she ran up to him and kissed him passionately on the lips. He could feel her body on his as she slowly started taking off his clothes. He closed his eyes as he felt her trailing kisses down his chest, and when he opened them, she was straddling his hips riding him hard. He leaned up and captured one of her nipples in his mouth as she continued to move up and down. The way she was moaning was only turning him on more as he then moved up her neck before kissing her hard on the lips. He could feel himself ready to explode as she moved harder and faster. She pulled away from him a little then stared into his eyes as she continued to move.

“I love you… I love you so much…” She moaned out then screamed as she reached her climax. He soon followed right after her then rested his head on her chest as he tried to catch his breath.

“I love you too baby, more then you’ll ever know.” He whispered.

“Oh Julian…”

Sergio shot up quickly on his bed breathing hard as he clenched his cover tightly in his hands. That woman, who was she… she called him Julian. ‘Is that my name?’ He thought as he placed his face down in his hands. Slowly, he got up from his bed and walked over to his dresser. He looked in the mirror and for the first time in four months, saw the face of another man with the same eyes as his.

“Who am I? And who was that woman?” he whispered to himself before returning back to his bed. But before he sat down, the name of the woman who he just made love to in his dream came to him… “Eve…”
