“My love, what is it?” he said, sitting down next to her on the bed.
“Nothing Julian, nothing at all.”

“You can talk to me, you know that, I’m here tonight for you, I’m here anytime you need me.” He said, handing her a tissue.

“I was just thinking about him.”

“I’m sorry Eve.”

Julian put his arms around her and hugged her to him, Eve’s tears continuing to flow.

“I shouldn’t be so damn emotional about this.”

“You can’t help how you feel, Randy is an idiot, who doesn’t think with his brain.” Julian said dryly.

“But Julian, I was angry with him and now I’m just plain hurt, how could that bastard cheat on me? You tried to warn me, but I wouldn’t listen and now I’m all alone.”

“You’ll never be alone Eve, not as long as you let me be a part of your life.” He said, leaning over to kiss her softly on the cheek.

“Julian, I want to, I really do, it’s just that I’m going to have quite the fight on my hands over this soon to be divorce.”

“Listen, I’m not asking you to leave Randy for me this very instant, I just want you to know that I’ll be patient and wait for as long as you need. If there’s a slight chance that I can be the man in your life, I’ll do whatever it takes.”

“Julian.” She said, touching the slight stubble upon his face.

“I’m not going anywhere, in fact, I can pack a few things if you like and stay here for a while.”

“What about my girls? It’s not going to look too good if you’ve practically moved in with me.”

“But Eve, you need me right?”

“Yes, I guess I do.”

“Well then, let me stay here with you, I’ll do whatever you wish, I’ll be the friend I should have always been, I’ll even be the… well never mind that right now. I’ll make you breakfast in bed, lunch and dinner, anything to bring a smile to that beautiful face.”

“You’re going to cook for me?” Eve asked.

“Well, cooking is not exactly my thing, we’ll order in, the point is, I’ll wait on you hand and foot.”

“Oh Julian, you don’t have to do that.”

“I would love to, I could learn a thing or two from the hired help, in fact, it would serve me well to do something for someone else for a change. I’m such a selfish person to begin with, I plan on changing that, especially when it concerns you.”

“And what about Rebecca?”

“What about her darling?”

“She’s not going to like you staying over here now is she?”

“I don’t care what she thinks Eve, I mean really.”

“She’ll miss you Julian.”

“Me, no you mean she’ll miss what’s below my waist.”

“Oh my God.” Eve said, smiling slightly.

“Well, the woman can’t live without sex for too long, but don’t worry, she can rent some videos.”

“Julian Crane!”

“I’m honest to a fault Eve.” He said smiling.

“You are, I can’t believe some of the things you say.”

“Well, better to tell the truth than to lie, I’ve learned that deceit really gets you nowhere my love.”

“That’s true, well I’ll think about you staying here for a while then.”

“Well good night my dear.” He said, standing up.

“Good night?”

“Yes, I’ll be in the spare room if you need me.”

“No!”

“What’s the matter?”

“Stay with me please Julian, I can’t sleep.”

“My poor darling, okay I can do that.”

“Thank you.” She said, moving back the covers.

When Julian sat next to her, he admired how she looked, wearing one of her sexy teddies. But in Julian’s eyes, Eve could wear a paper bag and she’d be exquisite.

“It’s quite late, and I really should try to sleep, but I just can’t, not now, maybe not at all.”

“Well, I’d be happy to offer you my services.”

“Julian!”

“I mean, as in a massage?”

“Oh.” She said sighing.

“You thought I wanted to have sex?”

“No.” Eve said turning away.

“Sweetheart, you’re far too emotional for me to make the Crane moves on you. Besides, what kind of a man would I be if I was more concerned about getting it, rather than just wanting to hold you.”

“Well that’s good to know, but you’re Julian Crane, being in bed with a woman, it’s all about having sex right?”

“Not always Eve, especially when I’m with you. Anytime we have together, I will cherish that. You’re far too special to just want to get in the sack like that.”

“But you would want to do that.”

“Eve, of course I would, you’re very much a turn on, but again, I’m not going to upset you, you’re vulnerable and I can’t take advantage of that.”

She smiled and laid her head against him, having Julian there to comfort her did mean a lot to Eve even if she had sent him off before to the spare room. Sometimes it was hard to trust herself around him, and temptations were there. Being in bed with Julian, well, the times they had been, always lead to hot steamy nights. But this time, she believed him that he would behave himself and he did, falling asleep in each other’s arms.

“You’re unbelievable!”

“Randy!” Eve said, startled from a deep sleep.

“What the hell are you doing here?” Julian asked.

“Never mind me, what the hell are you doing in my bed? My wife kicks my ass out and you’re already doing it with her?”

“What are you doing back in the house Randy?” Eve asked.

“It’s still my house.”

“We should have changed the damn locks.” Julian said coldly.

“What’s with this we crap, get the hell out of my bed and away from my wife.”

“Your wife, I don’t think so, she won’t be that for long since you can’t keep that zipper up of yours!” Julian yelled.

“Janesta is out of my life and you’re going to be seeing stars in two seconds if you don’t get the hell out of my bed!” He screamed.

“Randy, stop it please.” Eve said nervously.

“No I won’t, you’re my wife and I want you to come back to me, I love you Eve, Julian Crane is not worth this.”

“First of all, we’re not sleeping together.”

“Don’t give me that golly Eve, I know Julian, he wants you in his bed and it looks like he just succeeded. My God, if I had come in earlier, what would I have seen.”

“Nothing.” Eve said.

“Bull golly , now I’ll give you one chance to get Julian out of your life.”

“It will never happen, she’s in my heart and I’d do anything for her so piss off!” Julian said coldly.

“Randy, I told you not to come back here and I meant it. The girls are upset enough without you causing trouble, I won’t go back to anyone who’s a cheater.” Eve said firmly.

“And what’s this, you’re cheating with Julian.”

“She’s upset, emotional and vulnerable, because of you, you screwed up, be a man and admit it and stop blaming me.”

“This is such bull.”

“No, what’s bull is you standing here, trying to make amends for sleeping with your nurse. Eve is better than that, she deserves better than that and I’m the one who’s going to be here for her, so it’s time you leave.” He said, getting out of the bed and pushing him towards the door.

“Don’t touch me.”

“Fine, then get out!” Julian said.

“I will not, there’s no way Eve is going to shack up with a loser like you.” Randy said.

“I love her and as soon as I get rid of the unwanted trash, then I’ll show her just how much.”

Eve watched in silence as Julian got Randy downstairs and to the door.

“You haven’t heard the last of me.”

“Apparently not, but don’t come back until your ready to sign the divorce papers.” Julian said firmly.

Julian slammed the front door and bolted it tightly. When he returned to see Eve still in the bed, he looked at her.

“How the hell did he get in?”

“He probably had more than one key, I have no idea Julian.”

“Well he’s gone now darling, I’m sorry I had to get a bit aggressive with him. I know how you despise violence.”

“Yes I do, but you did the right thing, he had some nerve coming into the house again after I specifically asked him not to come back.”

“I guess he wanted to see if you thought it through enough. I’m proud of you honey, you stayed strong with him.” He said, hugging her.

“Julian, I hate cheaters.”

“I would never cheat on you.”

Eve looked at him curiously.

“I know I’ve been unfaithful to others, but Eve, I love you so much. This time, I’d do it right; I’d be monogamous, even if that’s hard to believe. You’re my angel and I love you.”
