Chapter 6

“Simone, are you sure I should be wearing something like this? I am not comfortable with wearing something so-”

“Appealing? Whit, you don’t look that bad. You look good.” Simone complimented, smiling.

Whitney kind of frowned while taking a glimpse in the mirror, checking out her black mini skirt and the sheer black blouse with her lacy bra inside. “But it’s showing my bra, Simone. I am not comfortable with this at all.”

“Girl, will you chill—it’s the latest look. It’s flattering and cute. And no, you don’t look like a slut, if that is what you’re implying.” Simone stated before Whitney could utter a word.

“Does my hair look all right?” Whitney questioned frantically.

Boy, she is falling for Fox more than she is willing to admit. She’s got it bad for him. “Your hair looks beautiful. Your hairstyle definitely accentuates your features and your sexy apparel, girl. Now quit worrying. Fox is going to drool over you.” Simone ensured her.

“Thanks, Simone.” Whitney pulled her baby sister into a hug. “I don’t know what I would I do if I hadn’t had you in my life.” She held onto her tightly.

“No, prob, Whit. That’s what sisters are for.” She beamed, releasing herself from Whitney’s embrace. “Now, you party yourself silly. And tell me all about it once you get back.” Simone encouraged her.

“I will return back here. Don’t you worry …” Whitney informed her.

“Who said anything about you being back here after you get out of HDU? Take all the time you need with Fox. I think it’s good you’re letting someone else in your life other than me and my boyfriend Alan.” Simone whispered softly.

“You think so?” Whitney blinked at her nervously.

“I know so. Go, and don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine.” Simone winked at her as Whitney giggled.

“You naughty girl.” Whitney teased.

What? I am simply being on my best behavior.” Simone pretended to be coy.

“Whatever. Later.” Whitney grabbed her black trench coat out of the closet and departed from her home with Simone inside.

Fox was at Harmony’s Down Under, expecting for Whitney to show, however he’s calm as the sea. He’s confident that she will appear tonight. She’s too clever to resist. A sneaky grin dawned upon his visage, as he was distracted from his train of thought. He was on his feet and headed towards the object of his motive/affection promptly. Being struck with aroused emotions on how lovely she is looking this evening. The way her long, straightened tresses had rested against her back was flattering her dainty countenance.

“Whitney, so glad you have made it!” He yelled over the thumping music.

“Thanks! You don’t look too bad yourself!” She shouted back.

Fox leaned closer to her ear and whispered, “Why don’t we go somewhere a little more quieter?”

Whitney nodded her head and held onto his hand, letting him lead the way. Fox and Whitney went to the second floor where the balcony was located. The music wasn’t competing as much like on the first floor and there’s not too many people drinking and partying away either. Whitney rested her arm on the ledge of the balcony.

Fox was so tempted to seduce her, but he knew better than to tip her off. He stood next to her and inhaled softly, ready to begin their conversation. “So, would you like to tell me why you’re not in any current relationships?” He pumped casually.

Whitney kept her eyes away from the attractive man and responded to his query. “Fox, you know why. After what I thought was love—it turned out it really isn’t. I don’t want to get burned again. Love has too many heartbreaks.” She grumbled.

“How do you know for certain that love solely promises heartbreaks? Whitney, you can’t avoid getting your heart broken. It’s inevitable.” He told her candidly.

“It can be avoided. Look if we’re here to talk about why I am not experienced in relationships, you can just save it. I knew it was a big mistake coming here to meet you. I told my sister it was a bad idea—but no, she thinks it would be a good opportunity to put the past behind me—evidently, I can’t. I hope you’ll find your little thrill with someone else. Goodnight, Fox.” She hissed, sauntering away.

“Whitney, whoa, whoa, whoa, wait—wait a minute. I don’t want you to go. I am sorry for pressing too much!” Fox blocked her entrance suddenly.

Whitney became frustrated and annoyed with his interference. “Fox, get out of my way. I can’t deal with you pumping me like some common criminal.”

“No, I refuse to let you by. And that’s not what I was doing. I’m sorry you took it offensively. I was just curious why a graceful lady like you have to close yourself off from the world. So, you were dealt with a bad hand. But out of every bad bunch, there’s a good one hidden underneath.”

“I always thought it was a spoiled apple ruins the whole bunch?” she shook her head at his twisted antics.

“Sweetheart, listen to me … you have to accept the bad as well as the good. You’ll never appreciate life if you’re only looking for good to come.” He sagely advised her.

“Sounds like to me you had a fair share of heartache.” Whitney muttered.

“Yes, more than your pretty head can fathom. If it’ll make you feel better I will not discuss relationships—until you are ready to.” He assured her.

“Really?” Whitney started to ease up on the man before her.

“Yes, it’s your world, and I can play by your rules.” At least he was telling the partial truth.

“Fox, it’s not about rules … all I want for you to be is my friend.” Whitney enlightened him.

“Only friends.” He returned in half question, half agreement.

“Yes. Do you have a problem with that?”

“Not at all …” he held his hands up, surrendering. “Would you like for me to buy you a drink?”

“Fox, it’s not necessary I can pay for my own beverage.”

“Whitney, I insist.” He emphasized.

“Fox, I don’t want you to think-”

“You’re a gold digger? No way, you don’t strike me as an opportunist. I’m just offering. Is it a crime for a fellow to be nice to his lady friend?” He quizzed, arching a brow.

“No, I guess not. Do you know what they’re serving?” Whitney wondered.

“Yeah, I know what to get you—you leave everything to me.” He cuddled her cheek carnally, which made her insides quaver erratically. “Will you still be here when I get back?” He teased.

