Subject: This week was a turning point for the Russell family. A turning point to its destruction.

Eve has crossed the point of no return after this week. I'm so sad for her. I know she's brought it on herself, but I still feel bad for her. My heart broke for Eve.

Eve was at the point where she SHOULD have told the truth. I think TC would have been furious, pissed off even...

But, dare I say it? I believe he would have forgiven Eve.

This week was fabulous for Rodney Van Johnson. People ask how Eve could love someone like TC, and I think this week we were given the answer. Rodney was on the money the entire week. In every scene from when Eve first broke down about her son, his entire persona reeked of a man desperately in love with his wife, and tortured that she was in pain. Over and over this week, it was in his voice, his eyes...everything.

When Eve left the house, he was frantic to find her. She was his wife; she was in pain; he had to comfort her. Once he found her, he just wanted her to explain what she had said to him. As she was egged on and began to hyperventilate, he was panicked. Sure, as a coach, he's probably seen more than his share of kids who hyperventilated over the years, but those were kids he coached, not his wife who he adored. So, he was out of his mind with worry.

You could FEEL TC's love for Eve. I thought Rodney's done a fabulous job with it. I think he would have been mad as hell, pissed, hell, they may have even separated, but I believe he could have worked it through with Eve…IF she had told the truth. Friday makes that impossible anymore, and that saddens me.

Yet, for TC, this was also a moment. This is a man who has built the last 20 years of his life based upon certain truths, and this week came awfully close to having them crash down around him.

For some reason STILL unexplained by the writers, TC Russell is a man obsessed by the idea of 'perfection'. His wife is 'perfect'. She was 'perfect' and 'unspoiled' until she met him. He is her first, last and only lover. So much of TC's marriage to Eve is wrapped up in this image that I have to wonder where does it come from? What woman shaped his mind to the extent that he needs this from his wife? TC has always been very unwilling to have anything challenge  THIS image of Eve that he has. It's like a part of him would die if he had to give up that image of her.

I loved it when TC was like ‘ I think I explained everything, Liz’, when the Lizzard was trying to cause more trouble by smiling and telling TC, ‘ I don’t understand why Eve would keep it a secret.’ TC didn’t care that Liz didn’t understand and he told her to shut up, in no uncertain terms. That was funny because I hate Lemon Liz, but it points out how deep it goes for TC to keep his ‘vision’ of Eve.

For Eve, this was a turning point week.

She had a choice to tell the truth, and she failed.

I doubt anyone is as strong an Eve fan as I am, but I couldn’t help but feel sadness for her on Friday. I know she’s done some bad things, but up until this week, I thought she imagined the worst in her mind. After Friday, I believe her worst fears will become a self-fulfilling prophecy of her own making.

The key was when TC and Whitney heard that Eve had a son. The look of pain and concern on their faces for Eve was the indication of love that she’s been looking for, and fears that she would lose. Both TC and Whitney were very compassionate towards Eve when they saw how upset she was. They love her, and this time, they remembered it. Eve will not be so fortunate when the truth is finally revealed.

Eve was panicked when she arrived at the docks and ran into Julian. She told him that it was all over. That she had told TC the truth, and that her life, as she knew it, was gone. Julian was her rock throughout it all. He tried to smooth the waters for Eve, incurring TC’s wrath, and Fox’s curiousity. While nobody else would notice, Fox certainly did, as he watched his father repeatedly come to Eve’s aid over the course of the week. He simply doesn’t understand the connection between his father and Eve, but he’s certainly going to investigate it.

A recurring theme for Eve is the love for her daughters. How she doesn’t want them to go down the same path she’s went down when she was young. And, those who threaten her, get to her that way. When Eve was going to tell the truth when Ivy first began her blackmail, she was willing to face TC. So, what did Ivy use? Her daughters. When Eve was going to tell awhile ago, Ivy had Whitney drugged, and Eve saw her past in front of her in her daughter and buckled. On Friday, Eve was about to tell the truth, and then Lizzard slithered in, commenting about how upset Whitney was at the ‘thought’ of Eve having another child and what would happen if it were true. Eve then has a vision of a drugged out Whitney, and buckles to TC’s vision of Eve’s son. Her children have always been her Achilles heel, and in the end, Eve will wind up losing them, despite her love for them.

