Subject: Evian Turns a Corner at the Book Cafe

I really liked Eve and David becoming allies, if not a friendship growing there. It was so good to hear David say something outside of ' I really despise you, Ivy for making me do this'.

Liz was also good as David blasted her, and she was trying to dig up the dirt on the relationship between David and Eve...

I have to hand it to Liz, she hasn't been drinking the Harmony water too long, so some functioning smart cells are there. She knew that if David and Eve weren't lovers, then they were close because of some SECRET they shared. Now we have Liz sniffing into that.

I thought TC had some nerve being upset with Eve because she was 'holding hands' with David in a PUBLIC PLACE. After all, Eve found him kissing another woman IN THEIR BEDROOM, IN THEIR BED!
The old double standard.

Eve told TC that she had something to tell him about Liz's sister. Liz didn't believe it when David told her that Eve was going to tell the truth. After all, if Eve told TC, then what could she have to hold over Eve? How could she torture her?

Liz wasn't having it. She went over there, and TC told her that he and Eve were having a conversation. I actually liked that, because it showed that Eve is still TC's priority. I liked their conversation when they first sat down. TC finally REALLY looked at Eve and his love and concern seeped through. That's the TC I like. Liz isn't his priority. Liz isn't his wife. IF she gets TC, it will be by default, not because he doesn't love Eve.

Eve began telling TC the story of Liz's sister. How close they were. How much the sister loved Liz. That they grew up in a strict home, and that the sister had a love for singing. How she went forward to try and make a life as a singer, but that her intentions were always to go back and get Liz once she made it big. Liz looked like she wasn't having any of it. She didn't want to believe it.

Of course, this being Passions, JULIAN just happened to drop by the Book Cafe when Eve began talking about the man Liz's sister became involved with because of singing. She told that the guy was rich and powerful, and that he introduced the sister to a world she had never known. During this time, we see flashbacks of Julian and Eve enjoying one another's company. They even had the one of when Eve was taking the pictures (the ones from the Bird Statue) for Julian. I'm glad they included that because it confirmed something that I had thought all along - Eve was WILLING with Julian. Sure, she did wild things with him, and it was a wild time, but Julian didn't FORCE Eve to do those things. As she had told him the night they shared the 'vision' -

" I loved that Crane lifestyle."

It was good to hear Eve admit that she did all of those things of her own accord, because she's taking responsbility for her relationship with Julian, and not painting Julian as the villain who took advantage of the innocent ingenue.

Julian was listening, and wondering if Eve was about to tell all, and wondering why.

Liz really had her knickers in a twist when she disgustingly said, ' WHAT ABOUT SEX? WASN'T THAT A PART OF IT?"

Eve admitted that sex was involved, and Liz challenged the feelings of her sister towards this man, to which Eve replied:

" She loved this man. She thought that she would spend the rest of her life with him."

Of course as she said it, she and Julian locked eyes. I still say NOBODY does 'eyes across a crowded room' like Evian......Nobody.

TC is wondering how Eve knows so much about it, and just when you think it's possible that he's catching a clue......he doesn't. I'm sorry, I just don't want to believe TC is that dense. I think he's choosing to be blind..LOL

I LOVED David shaking his head as TC continued to be clueless....it's little things like that which add to a scene. Justin Carroll had no dialogue in those scenes, but used his facial expressions to tell a story.

Eve continued the story, and told of the heartbreak that 'the sister' endured when she realized that the man she loved wasn't going to spend his life with her. That her addictions got worse. That she sank into despair. Liz challenged her when Eve said she didn't have anyone to turn to. Eve told Liz that 'the sister' wouldn't go to Liz because she was ashamed and guilty to come to Liz. She had made a mess of her life. That 'the sister' decided to get her life in order, and even though it was tough - she was going to do it alone. That she never forgot Liz; never stopped loving her, and that she lives with the guilt of letting both of them down. Liz asked what happened to the guy, and Eve said the guy was gone. TC asks 'what kind of creep would get a woman hooked on drugs and alcohol and leave her?', and the camera answers by having the lens totally on Julian the entire time. Ben Masters did a great job of showing Julian's empathy with Eve, as well as the guilt he feels for hurting her. The look in his eyes when TC was blasting 'the guy' showed that Julian agreed with TC about 'that guy' being a rotten person.

TC and Eve were interrupted by his students, and he left the table. Liz came over to Eve and told her that she couldn't be doing this. Why was she doing it, and Eve told her because she wanted to strip Liz of the power to blackmail her. Eve is tired...tired of the blackmail and secrets. She is trying to have faith in TC. Faith in their marriage and his love.

Once Liz leaves the table, David goes to Liz. Liz claims Eve will never tell, and David believes she will. That it's a good thing, because Eve won't have to deal with her. He admonishes her for not only blackmailing Eve, but also for trying to take her husband. David admits that Eve might lose her family, but tells Liz that SHE will go down with Eve, and that she has nobody to blame but herself - Bravo David!!

Julian comes over to Eve and they talk. He asks Eve if she's about to tell the truth, and she admits she will. He asks why, and she tells him she's being blackmailed. Julian instantly tells her that Ivy won't do a thing, and Eve explains that it's not Ivy, but Liz, and that Liz is her sister. Julian tells her that she's being hasty, and Eve tells him if he's worried about what TC will do, then he should leave the Book Cafe. Julian says that it's an excellent idea and gets up to leave. He stops in his tracks, and tells Eve no. He tells her that he abandoned her years ago, and it was one of the worst moments of his life. He won't abandon her again.

" I won't run. Abandon you this time. We'll do this together."

WOW!

What a moment for Julian. A terrific moment. Not only acknowledging the past, but refusing to repeat it.

See, it's THIS Julian with Eve that just makes me melt.

Eve tells Julian that TC will take his anger out on him. Julian counters that if he left, Eve would be left to handle the brunt of it alone. By him staying, he will take some of the 'heat' of TC's fury.

Eve appreciates Julian offer, but thinks he should leave. She promises not to mention his name, and Julian wonders if Liz knows he is the man of Eve's past. Eve says she doesn't think so, but doesn't know if both Liz and TC won't put the pieces together. Julian says that if it happens, fine. But, he's not leaving Eve.

Eve asks him:

" Who are you, Julian? This is...so unlike you."

To which Julian replied:

" Now, I suppose, but if you remember, there was a part of me long ago, that made you first fall in love with me. Perhaps I could be that man again."

SIGH......

The connection between them is SO obvious. It's there and glaring.

Eve tells him that TC is coming, and Julian tells her that he will be 'right over there if you need me.'

Tracey and Ben rocked today. Julian is at his best with Eve - most human. And, Eve - there is an honesty she shares with Julian that just can't be matched. Since the beginning, they've been raw and honest with one another. An intimacy and a trust that she doesn't even share with TC.

Loved it all.
