It’s hard to get into fake sympathy, when all the happenings in the real world are so fresh. So, I know I didn’t remotely enjoy Passions today as I might have a month ago.

Subject: "I’m going to be good." – Oh Kay

Kay had a day today.

As Reese was trying to team up with Norma to prove that Tabitha was a witch, Simone was wondering why Kay was staying silent, as they accused Tabitha of being the one who ‘invited evil’ to Harmony. Simone reminds Kay that it was SHE who invited evil to Harmony when she sold her soul to Hecuba (did anyone else get the heebie jeebies being reminded of that CLUNKER of a story?).

Kay felt for ‘poor Tabitha’, and reminded Reese of all the ‘innocent’ people who were killed in the Salem Witch Trials, and that they can’t do the same to Tabitha.

When everyone got back to the Hospital, they found out about Ivy being injured, and that it easily could have been Sam. Simone goes over to Kay, thinking that Kay was regretting that Charity didn’t die on the trip. Kay informs her that she’s decided to be good. Simone was like ‘ yeah, right’, and Kay went onto explain how horrible she felt about the possibility that her father could have died because of her actions on the island. And, that she’s not willing to risk her family for any boy, including Miguel.

Simone says that she wants to be convinced, and Kay tells her that she is going to only emit ‘positive vibes’ from now on. In order to protect her family.

Yeah…Um…..Ok.

Hell didn’t do it.

But, a bolt of lightening could?

Sure…whatever.

I give Kay 2.2 seconds if that long.

Like I said, SHOW ME THE STORY before I’ll believe that there is ANY progress with the teens.

Subject: I know Passions is whacked, but, NORMA?!?!

I know that Passions has its own beat. But, certain things are absolutely ridiculous.

This Norma mess, which had RUN ITS COURSE the first time around, is TRULY PATHETIC.

Excuse me. WHY is Norma standing around with the rest of them.

SHE CAME AFTER THEM WITH AN AXE!

There isn’t much room for interpretation when someone comes after you with an axe. She should have been tied up. Something. Anything.

But, not only did TC and Hank NOT tie her up on the Island, but, she’s allowed to WALK AROUND the Hospital?

We know that she totally tried to kill Tabitha. There were plenty of witnesses. She should be in handcuffs, on her way to the looney bin.

Instead, they waste Sam’s time as Chief of Police, warning Tabitha that if he finds out that she hurt his family, he’ll lock her up. Sam, hard to take you seriously when a nut case, with full access to all sorts of weapons is running around free.

Seeing Norma waste tv space is another reason why this show is going down the tubes.

Subject: David certainly isn’t going to give up

David is confronting Eve and Pilar about why he’s going to stay. He tries to make a convincing case for himself, telling them that Grace deserves a man who loves HER and ONLY her with his whole heart. He says that he KNOWS he is that man, and asks them if they can look him in the face and tell him, with absolute certainty, that Sam still doesn’t have feelings for Grace.

Eve and Pilar can’t say squat. Their silence is everything to David, who tells them that he KNOWS that Sam is going to break Grace’s heart, and when he does, HE will be there waiting for Grace.

Grace, in the meantime, is being tortured with hearing Sam profess his love to Ivy. It’s like daggers through the heart, and Sam does see Grace, and tries to explain it, though Grace is doubting him. She wonders if this was only an excuse for him to admit his real feelings. Sam doesn’t get to go into it with Grace, because they hear the kids calling for them, and they are happy to be reunited with the girls.

But, this story is a mess. A real soap opera mess, which is why I like it.
I do think Sam and Grace belong together. But, Sam DOES have feelings for Ivy. David is SAYING all the right things to and about Grace, but, something makes me be hesitant about him.

There are so many ‘ifs’ in this story.

Subject:  Rebecca – the skank w/ no shame…..and this funeral

This entire Bermuda thing is just rancid by now. When the high point is Rebecca, you know things are bad.

But, she’s in SUCH bad taste, that you have to laugh at her through her disgust. And there is plenty of disgust to go around.

Rebecca is threatening the Justice of the Peace, wondering what it is that Julian is hiding. She is about to get it out of him when Bruce, sent there by Julian, tells her that Julian is holding a service for Sheridan.

Julian has just been whining to Alistair about Rebecca’s threats, and Alistair tells him to suck it up, marry Rebecca, and make sure the funeral goes off.

There was the bodybag, once again in the Lobby – ick.

The guys with the bodybag tells Luis and the others that a service has been arranged by Sheridan’s family. Luis doesn’t like it, and says that he’s never seen a brother less concerned about his sister. He looks to Ethan to agree with him that this service is the wrong thing, but Ethan agrees with Julian, and convinces Luis to go on with the funeral.

It was just a mockery. Rebecca, in the white wedding gown, but the black veil, and just the entire thing. The only ones whose grief seemed totally authentic were Luis and Gwen, who mourned quietly, alone, in the back, but, only after offering Luis words of comfort, and placing a picture of Sheridan on the coffin.

I’m sure this wouldn’t have bothered me as much a month ago, but, today, it irritated me. The trivialization of death, combined with a moronic story that ruined one of Passions best characters: Julian. Add that together, and there’s nothing positive in this story at all.