When Eve feared for Julian’s life once TC knew the truth, she told Julian to leave, but he wouldn’t. He stood right there, unwilling to let her go through this troubled time alone. Julian said something that rang true – if TC loved Eve the way she deserved to be loved, then the truth shouldn’t affect her marriage. I believe that was true up until this week, but allowing TC and the others to believe that she miscarried, instead of admitting to the existence of her son, Eve has ruined her marriage. At the end on Friday, Eve told him that she knew she had dodged a bullet, but even when it was horrible, it wasn’t as bad as what she thought it would be because she wasn’t alone. She truly appreciated having Julian in her corner, and she kissed him lightly on the cheek. Julian loved the kiss, closing his eyes, grateful to have just this bit of affection from Eve. Eve doesn’t know what to make of Julian. She admitted to him that it was hard for her to even grasp that Julian’s presence had comforted her. The walls she built around her heart where Julian are concerned have all but melted, and I doubt Eve is ready for what’s in her heart for Julian. Since I doubt that she dealt with or worked through her feelings for Julian, the feelings are still there. As is her love for TC. Eve has another dilemma on her hands, and she doesn’t even realize it.

Julian was fierce in his condemnation of Lizzard, who enjoyed Eve’s pain and TC’s confusion. Of all the players this week, Lizzard is the most pathetic, and the most unsympathetic. She blames Eve for all her problems, and it’s just pitiful. Eve was no older than SIMONE is now when she fell into singing, drinking and drugs. She’s blaming someone SIMONE’s age, for her problems? She’s angry at Eve for NOT being an alcoholic and drug addict. She’s angry at Eve for cleaning up her life, and getting married and having a family. She’s angry that Eve not only has a job, but a CAREER as a doctor.

How warped is that? Being mad at someone for getting off drugs and booze and turning their lives around to be a productive citizen. How bitter and cold and without feeling do you have to be in order to rationalize all of that. Now, the audience knows what Eve’s done to keep her secret, but Liz doesn’t. Liz doesn’t have a clue, so she’s blaming someone Simone’s age for her inability to function emotionally in the world.

Sick.

And, if she’s so desperate for TC to know the truth, then cut the ‘Oh, I just thought there was more to the story’ crap that she went on for eons with TC. IF she wants the man to know, then tell him herself. Do your OWN dirty work.

I still don’t hate TC enough to wind up with Lizzard. She does NOT love him. She hasn’t once expressed an emotion towards TC, Whitney or Simone that didn’t have getting back at Eve as the underbelly of it all.

Brook Kerr hit all the right notes this week. She really has grown as an actress, and is ready for the more meaty material. While I don’t think Whitney is going to turn to drugs when the truth comes out, I do believe it’s quite possible for Whitney to ‘go crazy’. And, I think Brook will be fabulous as ‘Crazy Whitney’.

Everything is there. She played it right. Whitney already has doubts about her and Chad.  She should, considering that she is the weak link of their relationship, and not more than 2 weeks (Passions-time), she wasn’t willing to tell the truth about her relationship with Chad because she had a plan. Now, they’ve been ‘outed’, and suddenly she’s ready for marriage? Not hardly, Whitney.

So, she has doubts about her relationship with Chad working out, and then hears Eve’s confession about having a son. Her compassion for her mother changes during a conversation with Theresa. I thought it was very much in character for Whitney to want to find her brother. For her to be open to the possibility of having a brother – until she realized that CHAD could be her brother.

Compassion turned to fear, panic, dread, and disgust. You could SEE these emotions in Whitney through Brook, who was on the money with her expressions. All that could go through Whitney’s mind was the possibility that the man she loved, and had made love to, was her brother. The thought nearly sent her out of her mind. Theresa tried to calm her, but Whitney’s mind was working overtime, and the fear overtook her. She couldn’t even stand to have Chad touch her, as she backed away from him. From his touch. From him. From this horrible possibility.

Whitney was angry, frantic. The compassion for her mother was gone, and in it’s place- righteous indignation and anger. How DARE her mother lecture her and Simone all those years about doing the right thing; saving yourself; being pure for a relationship – all the while SHE had gotten pregnant and had another child. The way Whitney said ‘ And, I know the baby’s father was NOT Daddy’, was fabulous. It was revenge for all the lectures. Whitney has spent her entire life modeling her life on the image that her mother presented to her, and to find that image wasn’t true, and because of it, she could lose the man she loves, and have committed horrible sins, Whitney wasn’t about to let her mother off the hook.

