Schemes Of Deception - Chapter 9

Rebecca stormed into Julian's office to find him
getting drunk from champagne and listening to what
she thought was Liz's tape.
"I don't believe you! We get into that accident earlier tonight
and here you are in here listening
to Liz's tape! Again!" Rebecca yelled.

"What?" Julian asked, having forgot about the scheme
for a few moments. Then he remembered, he was leading
Rebecca on to think that Liz was the other woman so
she would rip Liz to shreds and get her away from Eve.
Julian felt a twinge of guilt, but then he remembered
this was the woman who was blackmailing him for trying
to kill his sister.

"How can you possibly be in here listening to Liz's tape!?
What the hell is wrong with you!?" Rebecca yelled, flashing
back to picturing Liz's face on the
punching bag at the youth center. Rebecca grabbed the
champagne glass out of Julian's hand. Julian realized
that things might get out of control so he lunged
forward, pinning her down on the desk the best he
could with one arm and wrestling the champagne glass
away from her, knocking the rest of the contents onto
the floor.

"What the hell is wrong with you!?" Rebecca exclaimed.

"Gee, I don't know, you tell me!" Julian said. He was
the one being asked this when he wasn't trying to
throw anything at her? Julian and Rebecca got up
from the desk.

"Well, how about we got into that accident and all
you can do is sit in here and listen to Liz?" Rebecca
exclaimed. Julian cringed at the thought of Eve's
fantastic singing voice being mistaken for that
frizz-forsaken nightmare with a cheshire cat grin
known as Liz, but then remembered that he was
leading Rebecca on to trick her into getting Liz to
leave Eve alone for him. Julian decided he'd better
do something to keep the jig from being up.

"I'm sorry, my pet, its just that I've been in the
habit of listening to that tape for so long its not
just something I can quit doing over night." Julian
said.

"Well, you better prove your little theory wrong, or
little Julian isn't going to be a happy camper."
Rebecca said. "Got it?"

"Yes dear," Julian lied.

"What was that?" Rebecca said.

"You win," Julian lied. No way was he giving up his
tape even if Rebecca did think it was Liz.

"I'm glad we understand each other, pookey," Rebecca
said, dragging Julian into a kiss before she left.
Julian slumped down into his chair and buried his
face into his hands.

"What have I gotten myself into?" Julian asked miserably.
He knew this whole mess was his idea but
he didn't think it would be this hard to keep up.
Turning Rebecca and Liz into enemies was the easy
part, but keeping the jig from being up was something
entirely different. If Rebecca was going to get set
off like that just hearing the tape, who knew how
out of control things could get? He didn't want to
keep lying to Rebecca, but he figured why not if she
kept believing it. He was still wondering what was
up with Rebecca and the 'nice' act lately, that was
the only time he had seen her act like her old
manipulative self in the past few days.

The next morning, Whitney was waiting by Fox's
bedside. CHad had gotten called into work so she
had went to check on Fox.

"Hey, Fox, its Whitney," Whitney said. Whitney
noticed Fox was muttering something while he was
unconscious.

"The woman....I...love..." Fox said. Whitney felt sorry
for Fox that the woman he loved couldn't be
there for him, unaware it was her. She thought maybe
if she did something to try to help him come out
of his coma, it might get through to him.

"Fox, its me, the woman you love." Whitney said.
Whitney grabbed Fox's hand, not knowing what she
was getting herself into.

The next morning, Julian ran into Liz, who had just
ran into Rebecca and was venting about her. Julian
decided this might be a good time to drop the bomb
on her.

"I have something that will make sure you leave Eve
alone and stay away from TC and their daughters,"
Julian said.

"Yeah, right, what color is the sky in your world?"
Liz asked sarcastically.

"Well, Rebecca thinks that you're the woman from my
past." Julian said. Liz was stunned.

"Is it my fault Rebecca is nuttier than a looney tune?" Liz asked.

"I don't know how she came to that conclusion, but
you are going to go along with this." Julian said.

"Or what?" Liz asked.

"I'll tell Rebecca everything and you'll have her to
deal with." Julian said. Liz looked at him in
shock.

"You're blackmailing me?" Liz asked.

"Hey, Rebecca is the one believing it," Julian said.

"What does that have to do anything?" Liz asked.

"If you do anything to the Russell family, I will tell
Rebecca every detail about our so called past together." Julian said.

"Exactly, so called." Liz said. "As in we never had
a past together."

"That's not what she thinks!" Julian smirked deviously.

"You're seriously going to go through with this!" Liz
said in shock, still stunned.

"You better believe it." Julian said. Julian was
satisfied as Liz looked at him helplessly.

At the youth center that afternoon, Rebecca and Liz
glared at each other across the room. T.C. tried to
keep himself preoccupied to stay out of it. Soon,
Liz and Rebecca were arguing over who's turn it was
to organize games when the kids got there.

"Please the only way you know how to play duck duck
goose is with Julian!" Liz said.

"Yeah, you'd know a lot about that too wouldn't you?"
Rebecca exclaimed.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Liz yelled. Liz
remembered her earlier confrontation with Julian and
decided she'd better shut up. "Lets see- it's played like this.
Duck, duck-" Liz started to pull Rebecca's
hair. "Goose!" Liz yelled. Rebecca started to pull on
Liz's hair. T.C. jumped in and broke up another fight.

"You two are not going to act like this in front of
the c-h-i-l-d-r-e-n!" T.C. said.

"Liz is the one who started it!" Rebecca said.

"Me!?" Liz exclaimed.

"If you two are going to work with the kids then maybe I
should teach you two how the whole volunteering at the
youth center thing works! You cause trouble, you get a
time out!" T.C. said.

"Time out?" Rebecca and Liz asked in annoyance. A
few minutes later, Eve walked in to drop T.C.'s lunch
off since she had time on her break and looked at
Rebecca and Liz in shock.

"T.C. what's going on around here?" Eve asked.

"Time out," T.C. said, sighing. "Usually we don't
even have to give the kids time out but if it keeps
these two from pulling each other's hair out." T.C
thought it was pretty sad that the kids didn't even
have to be given a time out and here he was having to
come up with any excuse he could to keep Liz and
Rebecca from getting into it.
