Forgiven, Chapter 6
by ejcrane

Jordan, Jordan! Eve stopped before she got into her car and looked back at the hospital. This was the hospital Jordan was born in, and this was the hospital that she was told that her baby died in. But, her baby didn’t die. The doctor that delivered and declared Eve’s baby stillborn was still working at this hospital. Eve was just going to have a little chat with him. She strode back into the hospital.

“Eve, it’s been so long,” Patrick Waters stood up.

“Yes, it has, Dr. Waters,” Eve replied as she slammed the door shut.

“Is there a problem, Eve?” he gave her a strange look.

“I don’t know, you tell me,” she raised a brow.

“Well, maybe if you gave me a hint,” he laughed a bit, but stopped when he saw Eve’s emotionless expression.

“Hmm, does August 6, 1999 ring a bell?”

Patrick thought for a few seconds as his eyes raked over the items on his desk.

“That was the day that you went into labor…and the day you lost your first child,” he paused, “I’m very sorry, Eve.”

“WRONG!” she banged her fists on his desk, “My baby did NOT die, and you know it,” she reach over the desk and grabbed him by his tie, “And I want you to tell me now…WHY THE F*** DID YOU LIE TO ME?!”

“Eve, I don’t know what you are talking about,” he attempted to pull his tie out of her grasp, but failed to do so, “Look, hon, maybe if we could talk about this calm and rationally; maybe we can get you help for the loss you are still feeling…”

Eve then pulled the tie forward and looped it around his head and pulled it even more.

“Ohh I’m calm, Patrick, very CALM…but you’re looking a little blue; now…do you want to tell me about my baby or not?!” she tugged on the tie once more.

He began coughing and choking. His hands tried to get beneath the material so he could get some air to his lungs, but Eve kept a firm grasp on it.

“O-o-o,” he stuttered in a hoarse voice.

Eve pulled on her ear.

“‘O-O’, I didn’t quite hear you. What was that?”

“O-o-l-i…”

Eve let up on the pull. What was he trying to say?

“O-o-l-i-v…” he took in a breath and coughed, “…v-v-i-a-a…”

“What?!” so shocked, Eve let go of the tie completely.

Patrick inhaled deeply.

“Oliv…ia,” he finished.

“Olivia? What does this have to do with Olivia?” Eve was now very confused.

“She’s the one you want,” he leaned back in his chair and panted, “She’s the one that constructed this plan.”

“Plan? What plan?!” she reached over the desk for his tie again, but he was fast this time and dodged her hands.

“The plan to steal your baby and make your life a living hell,” he finally admitted.

Eve sank into the chair as her hand rose up to her mouth.

“Why? But why? Why, why?!”

“First, let’s just say she blackmailed me. I had met her a little after you had left Harmony, and after this Julian Crane stopped seeing her. We got ‘close’ and when she wanted more, I told her that there couldn’t be more because I was married, and that what happened between us was a mistake, and I’d take full responsibility, but she just couldn’t take ‘no’ for an answer. And that’s when she threatened to inform my wife of my infidelity,” he sighed, “I couldn’t have her telling Betsy anything, Eve…”

“Is that so,” she glared at him.

“Anyways, Olivia found out that you were pregnant, how, I don’t know, but she wanted to hurt you for taking Julian from her, and that’s when she blackmailed me to inform you for the loss of your baby, and then she kidnapped her and left her to Julian on his doorstep…”

“But what was the point in giving my baby to him…he was still the father…”

“True, very true, but she wanted it to seem as if you had given your baby away because you didn’t want her for all the ‘problems’ she had caused in your life, and if Julian had known this; he’d hate you even more.”

“That little B*TCH!” Eve shook her head, “And all along I thought she was my friend,” her eyes then met the doctor’s, “And why are you so willing to tell me this now?!”

“Well, because she doesn’t have anymore leverage over me, since Betsy died a year ago with breast cancer,” he said sadly, “Eve, I’m sorry…I really am.”

“Not as sorry as I am,” she stood up and looked down on him, “You just wait until Julian deals with you! THEN you’ll be SORRY!” she turned and left his office.
---

Eve never went home to see Jordan, but she did inform Mrs. Matthews that she had to take care of things, and that Julian was awake now.
---

She rang the doorbell to a very familiar house, and a woman answered.

“Hello,” Olivia opened the door, “Eve!” she gasped, “It’s been so long! Come in, come in…”

But before Olivia could finish her sentence, Eve shoved her in and shut the door behind her.

Olivia knew the jig was up and shoved Eve against the back of the door. The knob had hit her lower back and Eve flinched as she watched Olivia run up the stairs.

“Oh no, I know that TRICK just didn’t lay a finger on me!” she seethed, “Oh-ho…it’s on, like DONKEY KONG!” she marched up the stairs in search of her dear ol’ best friend.
