She stood quietly staring at the coffin being lowered into the ground.
Her daughter stood in front of her with the same look on her face.

She was a daddy's girl, but what happens to her now, now that he's gone.

His mother stood behind her tears forming in her eyes as his brother held onto her tightly.

"Pilar this isn't fair why did this have to happen to Miguel".

"I don’t know Kay but God I wish that I did understand why did God take my son what did he ever do wrong".

"I just wish I could of said goodbye.....oh my god did he know how much I loved him....and how much Maria loved him.....I shouldn't of fought with him we had a stupid fight and he left....he never even saw that truck coming".

Kay began to cry and fell to the ground.

Luis and Antonio quickly grabbed each of her arms and pulled her up.

"Kay mija this was not your fault". Pilar cried.

"Yes it is Pilar I killed my husband and your son and Antonio and Luis's brother and oh my god I killed Maria's father".

"Mommy please don’t blame yourself...it's not your fault.....God wanted Daddy to come be with him now but mommy he's watching us you know that".

Kay began to smile a little and kissed Maria on the forehead.

"Mommy why don’t we go home".

"No Maria why don't you go home with Abuela and your uncles I will come home later".

"Kay are you sure you shouldn't be alone right now", Pilar asked.

"Nope its okay I need to be here alone with Miguel for a little while".

Kay smiled at Pilar and watched as Maria and Pilar walked to the cars, she waited until the car was gone till she began to talk.

"Miguel I don’t know if you can hear me but I hope you can.....I just want you to know how sorry I am I should of never of asked you to leave....it was the first time we ever fought since we have been married".

~Flashback~
 

"Miguel do you still love Charity.....if you do just tell me".

"Kay I can't believe you would even ask me that.....you know that I don’t love Charity anymore and that you and Maria are the only women I love".

"But Miguel I saw you at the Lobster Shack with her",

"Kay I was just talking to her".

"Miguel please get out of here now......I can't even look at you....you're lieing to me".

"You know Miguel after the accident when we were at the hospital waiting to find out if you were going to be okay you're mother told me that you were there with Charity planning my birthday party.........you know now I don’t even want to celebrate my birthday not without you I have never had a birthday where you weren't there for it".

~Flashback~

A nine year old Kay stood in the living room of the Bennett house when she heard the door bell ring.

She quickly ran to the door to find her best friend Miguel Lopez Fitzgerald standing there with a gift in hand.

"Miguel what is it".

"You have to open it and find out".

Inside the box was a picture of Miguel and Kay in the Lopez Fitzgerald back yard it was taken the day that they won their first little league tournament. The frame said best friends forever on it and Kay knew that her and miguel would be best friends forever.

~End Flashback~

"It should have been me Miguel I should of died not you what will I do without you.......what will Maria do without you.....Miguel she worshiped the ground you walked on just like me.........she was your little girl you meant the world to her and you meant the world to me what will I ever do without you Miguel".

Kay sat on the wet ground and stared at the coffin that was laying in the ground.

"You know Miguel I will never forget all of the memories we share like our wedding day and the day that Maria was born and every day I ever spent with you".

"Miguel I wish I could of told you this sooner but im pregnant Miguel....and I am going to do my best to make sure this baby knows you and how wonderful you were and how much you would have loved him".

Kay cried for hours just sitting there starring at the grave. Memories that her and Miguel shared began to flow through her mind.

"Hey bada bada bada", a young Kay Bennett yelled smacking the ball into her glove.

"Kay what are you doing" Miguel laughed.

"Im trying to act like the catcher Miguel you know that".

"Kay you're hopeless Miguel laughed".

"Of course Kay you're my best friend besides who would else would you dance the last dance with", Miguel smiled and walked down the hall.

"It's a girl".

"Oh my god Miguel did you hear that it's a little girl".

Miguel smiled and looked down at his best friend who had just given birth to the most precious tiny baby he had ever seen.

It's my life is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain but I'd of had to miss the dance

Miguel stood down at the end of the aisle as the flower girl two year old Maria and the ring bearer his nephew Ethan walked down.

Maria smiled and went and stood by Theresa who was the maid of honor.

The music played and Kay walked down the aisle Miguel was speechless.

"You see Miguel we were so happy together you completed me Miguel....where do I go from here this wasn't suppose to happen not yet....I was suppose to go first an old woman warm in my bed as you laid next to me but not like this Miguel".

Kay cried and looked up at the sky as it began to rain she didn't care she couldn’t move she had to stay with him.

"Oh my god Miguel this baby will never get to know you or how wonderful you were.....and Maria, you will never be there to watch Maria graduate or walk her down the aisle....oh my god who will walk her down the aisle when she gets married......I can't do this now I I have to go Miguel I love you with all of my heart and I always will", Kay blew him a kiss and quickly walked to her car.

~9 Months Later~

Kay, Pilar, and Maria slowly walked down through the cemetery to the tombstone that read

"Loving Father, Husband
     Son and Brother".

"Miguel there is someone that we want you to meet", Kay smiled.

"This is Miguel Lopez Fitzgerald Jr".

Pilar smiled and rubbed the babies head.

"Yeah Daddy he even smells like you", Maria laughed.

Kay and Pilar just stood there as Maria placed fresh flowers on the grave with a picture of her and Little Miguel.

"Here Daddy now we will always be with you", Maria began to cry.

"Maria don’t worry your daddy will always be with you", Pilar smiled.

They slowly walked away each of them remembering special times with Miguel....

~15 Years Later~

Kay Bennett Lopez Fitzgerald stood at the end of the aisle as Maria Ivy walked down the aisle accompanied by her Uncle Luis. As she reached the top Kay walked over to her slowly.

"Maria you will never know how much your father would of wanted to be here", Kay cried.

"Don’t worry mom Daddy's here", Maria smiled. and kissed her mom on the cheek.
