ACT TWO – CHAPTER SEVEN

Sergio was walking down the street with his head down and his hands in his pants pockets. When Giovanni found him on the rocks by his home, he immediately took him in. That was four months ago. Sergio remembered Giovanni asking him questions that he should’ve known but didn’t. He didn’t even know his own name, so Giovanni decided to call him Sergio, after his deceased son and he had being living with him ever since.

Now all of sudden, he was remembering things. At first, the memories were little bits and pieces but since that night he dreamt about Eve, the only thing he could think about was her. It was like some powerful force was telling him that she was the key to everything he needed to know about who he was.

As he continued to walk, he literally bumped into a friend of his.

“Allegra.”

“Hey there Sergio.” She smiled then pushed a strand of her red hair behind her ear.

“Allegra, I need you to help me?”

“Sure. What do you need?” she said as they walked over and sat down on the bench in front of them.

“I’ve been remembering things, lots of things and I need for you to help me find this woman. She knows who I am.”

“Sergio…”

“Please…? She called me Julian and I believe that to be my true name.”

“Julian…”

He nodded.

“What’s her name Ser… I mean Julian.”

“Her name is Eve. She and I are connected deeply, and every time I say her name, this peaceful feeling engulfs my soul. I need to find her.”

A few days later, Carlo was on the wharf taking a walk to clear his mine. Everything he had did, to get rid of Julian so that he could have Eve was jeopardy. He didn’t mean to literally tell Marco the truth, but he did and now he felt stupid. Eve could never know what he did…ever. As he continued to walk along the wharf, he came across Eve sitting by herself reading a book in front of this little shop.

Eve had woken up early this morning needing to get out of the house for a few hours. She called Ivy and asked her if she could come over and keep William for a few hours and Ivy said she would love to. Once Ivy arrived, Eve went out and drove around town for a while before coming to the wharf. She would come here often just to think about Julian and sometimes TC too.

When people found out that TC had raped Eve when she was fifteen, they immediately told her not to feel sorry for him because he deserved what he got. She told them that yes he raped her, but before he died, he apologized and asked for her forgiveness. They told her she was a fool if she forgave him, but what people didn’t know was that, she had already forgiven him years ago. She and Julian would always come here together and reminisce about the old times, just the three of them. Now here she was alone, without either of them in her life.

Here she was sitting on a bench trying to read the book she had, but couldn’t. She was thinking about Julian and she missed him so much. Footsteps and a shadow of a person leaning over her startled her a bit.

“Carlo?!” Eve said as she placed her hand over her heart.

“I’m sorry Eve, I didn’t mean to startle you.”

“It’s alright.” She said as she took a deep breath.

“What are you doing here all by yourself?”

“I was thinking…”

“Thinking…?”

“Yeah, about Julian and TC.”

“Who’s TC?” Carlo said as he sat down next to her.

“An old friend of mine. He’s dead now.” Eve said.

“I’m sorry.” He said placing his hand on hers.

Eve looked down at their hands, and then looked back up to meet his eyes. He was staring back at her, as she looked deeper into his eyes too. And what she saw completely surprised her…

“Oh my god…” She whispered.

“Please don’t be afraid of me Eve. I would never hurt you.” Carlo said in a husky voice before moving his hand to her face.

Eve then watched as he leaned towards her and stopped inches away from her mouth. Her body instantly began to tremble.

“I love…”

“Please don’t say that…” She whispered before moving away from him.

“Eve…”

“You can’t love me, you can’t!” She cried.

Carlo stood up.

“But I do Eve.”

“How long?!”

“Eve…”

“How long?!” She repeated.

“Since the first time I laid eyes on you.”

She gasped.

“No…” She shook her head. “Oh no, no! How could you do this to me?!”

“Do what Eve? Say that I love you? Well I do and I’m not gonna apologize for loving you.”

“You know I can’t return your feelings for me. I’m still in love with my husband.”

