“I can’t believe that Liz is your sister, how could you not tell me? I asked you several times if you knew her, why didn’t you just tell me the truth?”
“Just be patient, let me tell you what I need to.” She said.

Julian looked at Eve and put his arm around her, not caring one bit that T.C. was sitting there. He glared at Julian, but stayed still.

“All I can say is that I am about to lose it, so you better start talking or Julian is going to lose that arm that he has around you.” T.C. said.

“I am just trying to think where to start T.C., this is important.”

“Fine.”

“Okay, well I guess I can tell you that I don’t hate Julian anymore.”

“Gee, I would never guessed that.” He said sarcastically.

“We have become friends, actually really good friends.” She said smiling at him.

“With a lunatic like him? Eve, you are my wife and you know how much I hate Julian.”

“I know but there have been times where I needed someone to talk to and you weren’t there for me T.C.”

“Whose fault is that, you are always working, so how can I be blamed for that? Unless that is why Julian has been at the hospital more often. Obviously you can make time for him, but not me, thanks so much Eve.”

“The problem is I have tried several times to sit down and talk to you especially about the family and you only want to hear your opinions T.C., Julian has allowed me to say what I have to.”

“Are you saying that our marriage is one-sided?”

“I am saying that you aren’t very good at compromising about certain situations T.C.”

“When did you two become so called friends?” he asked.

“Well, you could say that I didn’t hate him as much when he saved Whitney, I was grateful and T.C. you were too at the time, he saved our baby.”

“So he does one noble thing and you are buddies for life?” T.C. said dryly.

“No of course not, but Julian isn’t the man you think he is, and well, we have just become closer. And when you and I started having more problems over Whitney and Chad, he was there for me.” Eve said.

“This is such bull, don’t you see he is playing you? He probably wants to get into your pants Eve, I mean this is Julian, womanizer extraordinaire, don’t be so damn naïve, you can’t trust him.”

“Yes she can T.C., I….”

But Julian stopped himself from completing the sentence to let Eve finish.

“T.C. you better just listen to what I have to say, it’s going to take some time.”

“I still don’t understand why Julian has to be here, why can’t you and I just discuss it?”

“I want him here for support.” Eve said.

“Why?”

“Julian has been a great friend like I said, been there for me through such tough times, especially with Liz, I have been struggling with the stress of her constantly reminding me what a bad seed I am. She has threatened so many times to tell you that I am her sister and not to mention the fact that she has wanted you for so long. Don’t you see T.C., Liz has been plotting for ages to take you away from me.” Eve said.

“I don’t believe that.”

“Well believe it because it’s the truth.” Eve said.

“So now I know she’s your sister, but why couldn’t you just tell me?”

“I was scared T.C., I wasn’t sure what would happen, but now that you slept with her, I don’t know what that means really, but I am not the bad person she thinks I am.” Eve said.

“I don’t know what to say right now.” T.C. said.

“Don’t tell me, you are speechless for once?” Julian said wryly.

“Don’t start Crane.” He said annoyed.

“Yes don’t Julian.” She said touching his hand.

“Okay what’s next?”

Eve looked at Julian and sighed.

“I am here for you my love, everything will be okay, and I will look after you.” He said softly.

“Quit stalling, I have things to do.” T.C. said.

Eve looked down at the ground, her heart racing rapidly quite suddenly; she closed her eyes for a moment, just to focus on what she wanted to say.

“Hurry up.” T.C. said rudely.

“Don’t rush her, take your time honey.” He said looking at her.

“T.C., we have been married for many years, we have two beautiful daughters, but you also remember that I told you that we had a son.”

“Yeah the one you lost, I am still sorry for that Eve.” T.C. said his expression softening.

“I know you are.” She said.

“What about him, is there more I need to know about my son?” he asked.

“Yes T.C., well, you do know that I had a life before you.”

“Of course you did, why Eve?”

She could feel her face flush slightly, she looked into Julian’s eyes and he touched her cheek.

“I wish you would stop touching my wife, it is taking me every bit of restraint not to kill you.” T.C. said.

“Please T.C. he is trying to be here for me.”

“You should be over here with me, this should be done with just the two of us.”

“I am staying T.C., I am not leaving her side.” Julian said.

“Anyway, what about our son?”

“I think he might be alive.”

“What did you say, I didn’t quite hear you.”

“He might be alive T.C., I don’t think he died after all.”

“You told me he did.”

“I know that but I think he is alive and well, I just don’t know where he is.”

“Oh Eve, we have to find him.” T.C. said smiling all of a sudden.

“I know, Simone and Whitney would have a brother.”

“Yes, so what else do you have to tell me?”

“T.C., the only unfortunate thing about it is he is not yours

“What, not mine?” he said surprised.

“No, remember I had a life before you.”

“But you said he was mine, I asked you.”

“I know, and I should have told you, but I didn’t. I want to find him, his father and I have been looking.”

