Today We Wed

She sat in the grass holding the daisy as her long brown hair swept around her face. In her tiny yellow dress she smiled as she pulled a white petal from the flower. "He loves me, He loves me not." She giggled as she peeled the flower of the petals. "He love me, He loves me not." She spoke again.

"He loves you." A voice laughed from behind the tiny child.

"Luis!" She giggled jumping up raising her arms for him.

"Well I love you at least." He smirked.

"But you gotta love me, your my brother." Theresa spoke with a huge smile.

"And one day some guy is going to come along and he’ll love you too."

"Will he be a prince?" Theresa asked smiling again. "I want a prince."

"Oh, he’ll be a prince." Luis nodded kissing her forehead.

"Good ‘cause I wanta be a princess." She nodded.

"But you already are a princess, your my little princess."

"Luis, I gotta marry a prince to be a princess!" She spoke knowingly.

"Oh I see." Luis nodded. "You read to many fairytales Resa." He joked.

"Mama says fairytales make you dream, dreaming is good right?" She quizzed. "Cause I like to dream, and pretend I'm a princess living in a big house!"

"You are a dreamer Theresa." Luis smiled. "But just remember, nothings wrong with living in a small house, as long as you have your prince."

"But my prince will be rich." She pouted. "So I can live in a big house."

Luis shook his head. "Something tells me your going to lead a very interesting life Resa."

Theresa giggled and hugged Luis kissing his cheek . "I love you Luis."

"And I love you my silly little dreamer." He laughed as he tickled her.

"Theresa, Theresa wake up!" A distant voice called as her eyes began to flutter open. "Theresa you can sleep in later." It spoke as she finally saw her brother staring down at her, his hazel eyes showing amusement.

"Miguel." She whispered.

"You were dreaming again weren’t you?" He questioned. "Do you live to dream?" He laughed as she sat up in the bed.

"I, I had this dream, but it was a memory, it was me and Luis." She frowned.

"I have those." He smiled. "They actually make me feel safe." He admitted.

"I miss him Miguel." She said wiping her eyes. "I miss him and Sheridan."

"We all do sis." Miguel said touching her hand. "But I know its hard for you, you were always his baby."

"I was not." She said crossing his arms.

"Was too." Miguel laughed. "I was always so jealous of you two. I felt like I was just there, on the outside."

"Miguel, I had no idea."

He shrugged. "I had Kay, Reese, Simone and even Charity, they helped me a lot. When I was little Kay would come over because she always felt the same. We’d just hang out and laugh about being the outsiders."

"You were never a outsider." Theresa assured him. "Luis bragged on you all the time. His brother the basketball star, or his brother the awesome pitcher. He told everyone that you were just like him only younger."

Miguel’s eyes grew wide. "He said that? You mean he felt that way?" He asked as a smile began to grow on his face.

"Of course he did." Theresa laughed. "And if it makes you feel any better, I wouldn’t have made it through his death without you. Your my best friend Miguel, you and Chad, that’s the people I look to now."

"I feel the same about you Theresa, I need you so much now." He said hugging his sister. "But now isn’t the time for us to get mushy. You my beautiful sister have a wedding today, and I think its time to get out of that bed and get ready."

"Today." She spoke her mouth falling open. "Today is my wedding day." She gasp. "I forgot Miguel, I forgot about my own wedding." She shrieked. "What time is it? I’ve got to get ready, I’ve got to get the kids ready. I’m getting married, I’m marrying Chad." She said jumping out of the bed.

"Theresa!" Miguel laughed grabbing her shoulders. "Calm down! Breathe sis, you have plenty time, and Gwen and Mama are downstairs ready to help with Kendra and Matt." He assured her. "You have nothing to worry about. The kids have plenty people to take care of them, and you, you have people ready to help you too." He told her.

"But there’s so much to do." She frowned.

"And it will get done." He soothed. "Relax, today is your day, you just need to relax."

"Relax." Theresa nodded. "I just need to relax." She repeated as her frantic eyes looked up at Miguel. "Miguel I don’t know how to relax." She cried out falling on the bed with a huff.

"Then I guess I better call in reinforcement." He sighed. "Ladies, a little help!" He yelled. "We got a crazed bride to be on our hands!"

Chad Crane stared in his mirror a frown on his face. "Please don’t let me pass out today." He spoke looking upward. "Let me make it through this wedding today, please just let me make it." He pleaded.

"Son you’re going to be fine." Julian Crane snickered. "All men get nervous before their weddings."

"So you were nervous?" Chad asked sending a glance toward his father.

With a frown Julian lowered his head. "Well, I wasn’t exactly sober the day I wed Ivy." He answered. "But I’m sure if I had of been I would have been nervous."

Chad laughed slightly. "Well I’m glad your off the bottle now dad, it means the world to me and I’m sure it makes Ivy proud."

"Dude we have a problem." Justin’s voice boomed as he entered the room still in is boxes.

"Problem." Chad swallowed. "Did he just say problem."