“Julian’s gone Eve, and he’s not coming back... Why can’t you just let me love you and take care of you?”

“Because I could never love you. My heart will always belong to Julian and no one else.” She said before turning away from him.

Carlo was left speechless as Eve walked away from him. She said that she would always love Julian and no one else. All that he did to have her… was for nothing. She would never love him; she wouldn’t even give him a chance. He was hurting, and he didn’t like that feeling. He loved her too much to just let her walk away from him like that. He was going to make her his, he had too. He wasn’t about to let her think that this was over.

Julian was lying down on his bed thinking about what he had found out with Allegra earlier at the library. He found out that he and Eve were married and that they shared a son together. He also found out that he was the CEO of the Donaldson Division back in a town called Harmony. After finding out that he had a family, he told Allegra that he needed to go back to States tonight, but she told him that he just couldn’t up and leave without anything. So she told him to go back to Giovanni’s and in the morning she would call him when she had everything that he would need to return home.

The next day just like she said she would, Allegra called Julian as soon as she woke up. Over the course of the four months that Julian a.k.a. ‘Sergio’ was here, she had taken a liking to him, but never told him how she felt. When he bumped into her yesterday, she thought that this was it… that he was going to tell her that he loved her too. When he asked her for some help finding a woman… that hurt, but she put aside her pain and helped him anyways.

When she found out that he had a wife and son back in the States, she knew that the chances of him loving her, was never going to happen. Everyone back in his hometown of Harmony thought that he was dead, his wife grieved the lost of her husband for four months, when in fact, he was very alive but had amnesia. Now that he was starting to remember things, it was only a matter of time before he remembered everything.

Once she was dressed, she walked over to her dresser and pulled out the blue folder that had everything Julian would need to return home. She then headed out of her apartment, and drove over to the place that she asked him to meet her at. She wasn’t even there ten minutes, when Julian came running up to her.

“I have everything you’ll need to return home to your wife and son.” She said then handed him the blue folder.

“How did you get everything so fast?”

“I have my ways.” She smirked.

“Thank you so much.” Julian said then pulled her into a friendly hug.

“You’re welcome.” She whispered as she pulled back from him.

“I have an idea.” He just blurted out.

“I’m listening…”

“Why don’t you come with me?”

Allegra gasped in shock. She hadn’t expected him to ask her something like this.

“I don’t know what to say…”

“Just say yes.” Julian said.

“Why would you want me to come with you?”

“I would feel much better if I had a friend come with me, when I see my wife and son again.”

Allegra placed her hand on his shoulder.

“All right, I’ll come.”

“Great.”

Eve was lying down on her couch eating some Breyer’s vanilla ice cream and watching the movie “The Notebook”. Carlo confessing his love for her earlier in the day was too much for her to listen to. He had no right have those kinds of feelings for her at all. What could have possibly gave him the idea that she would return his feelings? Now everything was ruined, their friendship was totally shot to hell because of him.

‘Damn it! Now look what he made me do!’ Eve thought with anger as she looked down at her now melted Breyer’s vanilla ice cream. ‘And that was the last of it too…’ She whined as she strained to move her legs back to the floor. This pregnancy was really taking its toll on her feet and her back was killing her. She was huge considering she was only five months pregnant. She couldn’t wait until she gave birth to this child so that she could finally see her feet again.

Once she was standing, she wobbled into the kitchen and threw away the ruined ice cream. As she was turning to head back to the living room, a sharp pain came out of nowhere and she grabbed her stomach. ‘What the hell was that?! Maybe it’s gas…’ She thought. So she took a deep breath and was about to take another step when another sharp pain came, making her scream out before dropping to one knee. ‘What’s happening to me?!’ She grimaced in pain before blacking out.

Carlo had just arrived at Eve’s front door when he heard what sounded like a scream. He kicked the door open with so much force that it actually came back at him. Once he recovered from his momentary shock, he started looking around and calling out to Eve. When he came to the kitchen, he found her on the ground unconscious.