She was clinging to TC’s explanation. She had to know ‘the truth’. For her sanity, it had to be made clear, right then and there. Whitney was beyond relieved when she heard Eve back up TC’s ‘explanation’. She hadn’t committed horrible sins…she was free to love. The weight of the world had been lifted from her shoulders.

And, that’s why Whitney is going to turn on Eve something vicious when the truth is finally revealed. She’s going to remember this moment, and remember how her mother had the perfect opportunity to tell the truth, and blew it, thus allowing Whitney to go even deeper in her relationship with Chad.

Dare I say it? Dare I mention it? But, I must.

Charles Divins was a bust.

AGAIN!

These were meaty scenes, folks. There was a possibility of Chad getting one of heart’s deepest desires – finding his parents, while losing his other heart’s desire – Whitney.

And, the man made it seem like he was ordering dinner off the menu at McDonald’s.

Where was the torture? Where was the despair? Where was the devastation?

Where was ANYTHING outside of Divins’ patented monotone delivery void of emotion?

Seeing Divins’ lackluster performance this week was doubly hard because of conclusions I have.

I am convinced after this week that Chad IS Julian AND Eve’s son. It has to be.

Why?

Because, this was Eve’s waterloo. Her last chance, and she blew it. She will now be punished to the utmost for the pain she is going to bring once the truth is revealed. If you listened to Eve this week, she is fixated on her son. All of that pain is at the surface, and just the mere possibility of her son being alive, is enough for her. The possibility of finding him, and having him in her life – she’s willing to risk everything that she has now for it.

Eve’s greatest fear is being alone. The worst moment of her life was her son’s death. It was the worst because once he died, everything positive in her life died. She wasn’t even as old as Whitney, and she had loved Julian, been abandoned by Julian, battled addiction, spurned by her family, had and lost a child. Her son was the last part of it all. It was all she had to hold onto, and once he was gone – emotionally, she was dead until she met TC years later. In the back of her mind, Eve has put her son out as a life raft of sorts. There is a corner in her mind where she believes, ‘ Well, even if I lose TC and my daughters, I could still have a chance with my son.’

And, that would be true – if her son weren’t Chad.

The ONLY way for Eve to hit total rock bottom is for CHAD to be her son. Her son must hate her as much as the rest of them. And the thought of Divins being in the role when it all comes down, is too horrible for words.

For Fox and Theresa, I thought this was a good week for the two of them also. Theresa was being Theresa –hopeless romantic. That’s what she is. She’s an obsessed hopeless romantic, but that’s who she is. She was supportive of Whitney. She was telling her friend all the right things, until it looked like Chad could be Whitney’s brother. Then, all her words went out the window. I don’t blame Theresa – there’s nothing in her romance book to tell her how to deal with a situation like this. Whitney is her best friend, and she wants her to be happy. Mainly because if Whitney’s love life works out, then it will be a signal to her that she and Ethan will be fine.

Fox was hilarious this week. When he snuck up behind Liz as she was speaking to herself, I cracked up. Then, he was on the ‘Chad is Eve’s son’ possibility like white on rice. I don’t think he actually believed it, but it was something to use to undermine Chadney, and he had to take it. He was planting in Chad’s mind how horrible it would have been if he had slept with his sister. Saying it over and over again, so that the very thought of being with Whitney gave Chad an ‘EEEWWW’ feeling.

When Theresa lamented how awful it would be if Chad was Whitney’s brother, Fox pointed out how Whitney was young, and that she’d find someone new. Any other time, Theresa would be lamenting the power of everlasting love, but even she gets that siblings don’t get to share that kind of love. Fox is more than ready to step into the void.

Theresa and Fox were talking about how this was a good time even though a truth had come out. Fox admits that he thought it was something more, but Theresa was like, no, the truth didn’t hurt a couple today. Fox watches his father, and Eve and wonders to himself if the WHOLE truth had come out.

Then Theresa tells Fox that Dr. Russell isn’t the kind of woman to have an illegitimate child, and that she’s always told them that TC was her first and only love. Just then, Fox notices Eve giving Julian a long look, and he wonders if it’s true. Julian and Eve do the ‘ eyes across a crowded room’ like no other, and it was just a matter of time before someone caught the looks between them. Fox is definitely one of the smarter citizens of Harmony, and you know he’s going to be on this story. He is going to snoop out the truth. Go Fox!!

This was a turning point for the Russells, and sadly, it doesn’t look too good from now on. The clock is ticking down to its destruction.
