Chapter 25

"Ethan Winthrop's office." Cheryl, Ethan's receptionist greeted. "How can I help you?"

Ethan smiled as he heard his name rolled off her tongue. His law practice had been opened for a month and already he was swamped!

"This is for us." He said tenderly as he caressed the silver picture frames that held his favorite photo of Gwen and the other the photo of their unborn child.

He laced his fingers together behind his head and proped his feet on the window sill of his corner office. He glanced out at the yachts and sailboats in the harbor and smiled.

"One day, I will take you sailing." He vowed. He closed his eyes...

"Mommy, can Daddy go faster?" Both Ethan and Gwen glanced into their five year old daughter's wide chocolate eyes.

"Yeah, please mommy?" Their three year old son chimed in.

Gwen looked at her husband and smiled.

"Well I don't know." She said. "The last time daddy went faster you got sick all over your clothes and your brother cried all the way home."

Five year old Samantha Bennett Winthrop brushed her reddish blond hair out of her eyes and thought for a moment.

"I promise to be nicer to Jonathan and to eat all my veg'bles and not beat up that cry baby Ethan Martin."

"Ethan Martin is a poo-poo head." Jonathan snickered.

"Jonathan nice little boys don't say poo poo head." Gwen scolded.

Samantha and Jonathan looked at each other and giggled.

"Samantha quit teaching your brother such words."

"It's not my fault he can't kick a ball." She pouted. She crossed her little arms across her chest. "He is a poo poo head."

Gwen rolled her eyes and sighed.

"He might be one but it is not nice to call him that." Ethan interjected. "You wouldn't want any one to call you or your little brother names now would you?"

"NO!" She exclaimed. She balled her hands in to tiny fists. "And if they do I will beat them up!" She vowed.

Ethan couldn't help but laugh, she was a younger version of Gwen. Gwen must have seen it too because a wide smile spread across her face...

"Mr. Winthrop? Mr. Winthrop?"

"Huh? What?" Ethan woke up from his dream and stared sheepishly at his secretary. "Yes Sarah?" He answered.

"I'm sorry to interrupt you sir but your two o'clock is here."

"Thank you Sarah please show them in." He stood up and straightened his tie.

Theresa sat at the bar of City Lights and sipped on her Cosmopolitan as she scoped out the men that past by.

"Hey Baby, are you looking for someone?"

Theresa turned and looked at the man sitting on her right...

He was the splitting imagine of...

"Ethan?" She gasped. "Are looking for me?"

The man looked at her strangely and shook his head.

"Uh...uh I can be Ethan if you want me to be." He hinted.

Theresa smiled. "It just that...never mind, what is YOUR name?"

"Christopher, Christopher..."

Theresa laughed. "You don't have to think up a fake name." She said. "Christopher is good enough."

Christopher laughed to cover up his embarrassment.

"My name is Theresa." She said.

"Nice to meet you Theresa." He greeted.

"Nice to meet you too." She grinned.

"So Theresa are you looking for someone?" He repeated.

Theresa tossed her long locks over her shoulders and smiled coyly...

"NOT anymore." She purred seductively.

Sheridan couldn't stop laughing as she helped Gwen packed for her trip.

"Geez Sheridan it's not that funny." Gwen said hotly. "I can't stand the man."

"I'm sorry." She said between giggles. "But I think it's so funny how things turned out. Here you are about to go to Mexico with the man you claim you can't stand."

"But I can't stand him." Gwen protested. "He-he made ME the other woman." She fumed.

"Has it ever occur to you that he saw something in you that he didn't see in his bride-to-be?"

"It doesn't matter, he is an engaged man, therefore he is not available."

"Relax Gwen, You're not Theresa."

"Damn skippy I'm not." Gwen agreed. "I have scruples."

"Let me ask you one question...if Colyer was available will you be interested?"

Gwen shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know." She answered truthfully. "I really dont have the time and energy to focus on a relationship, I have to use all of my concentration on my baby."

"Maybe I should go with you." Ethan suggested after Gwen told him about the business trip. "To make sure that you take care of yourself." He added quickly.

"No." Gwen replied. "I am not sick, I am just having a baby. I can take care of myself just fine, thank you."

Ethan ran his fingers through his hair in frustration.

"But Colyer..."

"I can deal with Mr. Fox." She stated firmly. "I don't need you to rescue me. You are not my hero."

"Look Gwen I am sorry about that okay? How many times must I apologize for that?"

"Every time you think about it." She retorted.

"Will you at least call me once a day so I won't worry about you?" He asked changing the subject.

"Ethan stop it!" She cried. "You're driving me crazy!"

"Gwen I can't help it if I worry about you and the baby." He explained. "I care about what happens to the two of you."

"Ethan please don't worry." Gwen assured him. "We will be just fine.

Theresa smiled at the sleeping man as she brushed her hair and reapplied her make up.

"Ethan is in for a big surprise." She laughed wickedly to herself. "Gwen you lose, Ethan belongs to me."

"Thanks for a very good time."

Hugs and Kisses,
Theresa

P.S. I would love a repeat performance....

She wrote on the mirror in red lipstick before she quietly slipped out of the seedy hotel room and in to the night...
