ACT ONE - CHAPTER TWO

Later that day, Julian met up with Daniel and other people inside of the company to get a better feel how things were ran and to inspect the atmosphere of the building as well. ‘Who knew running a division would be this complicated?’ Julian sighed then rubbed his temples. He was tired and he was hungry. He hadn’t eaten at all since he arrived here, and now it felt like his stomach was touching his spine!

“Uh Mr. Crane, are you alright?!” a young man asked.

“Do I look alright to you?!” Julian snapped back.

“N-No… sir.” The man stuttered then backed away.

Daniel who saw the whole exchange decided to speak his mind.

“Was that really necessary to snap at him like that?”

“Look, I’m sorry. It’s just… I went to my new apartment straight from the airport, changed to come here and I haven’t eaten. I’m literally running on empty right now.” Julian said as he ran a hand down his face. He then looked over to the left and watched as Ivy came in.

“Danny, I have some more files for you to look over.” Ivy said as she walked over towards him and Julian.

“Hey Ivy… how’s about you join the nearly famished Julian for lunch?” Julian smirked.

“Huh?” Ivy said, a look of absolute shock written across her face.

TC swung his tennis racket forward with so much force that there was no way his opponent could return his serve back to him. He smirked. Let's face it, no one was good enough to beat him, he was the best and no one was better then the best. TC watched as his opponent went diving for the ball, but it was too late.

"Match!" The umpire shouted.

The crowd of about 300 hundred started cheering and whistling as TC walked towards the net to shake his opponents hand, then he turned and started waving his hands toward the crowd. After he received his trophy and collects his belongings, he walked off the court and went straight to the locker room. Twenty minutes later, he was showered properly and fully clothed as he headed over to the coffee house.

As soon as TC walked through the doors of the coffee house, a few people ran up to him and asked for his autograph and a few pictures. He smiled and casually gave each and every person his autograph and posed for a few pictures. Afterwards, he headed over to the counter, ordered his food, then headed over to the table in front of the television that was close by. His food arrived shortly and as he ate, he listened to the television and a few people around him. It was when he was picking up his fork to place some more food in his mouth, that he heard the voice of the woman, who was being interviewed by some reporters on TV. TC dropped his fork and turned towards the TV to make sure he wasn't hearing things.

The reporter was asking the woman, Dr. Eve Johnson how it felt to become Harmony’s youngest ever chief of staff.

“So how does it feel being Harmony’s newest and youngest chief of staff of Harmony General at age 25?”

Eve smiled a bit before speaking. “This decision to make me chief of staff caught me completely off guard. I mean, I just transferred here from Boston a few months ago, and I didn’t expect something of this magnitude to ever happen to me so fast. I’m honored.” Eve answered honestly.

“Well that’s all the time we have for today. So on the behalf of the newest and youngest chief of staff Dr. Eve Johnson, I’m Shelley Lang signing off.” The reporter said then shook Eve’s hand and smiled at her. So Eve smiled back.

TC watched as the two women smiled at the camera, but his eyes were really on the new chief of staff.

“Eve…” TC whispered.

After Julian asked Ivy to join him for lunch, he told her that he was going to go home and change, then come pick her up. It took him roughly, twenty-five minutes to get home, find something to wear and hop on his motorcycle to go pick her up. His motorcycle… this was his most treasured possession. This was the first thing he ever bought after he received his first check from Thompson Corp. He smiled at it. He had it shipped here to Harmony from Los Angeles, the day he found out about his promotion.

Now the two of them were speeding in and out of traffic as Ivy held on to Julian for dear life! At one point, he was so close to this big tanker truck that Ivy swore she saw her life flash before her eyes.

“Slow down or you’ll kill us both you crazy bastard!” She shouted over the roar of the engine.

Julian glanced back little and shouted back “Did you say faster?! Excellent!” he held up his thumb and smiled.

Ivy looked at him like he was crazy, then started laughing uncontrollably as he went faster than before.

“You’re wild you know that?!” She shouted again.

He smirked.

“You know, people say they once saw this huge falcon or eagle fly over…” She started to say, but Julian cut her off.

“The wharf and its wings shielded the whole area from the sun…”

Ivy looked at him with this funny look on her face.

“How did you know that?”

“You’re riding with the original roughneck of Harmony High.”

“No kidding, you should’ve told me.” She pushed him in the arm and laughed.

They arrived at this little fast food joint outside of Harmony and ordered their food from the outside. As Julian finished the rest of his sandwich, he faked a yawn and placed his hand on Ivy’s right hip. Ivy was drinking her soda when she felt Julian placed his hand on her hip. She then raised one of her brows and looked at him suspiciously.

