Wait For Me; Chapter 13 (Evian)
by ejcrane

“JULIAN!” Eve sat up on her couch in her office.

She blinked her eyes trying to remember where she was at. Her office; she was in her office, but what did she just dream? It was like a series of dreams; one after the other.

“Julian, I have to talk to Julian,” Eve stood and ran to the phone.

She hadn’t spoken to Julian since he had left to Europe a few days ago.

Eve sat at her desk and pulled open the drawer to pull out a piece of paper with Julian’s hotel and number where he could be reached. She dialed the number…

“Hello-o-o?” a woman answered.

Eve’s brows narrowed.

“I’m sorry, I must have the wrong number…I was trying to get a hold of Julian Crane,” Eve explained, “I’ll try the front desk…” she said as she was about to hang up.

“No, no, one moment please,” the woman said, “Julian, there is a call for you.”

Eve sat up straight. What the hell was going on here?!

“Hello?” Julian said, not knowing who would be calling him in Europe.

“Julian, hi, how are you?”

“Eve,” he gasped, “I’m good, good, how are you?” he covered the mouthpiece of the phone, “No, dear, grab a fifty out of my wallet over there on the nightstand,” he whispered to his guest.

“Julian, who’s that?” Eve demanded.

“Uh, just a friend…and how’s everything in Harmony?” he covered the mouthpiece again, “Dear, please, let me…last night you treated me…”

“A friend, hmm?” Eve licked her bottom lip, “Well, I’ll just let you get back to work, bye Julian,” she said before she hung up the phone.
---

Julian was coming home and arrived at the airport. Eve was going to surprise him and was now waiting for him at the airport. She could hear Julian’s laughter and wondered who or what he was laughing at, until she saw him accompanied with a beautiful middle-aged petite Asian woman.

Oh my God, she’s the one from my dream…

Eve stared at the couple as they walked passed her to the limo. Julian hadn’t even seen Eve; his eyes were on Su-yun the whole time.

“Julian!” Eve shouted from behind.

He stopped and turned around to find Eve smiling back at him.

“Eve?” he said to himself.

Su-yun turned and watched as Julian walked to Eve.

“Eve? What are you doing here? Is there a problem with Chad or Miles?” he asked concerned.

“Uh, no, I just wanted to see you when you arrived,” she stuttered.

“Oh, well,” Julian paused, “That was nice of you, Eve,” he said, quite surprised that she was even there.

He turned back to his guest.

“Ohh,” he sucked in a breath, embarrassed, “I forgot to introduce you to…” he waved for Su-yun to come over, “Eve this is Su-yun; Su-yun this is Eve…a good friend.”

Friend?! Did Julian just introduce her as a friend to this “Su-yun” person?

“It’s nice to meet you,” Su-yun stuck out her hand and smiled.

“Likewise,” Eve said, as she looked this woman up and down and finally took her hand to shake it.

The three just stared at each other for a minute, until Julian broke the silence.

“Well, Su and I were about to go get something to eat at the Seascape; care to join us, Eve? That flight was just too exhausting,” he looked to Su, and they laughed together.

“Seascape?” Eve repeated surprised that Julian was taking out this woman to the best restaurant in Harmony, “Um, you know, I think I’ll decline; I’m due at the hospital,” she put on a fake smile.

“Ah, that’s too bad,” Su looked to Julian and laughed; she then looked back at Eve, “Julian has been teaching me the many sayings the people here in America say,” she smiled.

“That’s nice,” Eve said, and then looked to Julian, “Well, I’m glad you’re back; I guess I’ll go,” she turned around and walked back to her car.

After Julian and Su-yun had dinner, he escorted her to the Crane hotel and put her up in one of the nicest suites. His next stop was the hospital.

“May I come in?” he knocked on Eve’s office door.

“Sure, why not,” she said, snippily.

His brows wrinkled.

“Is something the matter, Eve?”

“No, why would there be?” she said as her back was to him.

And when Eve turned around, she found herself pulled into his arms and kissed hungrily by Julian…the man she loved.

“I’ve missed you, you know that, right?” Julian whispered into her opened mouth.

“You have?” she hugged him.

“Yes, darling.”

Julian pulled from her and led her to the couch and sat down, pulling her down beside him.

“So, how’s everyone?”

“Everyone’s good,” Eve nodded, “And you?”

“I think we went through this already, haven’t we,” he laughed.

Eve joined in the laughter with Julian, but stopped when he added something else…

“You know, Su and I were talking about the craziest thing the other day…”

Eve repositioned herself on the couch. She began to feel uncomfortable. Why did Julian have to start bring up her name?

Julian noticed Eve’s uneasiness.

“Eve? Is something wrong?”

Eve stood and shrugged her shoulder.

“No, nothing’s wrong.”

Julian stood and walked up behind Eve. He turned her around to him and just as he was about to lean in to kiss her, his cell phone rang.

“Uh, sorry,” he smiled as he answered it, “Su-yun, what is it? Slow down…calm down,” he turned his back to Eve.

Eve walked around him and saw the concern in Julian’s eyes.

“I’m on my way,” he said and hung up the phone, “Eve, I have to go, I’ll talk to you later,” he kissed the side of her head and left her office.

Eve followed after Julian, and watched as he got into his car. She rushed to hers, got in, and followed him. Julian had no idea he was being followed. His mind was focused on Su’s call…her voice. She had been frightened. He pulled up outside of the Crane hotel and got off. Eve pulled up some cars behind him and got off and followed Julian into the hotel. She stayed some distance behind and watched as he got on the elevator. As the doors closed she walked and stood in front of it, watching the lights to see which floor they would stop on. It was the third floor. Eve ran to the stairs and opened the door and ran up as fast as she could, taking two…three at a time. Panting as she finally reached the third floor, she saw the door to one room opened and watched as Julian ran inside. Eve caught her breath and ran after Julian, but stopped in the doorway as she watched him pull Su-yun into his arms.

“It’s okay, it’s okay, I’m here,” he soothed her cries as he ran his hand over her straight black shoulder length silky hair, “What happened here, officers?”

“Julian…Julian,” she panted, “There was a man, an old man…and he threatened me; he said that if I didn’t get out of town, that he’d kill me. He then began to say some racist remarks to me…ohh, Julian, I was so scared,” she held onto him.

Eve glared from the doorway. She rolled her eyes. Couldn’t this “Su” have put on a robe, instead of strutting around in that silk spaghetti knee length gown? Julian’s hands caressed her back.

“Don’t worry, we’ll catch this person,” he kissed her forehead, and then turned back to the officer, “I want to see the surveillance video of the hallways…and as soon as you find the perpetrator, I want him arrested!” he demanded, “Dear, I think it’d be best if you come stay at the mansion for the rest of your time here, okay?” his thumb stroked her cheek.

“I don’t want to impose…”

“No, I insist…” he smiled as she began to nod.

Eve turned the corner and leaned back against the wall as she sunk to the floor. Su-yun was moving into the mansion with Julian?!
