This is a continued version of what I think could have happened after Eve and Julian’s last kiss in her office.

One Night
 
 

As Eve pulled away from Julian, she knew she had made a terrible mistake, she had just told him that there would basically never be anything else between them and then she kissed him. Now she had given him hope, he had already said that a man can dream, but she loved her husband and she wanted to make sure he knew it.
“Julian, that was wrong, I can’t ever do that again, do you understand me?” Eve said sitting on the couch.

“There was nothing wrong with it Eve, I wanted to and I didn’t want to stop.” He said looking at her.

“No, I love my husband more than words can say Julian, he is everything to me, we have a life together, we have children together, and I want to keep my marriage together.”

“But you kissed me.”

“We kissed each other and it was my fault.”

“It was nobody’s fault Eve, it just happened.”

“I told you I was feeling vulnerable Julian and sometimes when you feel that way, things happen right?”

He sat down next to her on the couch.

“Eve, things have been happening a lot between us lately, I know you love your husband, but do you love me?” Julian asked hopeful.

“Julian, you have been very kind to me and I do love you, but I can’t return the love.”

“Why Eve, why can’t we be together, why don’t you give us a shot?”

“You know why because I am married and I can’t be unfaithful to my husband.”

“We have already kissed, do you think that’s being faithful?”

“Kissing is one thing, but I can’t go beyond that Julian, I just can’t.” she said getting up.

Julian turned her around to look at him.

“Eve, look me in the eyes and tell me that you don’t love me. If you can do that, then I will believe that there will never be a chance for us. We had such a wonderful love and passion, do you remember that?” he asked.

“Of course Julian, but that’s in the past.”

“Please don’t deny your feelings for me.” Julian said.

“I’m not.”

“I think you are Eve, you are looking everywhere else but at me.”

She decided to look at him and stared for a few brief moments into his eyes. His eyes were so beautiful, so warm and giving, so…. she was at a loss for words after that.

“I love you Eve, you know how I feel about you. You know I love you more than words can say, please say you will give me a chance.”

“But what about T.C.?” Eve asked.

“You are married, I realize that Eve, but you don’t have to stay married to him, you can get a divorce and we can get married.”

“I can’t just pick up and change my life Julian, I have worked so hard to become a doctor and a good mother and wife.”

“You can still be a good mother and wife, but with me. And I would never ever ask you to give up your life as a doctor, you are well respected and everyone just loves you. You can continue the life you have lead but as a Crane.”

“Perish the thought.” Eve said.

“I can prove to you that I can make a great husband and a great father. Once we find our child, I will be the father I should have been so many years ago.” Julian said.

“I just can’t change my life for you.”

“Eve don’t be afraid to take a risk my darling, life could be so good for you. I will treat you like gold, I would do anything for you, I am in love with you Eve.”

“And what about your father Julian?”

“I don’t care about him or anything that has brought me down in the past years. Eve, we can move away, we can elope, whatever you want as long as I can be with you. Eve, do you love me and trust me? You know I am a changed man, don’t you?”

“Yes I do, but…”

“No buts Eve, I would give up everything in the world for you, my money, my life, I would take a job for minimum wage, anything just as long as I could be your husband. Please Eve, I screwed up everything when I listened to my father, I was stupid then, but I don’t want to be that now, what do you say, will you at least give me a chance? Why don’t you just try it, a date, give me one night to change your life Eve.”

“One night?”

“That is all I ask, if you are not happy after one night with me, then I will never bother you again, I promise.” Julian said.

“Fine, you have one chance.” Eve said hardly believing she was allowing this.

Julian’s eyes brightened like she had never seen them before. They made a date for that evening and when she was getting ready, Liz entered her room.

“Where are you off to?” she asked.

“Never mind Liz, I have some things to do.”

“Enjoy it, because when you come back, T.C. will be mine forever.”

Eve sighed, wondering if she should even be leaving the house, but Julian was right, she had to take this risk. She was able to get out of the house fairly easily, T.C. was at the gym. Liz had gone up to her room so she even took the risk to let Julian pick her up.

“Hello Eve.”

“No time to talk now, let’s just get in.” Eve said before Liz spotted them.

Eve had on a simple, yet elegant red dress. Her hair was pulled up with a few tresses around her face.

“Oh Eve, you look just gorgeous.” Julian said smiling.

“Thank you Julian.”

He was wearing a black long sleeved shirt with one of his top of the line blazers over it and a pair of khaki pants, he looked quite smart.

“So where are we going?” Eve asked.

“Well I thought we might have a bite to eat, but first, if you want to, I would love to talk some more.” Julian said.

“Talk?”

“Yes Eve, I have a few things I want to say to you.”

“Where are we going to have this talk?” she asked.

“Right here in the limo Eve, it’s private and I think it would be fine.”

“Well okay then.”

“Eve, listen to me my dear, I have told you time and time again, you know how I feel about you. There is no one in this world I love more than you. Not Rebecca, not Ivy, only you sweetheart. I was true to my word that if you wanted to keep your marriage to T.C., I would help you. But the love and passion that we once shared, I don’t think you have ever had with T.C. He knows you, but not like I know you. Eve, I would do anything and I mean anything to be with you. You just have to name your price.”

“Julian, I don’t want you using any kind of tactics involving money.”

“No what I mean is I will do whatever you want Eve, that is how much I love you, please give me the chance to make you happy. I know I sound desperate, but my love for you is so strong, I can’t help myself Eve. I have never ever loved anyone as much as I have loved you, you have to believe me when I say that Eve. I will be your husband, your lover, your best friend, I will be everything you could ever want in a man, if you only give me a chance to love you.”

She looked at him, almost with tears in her eyes.

“Darling, I will never judge you, I will love you unconditionally forever. You are so beautiful inside and out Eve, do you know that?”

“Oh Julian.”

“I promise to never judge you, just love you and respect you Eve. My love for you is so real; you just can’t imagine what it feels like to be able to have a chance with you. All along I truly wanted you to be happy with T.C., but I can’t help that I love you more than anything in this world. Now I just figure that life is too short and if you will let me try a relationship with you, the possibilities could be endless.”

“But you want to be my husband, you want to marry me, that is a lot of pressure since I am still married.”

“Eve, I am sorry, but it’s what I want in the end, but I am willing to be as patient as I have been, take it one day at a time with you if that is what you want. Your needs come before anything else, I do realize that Eve.”

She looked at Julian, how much he wanted this, how much he loved her and hoped. She closed her eyes for one brief moment and then looked at him very carefully.

“Alright Julian.” She said finally.

“Alright Eve?”

“Okay, I will give you this chance, we will see how things go.”

“My God Eve, how I have waited for this day forever, oh thank you my darling, thank you Eve. I will make you the happiest woman in the world.”

She was taking a big chance on her part, but life was too short and she felt like she had to see if he was meant to be her life partner.

“So what do you want to do right now?” Eve asked.

“What I have wanted to do for a lifetime Eve, kiss you with all of my heart and soul and never let you go.”

And that is just what he did.
