Chapter 15

"Mrs. Winhrop you have a visitor." The officer on duty announced.

Theresa heart leaped for joy.

"Maybe it's Ethan." She thought. "He is finally here to tell me he is taking me away from this hell hole."

She eagerly followed the officer to the visiting area. Her heart sank when she laid eyes on her mother.

"Mama." She said, trying to mask her disappointment. "Do you have any good news for me?"

"Theresa you can talk!"

"I got my voice back last night." She said. "Tell me when is Ethan coming to take me home?"

Pilar glanced at the ground.

"Mama, Ethan is coming right?"

"No mija." She replied sadly. "Ethan refused to help."

Theresa looked at her mother, the rejection she felt appeared on her face.

"No mama, that's not true." She said in disbelief. "Ethan is still mad at me for going to Gwen's that's all." Sh said, trying to convinced herself that if she said it outloud it was true. "Well tell him that it worked. Ha ha ha, tell him I had learned my lesson." Pilar began to sobbed.

"Theresa stop it, darling you have to face facts, Ethan is not going to help, especially since Gwen is pregnant."

"I think she's lying mama." Theresa replied. "She's lying to get back at me for taking him away from her."

"I don't think so Theresa, Ethan was pretty convince..."

"SHE'S LYING!!"

Several guards glanced in their direction.

"Theresa, get a hold of yourself." Pilar warned. "Or you will never get out of here."

Theresa grabbed her mother's left hand and said in a cold voice.

"Sell your ring."

"Huh? What?" Pilr gasped.

"Sell your ring, I need to get out and be with Ethan."

"Theresa, I WILL NOT sell my wedding band just so you can go traisping after a man that doesn't want you!" Pilar hissed.

"At least my husband is alive mama."

Pilar slapped her daughter across the face.

"How dare you talk to me that way!"

"Sell the ring mama, I need to be with Ethan." She repeated. She got up from the table. "Guards I'm ready to go back to my cell." She said.

"I'll come back and visit..."

"No mama." She interrupted. "Not until you have posted my bail."

"Dr. Hunter, this is Ethan Winthrop, the father of my child." Gwen said.

Ethan and Dr. Hunter shook hands.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Winthrop." Dr. Hunter replied.

"Please call me Ethan." He said.

"Okay Ethan." She smiled. "I'm glad to see you here" Sh said. "I always encouage both parents to participate in all aspect of the pregnancy."

"Believe me Dr. Hunter I'm going to be by Gwen's side for now on." He promised.

Gwen rolled her eyes and sighed.

"Today is a special day." Dr. Hunter began.
I am going to do an ultrasound." She explained. "So Gwen you just go in the next room and undress, we will be there shortly."

Gwen changed into te paper hospital gown and set upon the table. Ethan peeked into the room.

"Can I come in?" He asked.

"Sure."

He walked into the room and sat in the chair.

"How are you feeling?" He asked.

"I'm fine." She replied.

"Are you scared?"

"Just a little."

Dr. Hunter came into the room.

"First I'm going to check your vitals to make sure you're alright then I'm going to do an ultrasound of the baby." She explained.

Ethan watched as she cckd Gwen blood pressure and heart beat.

"Are you taking your iron pills and vitamins?"

"Faithfully."

"How about morning sickness?"

"Ritz crackers are my best friend." She joked. Dr. Hunter chuckled.

"Okay Gwen, everything looks good, now lay back on the table." Gwen did as she was instructed. "What I am going to do now is to check the development of te baby." She explaned. "By doing an ultrasound."

"Will it hurt the baby?" Ethan asked.

"No it is quite harmless." She replied. "Now Gwen I'm going to spread this gel all over your abdomen, it's going to feel cold going on."

She spread the gel over Gwen's abdomen. Now I'm going to slide this little gadget over you, now look at the screen.."

The baby came into view...

"Ohmigod!" Gwen cried in disbelief. "Is that my baby? Ethan look!"

Ethan had tears in hs eys, as he saw their baby for the first time, he took Gwen's hand in his and squeezed it.

"What a beautiful sight." He whispered.

Pretty amazing huh?" Dr. Hunter grinned.

"Is my baby okay?" She asked.

"Everything is just fine." Dr. Hunter smiled. "Would you like a picture?"

"Would I!" Gwen exclaimed. Dr. Hunter laughed.

"I'll take that as a yes."

Gwen turned to Ethan. "It's real now." She cied. "Our baby..." She was too emotional to say another word.

"I know exactly how you feel." Ethan replied softly as he brushed the tears away from her eyes.

After the doctor's appointment Ethan took Gwen home. She was still on cloud nine after seeing the baby for the first time.

"It's amazing." She gushed. "I have a little human growing inside of me."

Ethan stared at ehe pitures and shook his head in wonder.

"Wow." He chuckled. "I'm actually going to be a dad."

"Ethan I want to thank you for being there." Gwen replied. "Although we are not together any more, thank you for being there for the baby."

"I wouldn't be any where else." He smiled. "Are you hungry?" He asked. "I can make something for you to eat."

"No thanks, I can make something later."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

"Gwen thank you for allowing me to be here for you."

"Etha I meant what I said, I want you to be a part of our child's life."

"Just not part of yours."

"Ethan..."

"Okay I'll drop the subject."

"It's pretty late."

"Okay I'll leave."

She walked him to the door.

"Goodbye Ethan."

"Bye."

Gwen opened the door, standing on the other side was Colyer Fox...

"Colyer!" Gwen gasped. "What are you doing here?!"

Colyer looked at Gwen then at Ethan then back to Gwen.

"Pardon me, did I come at a bad time?" He asked.
