 by Faith81

Enjoy!!

Between Heaven and Earth

They bent down together on the soft green grass. Miguel taking her hand in his as she sat the fresh red roses on the grave. Behind them stood Gwen, Chad and the kids, but at that moment all that mattered was the grave in front of them.

Don't cry for me when I'm gone
Keep the faith and be strong
'Cause through it all I've been blessed
I faced my fears
And I've passed the test
So when you look up in the sky
On a sunny day
Imagine me drifting away

"Are you okay?" Miguel whispered looking over at his sister. Her fingers went to the letters on the tombstone. Touching each letter like she did every time she came. She nodded her head, looking up at him for a moment.
"Its not going to get easier is it?" She asked as he lowered his head. "We’re never going to stop hurting are we?"
He put a protective arm around her, "I don’t see how it can." He spoke looking back to where his girlfriend stood. "We just have to keep going."
Theresa smiled, taking a second to look over at her husband, Matthew in his arms begging to get down, and Kendra and Jada standing beside Chad, Kendra holding his hand with a frown on her beautiful face.

"Do you think they’re watching us?" Theresa asked Miguel. "Are they still with us?"
"Of course they are Resa. They’re always going to be with us, their a part of us, a part of this town."
"Even in their deaths they helped change Harmony." She sighed. "Helped change us all."
Miguel smiled. "That’s Luis for you, his job is never done."
"And Sheridan’s right beside him, I just know it."

There was a moment when all they could do was stare. Just let everything that had happened float through their minds. Death wasn’t just a word to them anymore, it was real. So much had changed since the day their mother dropped the phone with a loud scream. They had both found love in spite of their pain, fought back from the sorrow only to find that it was still with them. Each day seemed easier, but there were always those moments when it hurt, when tears fell for no reason. They had there father again, but he was no substitute for the brother they had lost.

Remember all the times we had
Some were great and some were sad
But you know that in the end
Our love was stronger then when we began
No unforgiven sins and no regrets
Just the times of our lives that we'll
Never Forget

"Aunt Resa." Kendra’s voice whispered, as the small child lightly tapped her aunt on the shoulder.
"Yes baby?" Theresa asked looking up. In Kendra’s hands were daisy’s, her own hair ribbon wrapped around them.
"Can I put these next to the roses? I picked them all by myself." She said reaching her tiny hands out, her long brown hair falling around her round face.
"Of course sweetheart." Theresa choked out tears glazing her eyes.
She watched as the little girl sat down in the grass, sitting the flowers right beside the roses. Kissing her hand she touched the tombstone. "I know you liked Roses mommy, but I like daisies best." She said standing up again.
"I think your mommy liked Daisies too." Miguel said squeezing Kendra’s hand.
"I hope so." She said her eyes looking downward. "I’m gonna go back where Jada is okay?" She questioned.
"Yeah, we’ll be there in a little while baby." Theresa smiled as the little girl kissed her on the cheek. "I love you Aunt Resa." She whispered, then looked at the grave and frowned. "I love you too mommy and daddy." Turning she ran back to where Chad stood, his strong arms going around her in a hug.

Theresa let out a heavy sigh resting her head on Miguel’s shoulder. "Is it okay to be happy Miguel?"
"Of course it is sis." He soothed kissing the side of her head. "You know they want that."
Theresa sighed. "When I was little I just wanted to grow up, I wanted freedom because Luis was so strict."
"Now you just want to be a kid again don’t you?" Miguel asked staring at her with understanding.
"If it meant having his arms around me of course there’s times when I just want to go back in time." Turning she looked back at her family and smiled. "But then Kendra and Jada run down the stairs both giggling and they hug me and I know I don’t want to change this life I have. "
Miguel let out a heavy sigh, "I know what you mean."

Theresa kissed her fingers and applied her hand to the letters that she had just touched. Sheridan Crane Lopez-Fitzgerald it read as she studied it for a moment. "Happy Birthday Sheridan." She whispered. "We love you so much."
Slowly rising to her feet she sighed. "We should get going, Julian and Ivy have planned a dinner for tonight." Looking back over at her husband she saw him walking toward her, Gwen and the children following.
"Is everything Okay?" Gwen asked slipping her hand into Miguel’s.
He smiled down at the woman he loved his hazel eyes capturing her beauty. "Yeah everything is going to be just fine." He said his gaze going over to his sister as she nodded in agreement.
Theresa looked up at Chad a smile playing on her lips, "Thanks for giving us a little time."
Wrapping his free arm around her he smiled. "It was what you needed."
Gwen laughed slightly, "Sometimes I think Sheridan was behind Miguel and I getting together."
Theresa smiled, "She would certainly be happy to see you two together, you and the ‘other’ Lopez-Fitzgerald brother."
A tear fell from Gwen’s eye, "She’s always going to be my best friend, in my heart she’s always going to hold that space."

In the distance, Matt pointed his tiny finger a huge smile on his face. No one saw the two images that the small child clearly made out.

"Why can’t Kendra see me?" Her soft voice whispered as she looked over at her mother.
"In her heart she can feel you." Katherine said touching her daughter’s hand.
"They have so much to look forward to." The beautiful blonde smiled. "So many things are coming their way."
"Yes, and we’ll be right here, watching it all."
"Do you think they’re ready? For the good and the bad?" Her eyes glanced at Kendra who was holding Theresa’s hand tightly.
It was then that one angel smiled at the other, "My dear, they can take anything. Together they are a family that can handle whatever life throws at them."
"But apart they might crumble." Sheridan frowned. "What if they can’t handle it as a family?"
"No worries Sheridan. No worries."
"Chad and Theresa, do you think they’re ready?" Sheridan spoke with twinkling eyes. "They are going to be so blessed."
"And they deserve the blessings prepared for them." Katherine smiled.
Sheridan watched as Gwen kissed Miguel’s cheek. "They’ll all be happy." She sighed.
"But their battles aren’t over, life isn’t easy and some will have to fight to make their dreams come true."
Sheridan took her mother’s hand. "But I’ll be here. Watching my children and my family."
"Yes darling, indeed you will."
Smiling they both watched as the family walked away, huddled close to each other, gentle smiles on all of their faces. "They’re going to be all right mother." Sheridan spoke. "My family is going to be okay."
Slowly she blew her children a kiss and then the stunning angel in the long flowing red dress slowly disappeared as her children’s giggles echoed in the wind.

On the ships of heaven
I come sailing back to you...

Life would go on, people would come and people would go, but she would be right there, standing in the distant watching it all.