“Yes, I’ll be here.” She chuckled. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Fox smiled sensually, “You better not either.” He clings onto his lower lip, aching to touch her feminine form. His libido was reacting with sexual impulse. God, Fox, you need to get a grip. She only wants to be your friend—but you can push it farther than what she intends—you need to do this. You need to prove to Theresa and—that you can move on. You have been burned twice—why think the third time will be a charm? He blinded those alarming thoughts out of his mind.

He ambled to the hallway where the elevator was at and he hurried inside before the doors had closed. “Whitney, you are just the leverage I need to stick to her and definitely to Theresa. It’s a good thing Stephen doesn’t know about the other girl I fell in love with after Theresa had kicked me to the curve.” He murmured and found his way to the first floor.

Fox grinned widely when he saw the ash blonde haired woman named Samantha working behind the counter tonight. “Hey, Sami, how are you?”

“Hey, cutie. What can I get for you tonight?” Samantha winked at him seductively.

“I would like two Hurricanes.” He pulled out a Benjamin as Samantha’s eyes widened.

“Fox, you don’t need to do that. It’s on the house.” Samantha offered.

“No, Sami, this is the least I can do ever since you have consoled me on the night I had my heart broken. Keep the change.” He gave her the hundred-dollar bill as she took it hesitatingly. “They’ll be up in a few.”

“Okay, thanks.” He shifted his seat around and sighed. Whitney, I don’t care what it takes. I will make you give in. no lady can resist the Fox. No lady can. He contemplated haughtily.

“Here you go.” Samantha replied, giving the two drinks Fox had ordered five minutes later.

“Thanks, Sami. Take care of yourself, you hear?” He waved at her.

“Same to you, Mr. Heartbreak.” Sami joked wholeheartedly.

“Ha, ha, very funny.” He retorted, slipping away with the two glasses in his hand.

“Took you long enough.” Whitney smirked.

“Hey, it’s not my fault it’s a full house tonight.” He shrugged, passing her her drink.

“Thanks.” She raised the glass to her lips and began sipping. She merely choked. “My, God, what is this?” She coughed somewhat.

“That’s the Hurricane. You like?” He chortled, finding her innocence to be cute. He can tell she is still sheltered to a certain degree; it’s so obvious that she doesn’t drink much alcohol.

“It’s good … why did you order me this?” She put her glass down on the transparent table.

“To loosen you up—I want you to have a good time, Miss Whitney.” He pushed his glass aside and focused on her intently.

“What? Why are you looking at me like that?” Whitney blushed.

“It hurts me to see a woman who possesses such pulchritude has to be alone—I know, I know we’re not supposed to talk about relationships, Whit, but I can’t help myself when it concerns you. You have so much to offer to the world. And I wish I could-” he had to cease his words, not wanting to sound like an idiot in front of her.

“You wish you could what, Fox? I’m listening.” Whitney bit her bottom lip, marveling on what this sexy guy has to say next.

“No, I don’t want to sound too lame—you might think it’s corny anyway.” Fox dismissed their conversation.

“No, Fox, tell me. I want to hear what you have to say.” Whitney hopped out of her seat and placed herself in his lap.

Fox groaned inwardly when he felt her soft behind rubbing against his swollen manhood, turning him on devilishly. “Tell me, Fox. What are you thinking?” Her breath hits his mouth intimately, causing him to crave her even more.

“I wish I could show you what it’s like to be free—to come inside my world and I can give you whatever your heart desire and much, much more.” His hands fell to her legs, rubbing her smooth skin tenderly.

“I thought we were keeping it platonic?” She locked her eyes on him intensely, yearning to kiss his scrumptious lips.

“We are ... I was only stating if I could—I would. But since we’re just friends, I have to respect your wishes, pretty lady.” He rushed his fingers through her hair playfully, tucking her strands behind her ears.

The way the palms of his hands were petting her cheeks was gratifying to her senses. “Fox, I …”

“Yes, Whitney?” His chest was rising and falling from one breath gently.

“You really want to be my friend, don’t you?” She cornered him off with her hands touching the chair’s armrests, keeping him in one spot.

“More than anything.” He rejoined ardently and went for the kill by brushing his mouth on hers, smothering with precise kisses, which had her hungry for more of his osculation.

“Mm,” she moaned, indulging their kiss entirely as her feelings begins to deepen for him.

“Whitney, I can stop if you want me to …” he had to break himself away from their passionate lip locking. “I have no business kissing you.” He leaned back, staring into her dark brown orbs.

Whitney became uncertain and removed herself from his lap. “I’m so sorry for misleading you. I feel like such a fool. I have to go …” she cried, running away from him.

“No, Whitney, wait!” He called out to her while murmuring an obscene word, chasing after her.

“Fox, I am being a hypocrite. I told you I want to be friends with you … and look what I did? I did the complete opposite! I need to go … please forget what happened.” Whitney took off again and made it to the sidewalk, waiting for a taxi.

Fox refused to let her get away from him again and held her back from parting. “Whitney, I don’t want you to go. I didn’t mind you kissing me. I liked it … I liked it a lot. I’ll kiss you only if you want me to.” He notified her.

Whitney was speechless and confounded by all what’s happening to her so swiftly. “Fox, I am so sorry.”

“Whitney, please hush.” He ravished her mouth affectionately, allowing his tongue to mesh with hers, pushing it back and forth, as she desired for more.

Whitney swung her arms around his neck, getting into their precious moment while a sweet whimper escaped from her lungs. She stood back and said, “Fox, take me back to your place … please take me … I want you so badly.”

“Your wish is my command.” He growled feverishly and led her to his new BMW and they returned back to his place, breaking through the door with enticing kisses they were exchanging towards each other.
