A Night of Passion, Chapter 13 (Evian)
by ejcrane
His day at summer camp was over, and he was to go to his father’s home for
the weekend, but J.J. wasn’t too excited about visiting with his biological
father. He wanted to be at home with his mother, his things, and the father
he knew.
“J.J.!” Julian shouted excitedly as he watched his son come in through the
front door, “You finally made it!” he rushed to him and hugged him, but didn’t
feel the same excitement from his son, “Well,” he pulled from him, “What shall
we do first?” he smiled down at him and then walked back to the couch.
“Uh…Julian?”
Julian stopped in place and turned around slowly, not believing that his
own son called him by his name.
“Yes?” he asked sadly, “Did you want to say something?”
“I wanted to ask if it was okay if I can go home instead of staying here
for the weekend?”
Julian swallowed.
“Uh, sure, buddy,” he nodded, “…if that’s what you want. We can just visit
each day and then I’ll be happy to take you home…”
“No,” J.J. shook his head, “I…I don’t need to come here…at all. I already
have a father at home…” he said, mumbling his last sentence so his real father
wouldn’t be able to hear.
But Julian did hear him, and it crushed him…
“Whatever you’d like, son…J.J.” he nodded, “I wouldn’t want you to go anywhere
you didn’t feel comfortable…I’ll keep my distance from you…if that is what
you want…”
J.J. simply nodded.
“Well,” Julian cleared his throat, “You have your things, right? Why don’t
we get going?” he escorted his son to the door.
“You’re going to take me?”
“No…I change my mind; I’ll have the driver drop you off at your mother’s…”
“Wh—what’s that?” J.J. pointed in front of them.
“It’s a ‘go-kart’. I thought we could have some fun, but since you aren’t
going to be visiting…it will go back…” he opened the door to the limo and
looked to his son.
J.J. got in and began to speak.
“Well, maybe…maybe we could still have some fun…before I leave,” he said,
his eyes never leaving the awesome ‘shiny’ toy in the driveway.
“Uh…no, I don’t think so,” Julian shrugged and gave him a polite smile,
“I already made arrangements to have it taken back…and I wouldn’t want it
banged up before I return it…”
“But…but we could be very careful with it…”
“I’ll see you later, J.J.” Julian shut the door and smiled on the outside,
while his heart was aching from the pain his son had just caused him.
J.J. arrived home and was still kicking himself for screwing up a weekend
that would’ve most likely been fun. What was he thinking?!
“J.J.?” Eve looked up from her desk, “What are you doing home? You’re supposed
to be at your father’s.”
“Julian sent me home,” he shrugged and went to his room.
“Sent you home?” Eve repeated to herself in confusion, “…why? Did something
happen?”
She walked to his room and entered.
“Honey, why did he send you home? Was something wrong?”
J.J. shrugged.
“I don’t know. Is dad coming home already? I want him to teach me how to
swing the racket right…”
“He’ll be home in a minute,” she finished and stared at her son as he went
on with his daily routine of video games.
Eve soon left his room and went over to the phone in the kitchen to call
Julian. The call ended seconds later when she found out that Julian wasn’t
free because he was in his bedroom taking a nap. She FUMED!
Why didn’t Julian want to spend time with their son?!
FINE! If he didn’t want anything to do with J.J., then he didn’t have to
have anything to do with him!
What she didn’t know was that Julian WAS in his bedroom, but he wasn’t napping…he
was trying to fight back the tears…
Days later, the giggles could be heard from his sister and their father
at the carnival Harmony had every year.
“Come on, Dad! You can do it!” Abby cheered on her father as he got ready
to throw a softball at stacked bottles, trying to knock them down.
Julian missed the first time, and threw his second ball when J.J. walked
up to them.
“Squirt!”
Hearing his daughter’s nickname for his son, Julian stopped and turned to
his children.
“Here, sweetheart, you play the last ball,” he handed her the ball, “I’m
just going to go over and check out the rest of the games…”
“But dad?” her laughter subsided as she watched him walk away, “This is
your favorite game…”
Standing next to Tc some distance away, Eve was just about to take a bite
out of her hotdog when she watched as Julian stopped playing the game and
walked away.
Why the hell was he avoiding their son?!
“That’s strange…he was having so much fun, and now he looks like he lost
his best friend…” she wrinkled her brows.
J.J. looked down and away.
“What’s that look for?”
“Nothing,” he whispered.
Eve handed her hotdog to Tc and told him she’d be back…
“Just what the hell is going on with YOU?!” she exclaimed.
“Hello to you too, Eve…” he replied as he threw a dart and popped a balloon.
“Why are you being so cruel to our son?! Huh?! Why?!”
“I have no idea what you are talking about…”
“Yes you do! You told him that you didn’t want him visiting and then you
brushed him off just now…when he went over to talk to you and Abby…” she glared
at him.
“I have nothing to say,” he looked to her and then placed the remaining
darts down and walked away.
As much as it hurt, Julian was going to abide by his son’s wishes.
“You damn coward!”
“Goodbye, Eve.”
A week before she was to leave for school, Abby was to have her birthday
party at the mansion.
Abby and a few of her friends were lounging around the pool when the guys
and Julian began tossing the football around.
Eve had just pulled up and an exciting J.J. jumped out of the car and ran
up to his sister with a gift…
“Oh, thanks, J.J.!” she hugged him.
Julian turned to see his son there and tossed the ball to one of the guys.
He faked a stretch and mentioned to Abby that he was tired and going inside
to take a nap…
“…but, daddy!”
J.J. stood still. He was getting tired of not being a part of Abby and Julian’s
life…it was more that he was jealous than tired.
“Mom…I think I want to go home, now…” J.J. admitted sadly.
“No…not until I speak to your father!”
Eve marched into the mansion and found Julian sipping some brandy.
“Is that all you can do?”
“Nope…” he set the glass down, “I can do this,” he raised his hand and shot
the finger at her.
She gasped and turned to leave with her child.
“No, I’m sorry…” he caught up to her and grabbed her from behind, “I’m sorry…”
he whispered into her ear, “I’m sorry…” he nibbled on her lobe and then traveled
down to her neck.
Eve pulled out of his arms and faced him.
“You shouldn’t be telling me that! You should tell our son that!”
“Why is that?” he replied sarcastically.
A slap was what he received.
J.J. gasped as he listened in on their conversation.
“I demand,” he gritted his teeth, “…an apology!” he gripped her arm.
“Yeah…right!”
“Just get out of here!” he shoved her away from him.
“I’ll never understand what I saw in you…”
“Maybe this will refresh your memory?” he pulled down his swimming trunks.
“Ugh…grow up!”
“You don’t like what you see, Eve?” he walked closer to her.
Eve rolled her eyes and looked the other way.
“Hmm, Eve?” he reached out for her hand and brought it to his manhood.
“How dare y--…” she shouted, then moaned as Julian pulled her into a kiss.
“I just need one more night with you, darling…one more night,” he whispered
onto her lips, “And I’ll never bother you or J.J. again…”
She pushed him from her.
“You’d just abandon your own son like that?!”
“Me?!” Julian pointed to himself and pulled up his pants, “He doesn’t want
anything to do with me!” his voice cracked as he shouted, “He said he already
had a father…and didn’t want to be here anymore…” a tear escaped his eye.