“If I am not the father, then who is?”

Eve could feel herself panic at the question, she grabbed Julian’s hands, squeezing them as tightly as she could, but then stood up and walked around the room for a minute. Julian watched her intently; he knew this wasn’t going to be easy for her, he could see the pain in her eyes.

“So are you going to answer the question Eve?”

She stared at Julian, speechless for a minute.

“Do you want me to tell him?” Julian asked.

“No, no, I can do this.” She said trying to keep calm.

She then sat down next to T.C. for a minute, gazing at her husband.

“Oh T.C., it’s time you knew.” She said calmly.

“Knew what?”

“Alright, as much as I regret not telling you this in the past, you do deserve the truth. T.C. my son’s father is Julian.”

“What the hell did you just say?” he said his temper suddenly flaring again.

“Julian’s the father.” She said lowering her head.

“No, no Eve, no this is impossible, there is no way that Julian could be the father.” He said in disbelief.

“It’s true.” Julian said looking at T.C.

“I don’t want to hear from you.”

“Too bad, this happened long before she knew you, so you shouldn’t be angry about her having another child.”

“I am not angry that she has a son, I am angry it’s with you, I hate you so much Crane, this is such a nightmare.” T.C. said.

“I know it’s hard to take T.C., but I can’t change the fact that Julian is the father.”

“You are scum, you got my wife pregnant after having a one night stand with her didn’t you? How selfish of you Julian. How the hell could you do that to her?” he said angrily.

“T.C., it was more than a one night stand, Eve and I were in a relationship and she got pregnant.”

“A relationship, you and Eve, oh come on, Eve tell me he is lying, please tell me.”

“It was before I knew you, I was singing and…”

“Singing, what the hell do you mean singing? You told me your dream was to be a doctor, that you always wanted to be one.”

“Yes T.C., I love being a doctor but I was a singer and one night in Boston I was at the Blue Note and Julian happened to be there.”

“He seduced you, the bastard, he forced you into a relationship, there is no way that you wanted to be with him, he is not even your type.” T.C. said.

“Look, I was smitten with her from the start, when I saw her, she was beautiful, with the voice of an angel and I fell for her.”

“I don’t understand, if you two were together and you were pregnant with his child, then why are not together now, Julian married Ivy.”

“Because it was my fault, I abandoned her.”

“You left her when she was pregnant? I always knew you were an golly Julian.”

“Yeah I’ll admit I was T.C., I will totally give you that one, but it was my father who wanted me to leave her, I never wanted to, I mean I made the mistake of showing her the fast life, the party scene with drinking and drugs, but in the end, it cost me the woman I love. My father did not want me to be with Eve.”

“I always said you Cranes were bad news.”

“I regret to this day leaving Eve, it was the worst thing I could have ever done and I hate myself for it, but I have apologized immensely for it.”

“And you believe him Eve?”

“Julian is sorry T.C. he is not being insincere, he truly is and has made many sacrifices for me.”

“What kind of sacrifices?”

“Well for one thing, I was willing to help her keep her marriage to you and put aside my own feelings for her. I just wanted to make up for the pain I caused her and let her live the life she had to this day.”

“So you were lovers in the past, but only friends now? That’s impossible Julian, you can’t be friends with someone you still love.”

“I didn’t care, I only wanted Eve to be happy, that was the least I could do for her to make up for all that I did to her.”

“I am surprised that you would do that Julian, I am very surprised.”

“I loved her so much that her happiness outweighed my own.”

“You are so damn lucky that you are only friends.” He said almost relieved.

Eve looked at T.C., and then at Julian and tears began to run down her cheeks.

“Eve, what’s the matter?” T.C. asked.

“She’s just feeling a bit emotional right now T.C.”

“Well I guess I can’t blame you Eve, this is a lot to have to share, but you know what? I think we need some time now to talk in private Julian, I think if we are going to work on these problems and solve them, you better go. If we are going to keep this marriage intact, we need to work some things out.” T.C. said.

“T.C., there is more.” Eve said sadly.

“You can tell me in person, he doesn’t have to hear this.”

“No, I want Julian here, it’s crucial.”

“If you say so then, go ahead Eve.”

Eve got up and stood by the window, staring off into space for a minute before turning around to look at T.C.

“I told you we were friends.” Eve said.

“Yes I know that.”

“T.C., Julian and I are very close now, he has been a wonderful man to have by my side, someone I could really talk to, and I mean he saved my life T.C. Do you realize that, if it weren’t for Julian, I would be dead right now?”

“I know that and I am grateful to him for that.” T.C. said.

“We have become so close and, uh…”

She then paused, not sure what else to say.

“Eve, where are you going with this?”

Tears ran down her cheeks once more and Julian couldn’t stand to see her like that so he got up and pulled her in his arms. She cried on his shoulder as T.C. just sat there.
