He kissed her goodbye and shut the door behind him, deciding to grab a coffee before heading back to the mansion. He sat there, watching as people walked by when he noticed a woman with her newborn. He got up for a moment to go over to her.
“Is this your first?” he asked.

“Yes.” The woman said smiling proudly.

“She is lovely, what’s her name if you don’t mind me asking?”

“Carrie, wait a minute, aren’t you Julian Crane?” the woman asked.

“Yes I am.”

“I thought that was you.”

“Have we met?”

“No, but everyone knows the Cranes, are you visiting someone?” she asked.

“You could say that.” He said smiling.

“I’m Marie by the way.”

“Hi Marie, nice to meet you.”

“Well I would love to stay and chat, but Carrie is hungry.”

“Of course.” Julian said smiling.

He was really going to love being a new father; he was really looking forward to it.

“Who was that?”

Julian turned around to see Fox standing there.

“Why?”

“Well you seemed to know her, is that an old flame?” he asked.

“Certainly not Fox, don’t be silly.”

“Okay just checking, are you here to see Dr. Eve?”

“Maybe.”

“That means yes, I have to say I feel sorry for you.”

“Sorry for me?”

“Yes because you love her so much and you can’t be with her, I guess I am more fortunate that I will get my chance to be with Whitney.”

“Remember what I told you, you be good to her.”

“Now don’t start lecturing me again father.”

“I’m not, I gave up on that, it’s obvious that you do love her, but be careful, if you know what I mean.” Julian said.

“Yeah I know what you mean, I am not a player father.”

“Oh but you were Fox, don’t even think of putting another notch on the Crane belt with Whitney, she is too special, just like her mother.”

“I love Whitney too much, besides your belt must be as long as the wall of China.” He said smiling.

“How can I be serious here and talk to you if you insist on being sarcastic with me? I thought you wanted to try to break ground here.”

“Patience is a virtue, go and see Dr. Eve, I am going to see Whitney.”

Julian did want to have a relationship with Fox, he was the smart one who was going to defy him and be with her as he wished he defied Alistair in the first place. Though Julian was grateful to be able to be with Eve, even if it was later in life. He had to give Fox credit for wanting to go after the woman he loved. Fox left and Julian decided it was high time he left the hospital, he didn’t want Eve to think he was just hanging around at her workplace, the last thing he wanted was to be unprofessional. He was just walking out the doors when he came face to face with T.C.

“Get out of my way Crane!” he said irritated.

“Sorry.”

“You should be, why is it everywhere I go in this town I run into you and it always seems to be somewhere near my wife?”

“Coincidence?” Julian said shrugging his shoulders.

“Don’t give me that, I am keeping my eye on you Julian.” T.C. said angrily.

“Don’t bother.” Julian said dryly.

“What did you say?” T.C. said grabbing Julian by his shirt.

“Take your hands off me!” Julian said annoyed.

“Oh what are you going to do about it?”

“Whatever I have to.” He said staring at T.C. coldly.

“Oh really, is that a threat?” T.C. asked.

“T.C. we are in a hospital, get a hold of yourself, I am not going to fight you. You see unlike you I use my brains instead of my fists, but if you cross the line, look out.” Julian said.

T.C. glared at him, but then let go of his shirt.

“Forget it, you are not worth my time.”

He then walked away from Julian. He knew T.C.’s temper was going to be the main problem when the truth came out, but he would do everything to protect Eve even if it meant getting a few punches from the brute. T.C. went up to the desk, looking for Eve.

“Have you seen my wife?” he said to the nurse.

“Her name sir?”

“Oh come on, how can you not know my wife, where have you been, on Mars?” he said rudely.

“Sir, I am new here.”

“Oh sorry, I am looking for Dr. Russell.”

“She will be back in a few minutes, she is with a patient.”

“Okay.”

Eve returned and was surprised to see T.C. sitting there.

“T.C. is something wrong?” Eve asked.

“That damn Julian Crane, where does he get off trying to threaten me?”

“What are you talking about?”

“Oh I ran into the loser on the way in.” T.C. said angrily.

“Would you just get over it, God T.C., all you do is knock Julian, is his name the only word in your vocabulary?” Eve asked.

“What is your problem?” he asked.

“Nothing, what are you doing here?”

“I just came to see how you are feeling Eve.”

“I would be fine and less stressed out if you would just not come here to see me and fly off the handle, you really should learn to control that temper of yours.”

Eve wanted to tell T.C. the truth so much, but there were people everywhere. She was not about to make a scene right there. But she was glad the truth would be coming out very soon, enough was enough of her living a life of unhappiness with T.C., and they were just too different now. She was glad the truth would be coming out very soon, enough was enough of her living a life of unhappiness with T.C., and they were just too different now. Julian returned to the mansion to find Gwen and Rebecca on the sofa.

“Pookie, come see my wedding dress.”

“I have phone calls to make.” He said pouring a glass of the usual.

“It’s really nice Julian.” Gwen said.

“I am sure it is, but I have to go.”

“Come now Julian, I will only be wearing it for a short time, then I will slip out of it for a passionate night of lovemaking.”

“Oh God, I need to tell her the truth too before she tries to bring little Julian up in the world, perish the thought.” He said to himself.

He sat down in his chair, putting up his feet, hoping and praying that they could tell T.C. very soon, he needed to know the exact outcome of what was going to happen. He didn’t care about Rebecca finding out; perhaps then she would finally realize what lengths he would go to for Eve.

“Julian?”

He looked up for a minute.

“Yes Gwen?”

She shut the door behind her and sat down.

“Julian, why are you marrying my mother?” Gwen asked bluntly.

“What do you mean?”

“You don’t love her do you? She told me once that if you could be with your true love, then you would dump her, so why then are you not with your true love?” she asked.

“It’s a long story Gwen.”

“Don’t marry her if you don’t love her, it’s not right.”

“Gwen, you do realize your mom is after my money right?”

“I know she is greedy, I do realize that, but can’t you tell her it’s over?” Gwen asked.

“Rebecca knows I love someone else, but she insists on me marrying her.”

“I hope if you do go through with this, you treat her right, anyway, that’s all I wanted to say.”

Julian knew he was going to have to tell Rebecca, but at the same time he couldn’t tell Gwen about the blackmail, he didn’t want her to know about Eve just yet. Just then, his phone rang and his heart skipped a beat when Eve was on the other end.

“Julian, it’s time.” She simply said.

“When my love?”

“Tonight, I was so angry when he called you a loser.”

“He did?”

“Yes after seeing you.” Eve said.

“Oh honey, I am not worried about that.”

“Please Julian, can you come over, T.C. is going to be home.”

“Alright I will be there.”

When he hung up the phone, he couldn’t believe this was it, after all this time; T.C. was going to finally know the truth. He took a deep breath and grabbed his coat from the closet.

“Don’t tell me you are leaving again?” Rebecca asked.

“I have to go, this is very important.”

“What about me?”

“Becky, I can’t talk right now.”

“But I am your fiancée.”

“Listen, I have only one thing to say to you, you better keep your options open.”

“What do you mean by that?”

“Sorry, no time to talk.” He said shutting the front door behind him.

Julian sat there in the car for a minute, the windows frosted up from the cold. He hoped that after starting up the car, he would live to see tomorrow. He then started it up and was on his way. He left the radio off because he enjoyed the few moments of silence he would have before the face off. Before he knew it, he was at Eve’s. He looked at T.C.’s car sitting in the driveway, he couldn’t believe this was happening, but it was way overdue. Eve stood by the window and watched Julian as he shut the car door.
