The Imposter II (an alternate version), Chapter 7 (Evian)
by ejcrane

Wanting to surprise Eve for a romantic lunch he had planned for them, Julian arrived at the hospital. Eve just happened to look up from one of her charts when she saw him walking down the other hallway. Ugh, why was he here?! Well…she’d show him!

Michael…Michael…Michael Smith…THERE HE WAS!

Eve walked up to her colleague and did a little flirting, when she saw Julien walk around the corner. He stopped short when he witnessed Eve and this other doctor in each other’s arms…KISSING! Julian was about to walk up to the man and beat the sh*t out of him for having his hands on Eve…but he noticed something…

Eve didn’t seem to be pulling back. In fact…her arms were wrapped around his neck and she had pulled his body closer to hers…

What the hell?! All this time he believe his brother to be the bastard, but in reality…the two were both unfaithful son of a b*tches?!

He shook his head in disgust and turned around and left!

It had been a little after midnight and Eve still was not home, even though she was due back home around six in the evening.

Finally, the front door opened and the first thing she saw was Julien sitting in the foyer with a glass of scotch in one hand.

Her shirt was untucked and her stockings were hanging out of her purse…AND, her hair was pulled back, Julian noticed.

“Where were you, Eve? Didn’t think you needed to call?” he raised a brow as he brought the glass to his lips and gulped the last of its contents.

“I’m going to bed,” she said, ignoring his question and walked past him to the stairs, but stopped when she heard Julian get up out of his chair.

He was walking towards the door.

“Where are you going? It’s late, Julien!”

“I’ve got things to do, Eve…” he winked and left.

Two hours passed, and Julien still wasn’t home. Waiting up for her husband, Eve finally decided that she was just going to confront Julien about this “Gianna”, and what the hell they had going on?!

Arriving at Crane Industries, Eve took a deep breath before going into the building. She was trying to prepare herself for what she may find, since of course, Julien was there…his car was outside, but Eve didn’t know why, she just had a feeling that he wasn’t alone…

Outside his office door, Eve looked up to the name plate, exhaled and then entered. Julien was sitting behind his desk with a pen in his hand…but, there was something different about him…he was chewing gum. Julien never liked chewing gum; he always said it made him look unprofessional.

“Eve? May I help you?”

“I don’t know…” she replied sarcastically, “Maybe you can tell me who this ‘Gianna’ woman is?”

Julian rolled his eyes.

“I’ve already told you…she’s…”

“A woman in a porn movie?” she scoffed, “Ohh, really? So, LAST NIGHT she just decided to contact you because she knew you were watching her MOVIE?!”

“It was you…” Julian gasped and stood.

“Me? Yes…I was on the line…I HEARD every damn word! How…” she shook her head, “How could you?”

“Eve…I’m so sorr—” he paused, “Wait a minute…WHAT ABOUT YOU?! Where were you all night, hmm?”

Eve said nothing to that and looked away.

“Were you with him, Eve?”

She turned her head to him and looked him in the eyes.

“What if I was?” she simply said.

The next thing shocked her.

Julian picked up his laptop and flung it to the wall!

“WHY, DAMNIT?! WHY? WHY?!” he shouted.

Eve trembled.

“And YOU?! Have you been with HER?!”

“Yes.”

Something in Eve broke. She let out a short gasp as tears streamed down her face.

“What did I do? What was wrong with me?” she sobbed.

Julian couldn’t take it anymore! He hated seeing her this way, and rushed to her.

“Nothing, my darling…you did nothing,” he whispered into her hair, “I was with Gianna way before you and I met…” he said, which was the truth.

“You’ve never been with her…while…we’ve…been married…”

“Never…never,” his lips met hers.

“Julien,” she cried and held onto him.

“Shhh, let’s go home, Eve…”

“No, Eve…not tonight…I’m a little beat,” he sighed and laid on his back and stared at the ceiling.

“Okay,” she replied sadly and went back to her side of the bed.

He needed to do this; he needed to be faithful to Gianna, because this “thing” he had going on with Eve wasn’t going to last once Julien came back…and once he’d come back, then Julian would be free to marry his fiancée.

“I want to hold you though,” Julian said, turning on his side so that his body was pressed against her back, “May I?”

“Please…” she smiled and pulled his arms tighter around her, “Julien?”

“Mm-hmm?”

“I was never with…with, Michael…”

“I know that, darling…”

“What?!” she turned over and looked at him, “How?!”

“Because after I saw the way you came home, I went straight to the hospital to kick the living sh*t out of that doctor friend of yours…”

“Julien! You didn’t?!”

“And after he denied touching you…” Julian yawned, “I don’t know…there was something in his eyes that said he was telling the truth…so, that’s when I went to the office to cool down…”

“Oh.” She said and turned back over so that Julian was holding her again.

“Goodnight, Eve…” Julian said and closed his eyes.

“Night…” she stayed there, with her eyes opened and stared out in front of her, feeling his breath upon her neck.

Why hadn’t he wanted to touch her tonight? Did she turn him off?

“I just wanted to be a gentleman tonight…” he said out of the blue.

“What?”

“I didn’t want to make love tonight, because I just wanted to hold you…there are other ways to show love for one another…night, Eve…”

“Goodnight…” she wrinkled her brows.

How did he know what she was thinking? She didn’t know.

And the two drifted off to sleep…
