“Julian!”

“Oh Eve, Ashtyn.” He said pulling them both into his arms.

“Oh my God, I can’t believe I almost lost you and our baby girl, oh, Julian, my life just flashed before my eyes.” She said, tears running down her face.

“I know Eve, I know sweetheart.” He said not wanting to let her go.

“It’s been quite the night, but I am glad you are safe, all of you.” Luis said.

“How can we ever repay you?” Eve asked.

“You don’t have to, it’s my job to protect and serve. I’m just sorry it had to be your own father Julian, but he would have killed you.”

“I know, he was a sick bastard, but now at least he will never bother us or you and Sheridan again.” Julian said with a sigh of relief.

After everything that happened that night, Julian carried Ashtyn to her crib and when he lay her down, he looked at her, still in shock of the dramatic events.

“My sweet angel, I can’t believe I almost lost you, my beautiful little Ashtyn. Daddy loves you so much.” He said, tears coming to his eyes.

He gazed at her, she was so innocent, such a perfect little girl, how could anyone want to hurt her, how could anyone want to hurt any child? He couldn’t believe that his father was that sick to threaten to kill such an innocent baby! How could he even want to kill him, his own son? It amazed Julian that Alistair had no heart, he was a man who cared only about his own needs, never his children’s or he would have never tortured Sheridan so. But he was glad it was all over now. Ashtyn would never know her grandfather, but that was the way it had to be. He kissed her and went to leave the nursery when she began to cry. He didn’t have the heart to walk away from her, she was so precious so he picked her up again and just held her. When she had finally settled down, Julian went to bed, he held Eve like he had never before, knowing that it could have been all over. When he finally drifted off to sleep, he was startled when Eve woke up screaming.

“Honey, what’s the matter?”

“God, I had a nightmare Julian, go check on the baby please.” She said quite distraught.

He nodded and when he saw she was fine, he crawled back into bed next to her. Eve stared at Julian and tears ran down her face, it was such an emotional ordeal that she couldn’t help them as they rolled down her cheeks.

“Oh Eve, it’s going to be okay.” He said hugging her tightly.

“Okay, Julian, okay, I almost lost you tonight, I almost lost Ashtyn, do you know how serious that is?”

“Of course I do, but I am here sweetheart, no one will ever keep us apart.”

“Are you the least upset that Alistair came close to ending your life?”

“Yes of course Eve, you and the baby were going through my mind when he pointed that gun at me, but we are safe now. I know this is very upsetting, I couldn’t bear not having you or Ashtyn in my life, and I love you so much. But I am so thankful I am here.” He said playing with her hair.

She hugged and kissed him so much and she pulled him to her as tightly as she could when she went back to sleep. Life for them was quite rough for the next while, it did take both Julian and Eve quite some time to get over it, but when they finally felt their life was a little more back to normal, Eve sat down with Julian one day in the kitchen over breakfast.

“I think we have realized that each day in our lives is just precious, that life is too short.” She said to Julian.

“Yes love, you are so right.”

“Okay, I have two things I want to discuss with you.”

“Sure.”

“First of all, I want to get married, you know that.”

“Anytime you are ready Eve, and what else would you like to discuss?” Julian asked.

“When we get married, I want to try again.”

“Try what again?” he wondered.

“Julian, once you are my husband, I want to try to have another baby.” She said playing with his fingers.

“Oh Eve, really?” he said excitedly.

“Yes Julian, don’t you think that would be wonderful?”

“Oh darling of course it would be, I love you so much and I think having another baby would be just perfect.”

“Don’t you think Ashtyn would like a little brother or sister?” Eve said smiling.

“Yes, I think it would be a great idea, speaking of brother or sister, sweetheart, we need to find our son.”

“Yes Julian, but now that Alistair is dead, we don’t know where to look.”

“We have no worries about him interfering, we will find him, I promise you, and we really will my love.” Julian said leaning over to kiss her.

“I hope so, that would be three beautiful children together if I get pregnant and our extended families, all I ever wanted was to have a happy life Julian and finally it can happen.”