Justin smirked. "Chad, don’t kill me, but you know that ring you told me to hold on too?" He asked.

"You mean Theresa’s wedding ring? The ring I need today to marry the woman I love? That right?"

"That’d be the one." Justin nodded.

"Son what have you done?" Julian asked looking over at Justin.

"Well I was in the bathroom brushing my teeth, and I picked the ring up, and it sort of fell."

"Fell?" Chad questioned. "Fell where?" He asked starting to panic.

"Down the sink." Justin answered back.

"It didn’t." Chad said grabbing Justin by the shoulders. "Please tell me it didn’t."

Justin began to smile. "Okay it didn’t, but the look on your face was priceless man." Moving his arm upward he opened his hand to reveal the band.

Chad let out a sigh of relief. "You ever do something like that to me again." He said shaking his head. "And I promise you, your days living with me won’t be happy ones."

Julian chuckled. "I like this one." He said walking over to Justin. "He’s witty."

"That I am." Justin bragged.

"He’s full of it." Chad muttered. "This isn’t funny, my wedding day isn’t funny."

"Dude I was trying to get you to lighten up. You just be doing cart wheels today, your marrying a hot babe, relax."

Chad rolled his eyes. "First, Do not call Theresa a hot babe, and second your little jokes aren’t going to help me, they’re going to kill me." Chad sighed.

"Spoken like a man in love." Julian laughed. "Relax son, today is your day. Just think about Theresa and savor every second of your wedding."

"Oh I plan on that." Chad laughed. "You better believe I’m going to remember every single thing about today!"

Gwen smiled as she walked down the stairs, "Pilar is talking with her." She laughed. "She’s still freaking out."

"That’s my sister, she doesn’t understand what ‘remain calm’ means. She was born a drama queen, and she will always be a drama queen."

Gwen smiled. "She has came along way Miguel, even I’ll admit that."

"Very true." He smiled wrapping his arms around Gwen’s waist. "She has changed for the better."

"Speaking of changes." Gwen spoke. "There’s something I need to say."

Miguel sighed. "Why do I get worried when you say those words?" He asked.

"Its nothing bad." She smiled. "Its just that you told me you loved me two weeks ago." She began. "And I said nothing."

"You said plenty." Miguel spoke forcing a smile. "Just knowing you believe in us meant so much."

"But Miguel, there was more I wanted to say." Gwen frowned moving away from him. "So much more."

"And you can tell me when your ready."

"But I am ready Miguel." Gwen said lowering her head. "I’m ready to tell you how I feel." She told him taking his hand. "You have became such a special part of my life, and I want you to know that."

"I feel the same baby." Miguel whispered.

"Miguel." Gwen spoke taking a deep breath. "I love you." Those three simple words sounded so sweet as they came from Gwen’s mouth, yet they were the hardest words she had ever spoken.

"Gwen you don’t have to." Miguel began.

"I mean them Miguel, I’m in love with you and I mean that with everything in me." She smiled. "I love you Miguel, only you."

Miguel grabbed Gwen lifting her off the ground as he place a kiss on her lips. "I love you Gwen Hotchkiss, I love you with everything in me."

"Mama I’m scared." Theresa frowned. "What if I’m not a good wife? What if I go back to my old habits? Mama what if Chad realizes I’m not the woman he thinks I am?" Theresa cried.

"Nonsense." Pilar said shaking her head. "Don’t talk like that child. Your a good woman and your going to be a good wife."

"But mama what if I’m not?" Theresa asked sitting down on the bed. "I’m so afraid I’m going to mess this up."

"You listen to me Theresa." Pilar spoke sitting down next to her daughter. "You will not mess this up, you and Chad are going to be happy, and your going to have a beautiful family."

"But Chad deserves better than me." Theresa sighed.

"Theresa, Chad loves you for who you are. I’ve saw the way he looks at you and its real. He loves you with his whole heart. Your my child but I know your not perfect, no one is perfect." Pilar smiled. "But Chad loves you even with your flaws, just like I love your papa and Sheridan loved Luis. You just walk up that aisle today and marry that man Theresa."

"Thank you mama." Theresa smiled hugging Pilar. "I love you."

"And I love you." Pilar laughed.

"So can we get me ready for my wedding." Theresa laughed through tears.

"I think we can do that." Pilar smiled. "In fact I have a gift for you."

"Mama you didn’t have to get me something." Theresa frowned.

"Its your something old." She smiled reaching in her pocket.

"Mama what is it?" She asked as Pilar handed her the small black box.

With shaking hands Theresa opened the box to see a old locket. "Mama this was yours." She said looking up. "The one with yours and papa’s photos in it."

"Yes, but the photos have changed." Pilar smiled. "Open it."

Theresa slowly opened the old heart locket her mouth falling open as tears began to flood again. On one side a photo of Luis, and on the other a photo o her as a small child.

"This way he’ll be with you today." Pilar cried. "He’ll be right there next to your heart."

"Thank you mama." Theresa choked. "Thank you so much."