“Why don’t we forget about everything else today, and go learn about some nature?” He said seductively then smirked.

“Sure, let’s go to the wharf.” She batted her eyelashes.

Julian frowned. “That’s not a good place to go.”

“It is if you wanna learn about nature.” She smirked.

Eve arrived at the wharf shortly after her interview on television ended. She needed to get away from things at work and the dealings of the media. She never really understood what made her decide come back to Harmony; she was doing just fine in Boston. She walked over towards the railings by the pier and slowly lifted her hand up to touch the bird that sitting on it. The bird must’ve seen her sudden movements because before she knew it, it was gone. Eve pulled her hand back and watched the bird disappear from site when she turned and came across someone staring at her.

“TC? TC Russell?” She said.

TC just stood there, and kept staring at her… he never said a word.

“How? How did you know that I was here?” Eve asked him.

TC looked her once more, before blinking his eyes and finally speaking.

“It was a feeling that I had. So I followed it and I was right.”

Silence-

“It’s been ten years?”

TC nodded.

Silence-

“So what are you doing nowadays?” Eve said breaking the silence.

“I’m the number one ranked tennis player in the world.”

“So you’re living your childhood dream.” She said

“What about you? Are you still singing?” TC asked.

“I gave up singing along time ago. I’m the new chief of staff here at Harmony General. So yes, I have risen in the world as well. I’m happy with what I’m doing.” She said and was about to turn around and look out at the water when TC pulled her close to his body. She instantly tensed up.

“That’s enough. Forget about him. Forget about what happened that day Eve. I will help you forget.” TC said as he held Eve close to his body. Eve’s eyes were watering and she was just about to relax in his arms when a light flashed in her face.

“You see, I told you it was crowded.” A voice in the background said. The moment Eve heard that voice, she knew who it was. When she saw his face, she gasped. TC saw who it was too, then got angry. Hearing someone gasp, Julian looked and he gasped too.

“That’s TC Russell.” Ivy said.

Eve pulled herself away from TC’s arms and turned towards the water and looked out. She had to catch her breath. She didn’t think that she would ever run into him again either. After collecting her composure, she turned back towards the man she saw.

“Well it’s been along time Julian.” Eve said.

“Who is she?” Ivy asked curiously.

“Well how about introducing us.” Eve said as she placed her hand on her left hip and looked him in the eyes.

Julian placed his hand on Ivy’s hip once more. “Well honey, this here is the idol of our school choir, Ms. Eve. I didn’t know belonged to TC now.” Julian smirked then watched as Eve’s face scrunched up in a frown.

TC was livid when he heard what Julian said. He slowly started walking towards him. Julian just rolled his eyes and waited for TC to come. Ivy who was still on the motorcycle with him, told him to be careful then she hopped off and went and stood next to Eve.

As soon as TC was in front of Julian, he pulled Julian up by the collar of his t-shirt and brought him close to his face.

“And you say I have a problem controlling my temper.” Julian said sarcastically then looked TC dead in the eyes.

TC then got angry and pushed Julian into his motorcycle, knocking it over.

“You sh*t!” Julian shouted and balled up his fist. He then smirked “C’mon and show me what you got?!”

TC balled his fist up too and was about to charge him when Eve ran and jumped into front of him.

“No please don’t!” she pleaded as she stared into Julian’s eyes.

Julian looked at her and saw the way she was looking at him, so he un-balled his fist and kept his eyes on her.

TC placed his hands on Eve’s shoulders and when he did, she gasped then dropped her head down to hide the pain that was showing in her eyes this very moment. TC then looked at Julian with this hateful gleam in his eyes.

“How could you come back to Harmony? I won’t let you keep destroying things, Eve or the Davidson Division.” He said in a serious tone.

“Let it go.” Eve whispered, her hair still hiding the pain in her eyes. “Just stop it! It’s alright if you forgotten about me Julian, I’m not the same person that you left behind here in Harmony so long ago.” She said as she looked at him then placed her hand over TC’s and moved it off of her shoulder. “Everything is different for me now!” She shouted then walked off, drying her eyes in the process.

TC was taken back when Eve just walked away him like that. His hands were still hanging in the air along after she left. He then pulled them down and walked over towards Julian once more.

“I won’t let you have her.” TC stated.

“You know what I came here to do.” Julian replied.

“Eve and the Davidson Division don’t need a bastard like you. You should’ve just stayed away!” TC spat, then walked and left Julian to ponder about things.
