Taken Dreams - Chapter 3

The next morning, Rebecca had made an appointment
with Dr. Russell to ask about her sleepwalking. It
wasn't something she commonly did, but the last
several nights she had been waking up to find
herself in strange places around the mansion.
"This does sound serious," said Eve, after Rebecca
had explained the scenerio with the letter opener.

"What do you think is causing these sleep walking spells?" asked Rebecca.

"There are a lot of causes for sleepwalking, such as
under-lying psychological problems." said Eve.

"Oh my God, you think I'm crazy, don't you?" asked
Rebecca.

"No, but you have been under a lot of stress lately,"
said Eve. Eve advised Rebecca about sleep medications.

"Medications?" asked Rebecca. "I'm not so sure."

"They might help with the sleepwalking or at least
help you to get more sleep," said Eve. "It was a good
thing that Julian caught you from falling down the
stairs with a letter opener, you could have been seriously hurt and
no one might have realized it until the next morning since it was the
middle of the night." Rebecca flashed back
to coming out of her sleepwalking spell and wondering
how she got there and barely remembering retreiving
the letter opener. Rebecca shuddered, wondering what
could have possibly gave her the urge to go get it,
and more creepy, where she thought she was going with
it, all she remembered were bits and peices of
the incident before Julian had snapped her out of it.

"Alright," said Rebecca. Eve made a prescription and
gave Rebecca a time frame to let her know if the meds
weren't working by it. Rebecca left Dr. Russell's
office.

"I just hope this doesn't happen again tonight,"
said Rebecca. "Just what was I doing with the
letter opener?" Rebecca's mind flashed back to
the phone call she had made and saying that maybe
she should forget it and take care of it herself.

"Oh my God-" thought Rebecca. "Could I have been
going to attack Theresa in my sleep?" Rebecca
remembered Julian explaining that she almost fell
down the stairs and would have landed on the letter
opener. The thought of going to attack Theresa in her
sleep and landing on the letter opener that was intended
for Theresa was a scary thought.

Meanwhile, Julian was in his library, staring at
the wall. All day, he could not stop thinking about
the decision he had made the night before to ignore
his conscience.

"If doing the right thing is supposed to be right
then why do I feel the way I do right now?" asked
Julian. Julian felt like he couldn't even drag
himself out of his chair. Gwen walked into the library.

"Hello, Gwen," said Julian.

"Julian, said Gwen. "I really need to ask a favor."

"Anything," said Julian.

"Do you think you could ask security to not allow
Theresa in the mansion?" Gwen asked.

"I'll see what I can do," said Julian.

"Because Theresa was in our bedroom last night." said
Gwen.

"What?" Julian asked, stunned.

"She was acting really strange, she started trying to
convince Ethan that he still loved her. She was
hiding something behind her back but she ran out
before we could see what it was yelling that Ethan
still loved her." Gwen said.

"This is weird." said Julian. Julian decided not to
explain last nights sleepwalking incident, she was
upset enough over Theresa wandering into the mansion.
"I'll try to make sure security doesn't let this
happen again." said Julian.

That night, Rebecca began to sleepwalk again, unaware
that Theresa had sneaked into the mansion to finish
what she had set out to do the night before, scissors
in hand. Rebecca's plan and the phone call had
gotten into her subconscious. Soon, Rebecca and
Theresa were fighting each other. The letter opener
had flown out of Rebecca's hand at some point during
the fight, and Theresa had dropped her pair of
scissors. Rebecca gasped as Theresa's hands closed
tightly around her throat while Rebecca dug her
fingernails into Theresa's arm, causing Theresa to
cry out in pain while Rebecca was trying to get
Theresa's hands off of her throat. Theresa lost her
balance and fell into one of the drawers that was
in the hallway. Rebecca had sleepwalked back into
the bedroom while Theresa left the mansion.

Later that night, Theresa woke up in her own bed,
wondering why her arm was sore. Theresa turned on
the light to see that she had small gashes on both
of her arms. "How did I get these?" Theresa asked.
Theresa flashed back to the incident, coming to her
senses. "Oh my God- did I-" said Theresa. Theresa
opened the drawer of her bedside table.
"I know I put them here I just know it-" Theresa
said. "D-did I kill Rebecca Hotchkiss?" asked
Theresa, not remembering dropping the scissors.
"Oh my God what was I doing?" Theresa asked. Theresa
wondered what kind of state she was in that had
caused her to go to the Crane mansion in the middle
of the night, only to end up in her own bed. "I can't
let mama find out about this." said Theresa.

Rebecca woke the next morning, not remembering any
of the incident.

"I can't remember the last time I felt this rested."
said Rebecca.

"I don't think you sleep walked at all," said Julian.

Rebecca went into the hallway, to find the letter
opener on the floor. "What is this doing here?"
Rebecca asked. "I have to put this somewhere where I
can't get at it." Rebecca picked up the letter
opener, not noticing the pair of scissors, which
were shoved where she could not see them.

Meanwhile, Whitney sat at the breakfast table early
the next morning, in her tennis outfit and tennis
equipment in the dining room. Eve, T.C. and Liz
walked in.

"What's this?" thought Liz. "How am I supposed to make
Eve watch her mistakes all over again?"

"Whitney, what the-" T.C. asked.

"Mom, daddy, I've decided to go back to tennis."
said Whitney. "This time I'm going to work harder,
focus more and put my best into it."

"Are you sure this is what you want?" asked Eve.
Whitney nodded.

"I'm sure." said Whitney.
