Kay sat at Simone’s bedside.

” You know Simone, I’m the biggest drama queen ever born, but this is a bit much, don’t you think? You’ve scared us all, and now it’s time for you to come back.”

Kay stroked Simone’s hair and then held her hand and began to cry.

” Simone, I miss you. You’re my best friend. You have to be ok. You have to be. Simone, Chad is SO not worth this. Do you know that he’s not even in Harmony anymore? Your sister got some sense, and sent him packing.”

Kay got up and walked to the window. She turned around and yelled at Simone.

” Simone Russell, get your ass up! Right now! This self-pity routine is PATHETIC! I expected more of you!”

Kay looked up to see Eve standing there.

” Dr. Russell, please understand. I..”

“ It’s alright, Kay. I know what you were trying to do. I’m going to leave you alone with Simone. She needs to be with friends. I have paperwork to do. “

” Thanks.”, Kay replied sheepishly.

Once Eve was gone, Kay sat by Simone’s side. “ I thought your mother was going to tell me off. But, she knows how much I love you. Simone, I wouldn’t admit this to anyone else. Hell, I don’t even think I’d admit it to you if you weren’t in a coma. But, I think I have to give up Miguel. What happened with you has changed things for me. Simone, I’m so tired.  I’ve tried every lie and scheme in the book to get Miguel, and nothing has worked. I had another doctor’s appointment, and he didn’t show up for it – AGAIN. I’m so tired, Simone. I think I might have just made the biggest mistake of my life. I wish you were here to yell at me, Simone.”

Kay sat next to Simone and put on the radio, listening to a CD that Kay had burned for Simone.
 

Eve sat on a bench in the Hospital’s garden when Julian walked by.

“ Hello, Eve.”

” Julian.”

” May I sit down?”

” Sure.”

” How are you?”

” Fine.”

” Did you take my advice about Liz?”

” Actually, I did. She’s out.”

” Back to St. Lisa’s?”

” No. There’s a couple of rooms above the Blue Note.”

” Oh. Anymore threats from her?”

” Not for awhile, and I have to admit that it makes me nervous.”

” Why?”

” Look at what Liz has done, Julian? She saw me, and she changed her entire life to come here for revenge.”

” Don’t kid yourself, Eve. Liz had no life before coming here. Even when she was functioning in St. Lisa’s, it’s obvious that her life was consumed by the desire to get revenge on you one day.”

Eve took in that information, and was quiet.

” Eve, what are you thinking?”

” Julian, if you’re right, and all Liz has been thinking about for years is revenge on me, what is going to stop her? What is going to stop her from getting her revenge?”

” Eve…”

” No, Julian. I’ve never had it put as clear as you have right now. The woman is my sister, and all I can see is a threat to my life and my family. If I hadn’t..”

“ Eve, get real. Every child in America goes through a time where they want to explore different things. I want you to rid yourself of all this guilt. Eve, you didn’t even KNOW about her molestation. Not only did you not KNOW, but Liz is holding YOU responsible for the life she never had. You were no older than SIMONE is now! COME ON!!! Liz has problems. Problems she’s been unwilling to solve HERSELF. You did NOT have it easy, and you cleaned yourself up, and forged ahead, despite all the pain and heartache I cause you.”

” Oh Julian..”

” Eve, nobody knows more than I do what loving me cost you all those years ago. It should have broken you.”

” It almost did.”, Eve said quietly.

” But, it didn’t. You forged ahead and worked hard. It’s part of the reason I love you so much. You are NOT responsible for Liz. You simply aren’t. And, she’s using your guilt against you. Don’t let her do that, Eve. The woman is a snake. I’m a snake, so I should know.”

Eve smiled slightly. “ You trying to make me feel better?”

” No. I’m trying to make you realize that of the list of people that you might have wronged – Liz’s name should NOT be on that list. She’ll try and destroy your life, without a second thought, Eve. No second thought for her.”
 

“ Liz, why did you call me down here?”, TC asked as he entered the Blue Note.

” Because, TC, I think it’s time that you learned the truth about your loving wife.”

” What are you talking about, Liz?”

” I’m talking about THIS!” Liz had emptied the contents of her infamous briefcase onto the bar.

“ You need to know THE TRUTH, TC!”

” The truth.”

” About your wife.”

” You said that already, Liz. What the hell are you talking about? “

” Look at this, TC! Look at it!”

TC looked at all the documents on the table. “ What is this? Why do you haves young pictures of Eve ?”

” Because, we are family. EVE is my rotten sister.”

” Eve? Now, you’re crazy.” TC begins to leave, but Liz stops him.

” No! You’re going to listen to this. Eve is the sister that I’ve been talking about.”

” Eve…is your sister…the sister who abandoned you. You’re telling me that Eve let you be molested.”

” Yes. Eve left home, and because of it, I was molested. Eve was a lounge singer. Her music was more important than her family.”

” See, I know you’re lying, because Eve doesn’t like music. She never has.”

” Man, will get off being stuck on stupid! Eve’s been lying to you! She’s lied to you for years! She IS my sister. She left home to be a lounge singer. That destroyed my family. When I needed her, she wasn’t there. That’s when she met Julian.”

” Julian? Julian Crane? What the hell does he have to do with any of this?”

” Julian and Eve met years ago. They were lovers, TC. They are STILL lovers.”

” NO! Eve would never become involved with Julian. He’s a slimeball. She could never have feelings for him. She’d never let him touch her.”

” He did a lot more than touch. Not only did she touch him, she had his baby – a son. The boy that she’s LIED to you about. Pretended that was yours. It was JULIAN’S!”

” Liar!”

” No, TC. I’m not the liar. Eve is. She’s played you for a fool! A complete fool! So, what are you going to do?”

TC looked at Liz for a few moments. “ Why did you tell me this?”

“ Because, you deserved to know the truth.”

” You could have told me this the day you met me. Why did you pick THIS time, above others to tell me? When my child is in a COMA? When my daughter needs her ENTIRE FAMILY? Why the fuck would you tell me these things.”

” Because, I care for you, TC. I care for you so much. I..”

” Shut the fuck up. You don’t give a shit about me. If you did, you’d know that I’d want to be able to give my all to my family, and what you’ve told me stops that. Because, I now have something else on my mind. No, you didn’t do this because you give two shits about me. You want to break up my marriage. Why, because of the couple of kisses we’ve shared, you’d think I’d give up my marriage for the likes of you? Woman, puleeze. Not going to happen. I AM going to tell you what IS going to happen. You are NEVER , and I mean NEVER to contact me or anyone else in my family. You are not to approach Eve, Whitney or Simone. You are not to go near them. If you do, you will be sorry. I’m surprised I didn’t see it before. You’re a sad, pathetic, bitch of a woman. What you might say about Eve is true. All that shit might have happened in her past, but I know that’s not the woman that I’ve shared my life with for the past 20 years. Eve might have had problems; if she did, we’ll work them out. But, she cleaned up her life, didn’t she? She’s worked hard and I admire her for it. YOU on the other hand, are a pathetic excuse for a human being. You have nothing in your life, and don’t blame Eve for that. It’s YOUR fault. “

” It’s not! It her fault for leaving the family. If she..”

TC put up his hand.

“ Goodbye Liz. If I never talk to you again, it will be too soon.”

TC left the Blue Note and made it to his car. He realized his hands were shaking. Did Liz tell the truth? Was Eve involved with Julian and had a baby by him? TC knew he had to find out the answers.
