ACT TWO – CHAPTER SIX

The next day, Julian was sitting behind his desk trying to get some work done but he couldn’t. Last night, that phone call had really scared him and he was really grateful that Eve hadn’t been in her office when the fire broke out. He looked down at his watch and realized that it was almost his lunch break. He quickly finished up with his paper work, then got up from behind his desk and walked out of his office. He then headed out of the building, hopped onto his motorcycle and headed over to the coffee house. Ten minutes later, he pulled up into the parking lot of the coffee house, jumped off his bike and walked inside. As he was waiting in line to be served, Ivy walked right up to him.

“Where were you last night?” She asked.

“Nowhere.”

“Julian don’t lie to me, I called you to make sure that you were alright last night, since you were drinking and moping around, but you didn’t answer, so I called you again and still no answer.” She raised her voice.

“So what?” he scoffed.

“I was worried about you, so I came back and your bike was gone.”

“What are you, my stalker now?!” he spat at her then looked over her shoulder.

“Damn it Julian, I care about you alright.” Ivy shouted at him, but his eyes were on someone else.

“I gotta go. I’ll talk to you later Ivy.” He said and walked right out of the line and over to the person he had his site on.

“Julian, don’t you walk away from me! Damn it!” Ivy shouted at him again, but he just ignored her.

Once Julian was in front of the table, he leaned over it and placed his elbows on the table.

“I see your well trained brain doesn’t help you avoid injuries huh?” Julian said.

“These are nothing… just a few burns.” TC said as he sipped some of his coffee.

“Burns?” A puzzled looked appeared on Julian’s face. “That fire…”

“I promised to protect her remember?” TC said then looked up at Julian.

“Eve…” Julian whispered.

“Besides, I won’t let you put your greasy fingers on her.”

“Ohh, so that gives you permission to put your ten fingers on her? Twenty fingers if you count the ones on your feet, well I won’t including the twenty-first!” Julian sneered.

“As of last night, we don’t have to argue over Eve anymore.” TC smirked.

Julian was pissed off now, as he reached over the table and grabbed TC by the collar of his shirt.

“What did you say?!”

“You heard me.”

“You bastard!” Julian shouted then threw him back in his chair and walked off.

TC smiled as he saw the pain evident in Julian eyes. He wasn’t gonna let Julian have Eve ever, not if he had a say in it.

Julian walked out of the coffee house and started walking along the street. What TC said about Eve couldn’t have been true… he didn’t want to believe it. Balling his fist up, Julian continued to walk as tears started forming in the corner of his eyes, but he refused to let them fall.

TC followed Julian out of the coffee house shortly after he finished off his coffee. He wanted Julian to suffer and accept the fact that Eve was his now. As he continued to walk, he noticed Julian in his site. An evil smirk appeared on his face as he ran up to Julian and grabbed him by the shoulder.

“I wasn’t done talking to you yet.” TC spat.

“Get your damn hands off of me.” Julian said in a vicious voice.

“Not until you realize that Eve is mine now. I don’t want your ass around her anymore.” TC sneered.

“I don’t give a damn what you say, I’m gonna always be by Eve’s side.” Julian shouted then ripped TC’s hand off his shoulder.

“Now that’s where you’re wrong. I’ll kill you first!” TC said then sucker punched Julian in the face.

Julian stumbled back a bit as the sucker punch TC gave him surprised him. Once he regained his balance, he ran up on TC and tackled him. The two of them were rolling back and forth around on the ground before Julian managed to stand up and punch TC in the stomach, then in the jaw. TC grimaced a bit as he stood up and grabbed Julian by the front of his shirt and punched him in the face. TC tried punching Julian again, but Julian blocked it with his left arm, then grabbed TC by the head and put him in a headlock. Julian then flipped TC on his back and started punching him in the face repeatedly. TC was blacking in and out of consciousness as Julian continued to beat the crap out of him.

Somehow, when TC turned and looked to the right, as he saw a metal pipe a few meters away. Stretching as far as he could, his fingertips graze the pipe but he still couldn’t reach it. So he threw an elbow into Julian’s side to get him off of him then staggered over to the pipe. Julian grabbed hold of his ribs as he tried to catch his breath. When he finally did, he turned to go back after TC, but never saw it coming as the metal pipe collided into his side. Julian grabbed hold of his side and doubled over in pain. TC then wobbled over to Julian’s crumbled form and hit him again, this time in the other side. Julian grinded his teeth together as the pain became even more unbearable.

“I told you, Eve is mine! I won’t let you have her!” TC shouted as he hit Julian again his already injured ribs.

Julian grimaced then coughed up some blood as he struggled to stay conscious.

“I…I…won’t stay…away…from her…” Julian mumbled as he continued to cough up blood.

“Then you just signed your own death certificate.” And with that said, TC hit Julian once more with the pipe, knocking him out cold.

TC then looked around and noticed for the first time that while he and Julian fought, there were no people around to witness what he had done. He looked around to see if he dropped anything as they fought, then walked over to the unconscious Julian, picked him up and carried him over to the alley a few feet away. He then went back and picked up the metal pipe, looked around again one more time before running back to his car and driving off.

While TC drove back home, he decided that he just couldn’t leave Julian in the alley like that to die, so he picked up his cell phone and call 911.

“911 emergency, how may I help you?” the operator said.

“Yeah I would like to report a man badly beaten in the alley off of 4th and Main.”

“Are you sure sir?”

“Yes, hurry he needs help now!” TC shouted through the phone then hung up with an evil smirk on his face.

Eve was at her apartment packing for her first medical conference as chief of staff. This year, the conference was being held in Miami, Florida, and Eve could use the rest. Ever since TC and Julian came back to Harmony, she had been plagued by nothing but stress. Finishing up her last bag, she walked over to the door and was about open it when her phone rang.

“Hello.”

“Eve, it’s me Grace.”

“Grace what’s wrong? Your voice sounds funny?” she said in a worried voice.

“Eve… its Julian.” Grace whispered painfully.

“What about Julian?” Eve shrieked.

“He’s been rushed to the hospital. It’s bad Eve, really bad.” Grace said in a somber voice.

Eve nearly dropped her phone when she heard what Grace said. And here she was complaining about him for no reason. “Grace, are you there with him?” Eve barely managed to say as her voice started cracking.

“Yeah. Sam and I are both here with him.”

“I’m on my way.” Eve said as she hung up her phone and raced outside to her car. ‘Julian… don’t you dare die on me.’ She thought painfully as tears started falling from her eyes.
