A Passion That Can’t Be Denied- Second Installment

Julian and Eve spent some quality time together in L.A., enjoying each other’s company. It was unfortunate that they had had to say their goodbyes once again to go back to their real lives. Eve had returned to the hospital and even though she had loads of work to do, she was having trouble focusing on it. Julian and T.C. were occupying her every thought that afternoon; she couldn’t help but think about the two men who were in her life. She sat there with a file in her hand, reading over the patient’s notes, but nothing was really sinking in.

“Snap out of it Eve, you are here to work, not think about your personal life.” She said to herself.

But it was so difficult to concentrate so she decided it was time to take a break and get a coffee. She opened up the office door, coming face to face with Julian. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw him.

“Hi.”

“Hi Eve, may I come in?”

“I was just stepping out to get a coffee actually, having a little trouble concentrating.”

“Is something wrong sweetie, is there anything I can do to help?” he asked.

“Actually, if you can believe it, you are the reason I am having trouble concentrating Julian.”

“Me?”

“Yes, actually I am thinking about you and T.C.”

“Uh oh my dear, are you having second thoughts?”

“No Julian, not at all, I do love you, I really do, and it’s just a bit difficult for me to still absorb all that has happened.” Eve said.

“What can I do to make you feel better Eve? Would you prefer that maybe I keep my distance for a bit? I don’t want to get in the way of your work honey. The last thing I want to do is have you stressed out because of me. You deal with enough of it on a regular basis with being a doctor.”

“No that’s okay Julian, I don’t want you to keep your distance.”

“Eve, I totally support and understand what being a doctor means to you so I will do anything to make sure you can do your job, even if it means giving you some space.”

“Julian, can I say something?”

“Yes of course.”

“I want to thank you.”

“For what sweetie?”

“For standing by my career, unlike T.C., you do understand that I have to work long hours.”

“Exactly why I think it’s important that I give you some breathing room.”

“Thanks for being considerate, but to be honest, I don’t want that much space, I have missed you. It’s just that things have changed so much and it’s silly of me to be focusing on everything else but my work. I should know better, I am always telling the girls to remember what’s important in life, education, a good career.”

“That is very true Eve, but don’t forget, there is more to life than just that.” Julian said.

“I want both of the girls to focus on getting good jobs, no matter what they are. They have both been hurt and they need a distraction, especially Whitney.”

“Sweetheart, there will be someone else out there for Whitney, I know there will be, just give it some time. You look after everyone else Eve, your patients, your daughters, but don’t forget to make time for you.” He said kissing her cheek.

“You are always so concerned about me Julian.” She said smiling.

“Why wouldn’t I be Eve, part of loving you is being here for you. I want to make sure you are okay.”

“Hey by the way, where’s Rebecca?”

“Why would you bring up her name now?” Julian said.

“I just wondered how you managed to untie that leash she has on you.” Eve said smiling.

“She is off doing… actually I don’t know and I don’t care either. I told you Eve, I would make time to see you, you know how it is, but being a Crane, I have many business meetings to be present at.”

“Oh you do?”

“Yes, I have one now unfortunately.” Julian said frowning.

“Oh okay, well then I will let you get to it, I should get back to work.” Eve said.

“No Eve, the meeting is actually with you.”

“What do you mean Julian?”

Julian walked over to the door and locked it, looking at her quite devilishly.

“What in the world are you doing may I ask? I don’t have a lot of time to spare right now and I am just longing for a caffeine fix Julian.”

“Honey, never mind about the bloody coffee, I will have a shipment sent to the office if you need it that badly.” He said laughing.

“I really do have work to do Julian.”

But he didn’t listen, instead he moved her over to the edge of her desk, he took off his suit jacket and tie.

“You are so stubborn, do you know that?” Eve said.

“What was that, I only have selective hearing.”

“Yes typical man.”

“I was wondering Eve, since you are on duty, I have been feeling a bit under the weather, perhaps you could give me a physical?”

“Julian!”

“No really, I am overdue for one, so would you like me to strip down to my boxers or beyond that?” he said laughing.

“You are so bad.” She said playfully hitting his arm.

“I am just teasing dear, just wanted to see that beautiful smile of yours.”

“Well it worked, but I really do need to get back to work.”

“I know that darling.”

“But thank you for stopping by to see me.”

“Anytime Eve, oh just one more thing?” he said.

“Yes?”

He undid a few buttons on his oxford shirt and placed her hand on his chest and kissed her neck quite seductively.

“Julian….”

“Yes my love?” he said playing with her hair.

“You really have to stop, you know you do.” She said enjoying his kisses, but trying to resist them.

He sighed at her, but stopped.

“Well if I must, I must then sweetheart, okay, I guess I better let you get that coffee, I know after seeing you I am going to need some kind of a fix myself.” He said fanning himself.

“You are so crazy Julian.”

“Only about you my dear.”

“I will see you later then.” She said unlocking the door.

“Alright Eve.”

He kissed her lightly on the mouth and was on his way.
