Wait For Me; Chapter 16 (Evian)
by ejcrane

“Mr. Crane,” a maid whispered as she knocked on Julian’s bedroom door.

Julian was again on top of Eve in between her thighs moving slowly within her, when he heard Millie. He never stopped what he was doing when he answered.

“YESSSSS!” he yelled from inside as he continued to move his hips forward.

“Dr. Russell has a phone call…”

“Take a message; Dr. Russell is busy,” he said as he began kissing Eve’s neck.

“It’s an emergency, Mr. Crane! Dr. Russell’s husband is in the hospital in critical condition; he had an accident!” Millie yelled from the other side of the door.

Just hearing that, Eve pushed Julian off of her and wrapped a sheet around her nude body. She ran to the door and opened it to the maid.

“What’s happened?!” Eve said frantically.

Julian blinked. Was this happening? Was this really happening? He stared at Eve’s face while she got the info from the maid. She was concerned. He understood.

“I’ll drive you to the hospital, Eve. I don’t want you to drive in this weather; especially since you’re in this state.”

She simply nodded and watched as Millie left the room so they could change. Ten minutes later Eve and Julian were walking down the stairs and walking out the door and ran to his car in the pouring rain. Eve didn’t say anything to Julian as they drove. She was just too busy worrying about her ex-husband.

“He’ll be okay, Eve,” Julian said.

She looked over at him and smiled, but it soon faded as she went back to worrying.

Finally Julian arrived at the hospital and before he could even put the car into “park” Eve jumped out and ran inside. He then put the car into “park” and turned it off and ran inside after Eve.

“Excuse me, where did Dr. Russell go?” he asked a nurse.

“I believe she went in that direction,” she pointed, “Her husband was in room three twelve,” she smiled and walked away from Julian.

“Husband”?! Julian could not stand that everyone referred to Tc as Eve’s husband. He was not her husband…especially with the way he treated her and divorced her!

Julian found Tc’s room and stopped just outside. He watched as Eve leaned over an unconscious Tc and place kisses upon his face. Again, Julian understood. Eve and Tc had been together for more than twenty years. The door was slightly ajar and Julian pushed it open a bit further. He regretted that he ever did that, for he heard something he had never wanted, nor expected to hear from Eve’s lips.

“Oh, Tc,” she cried as she kissed his cheek, “You have to be alright; you have to stay with us…with me!” she pleaded, “I almost lost you in the tsunami; I can’t lose you…I can’t lose you! Our daughters need you…I love you,” she cried and rested her head on his chest.

A tear made its way down Julian’s cheek as he stepped back, turned around, left the hospital…and Eve…
---

It had been a week and Tc was still in a coma, and Eve had never left his side.

Julian went on with his work as he had in the past when he learned that Eve chose to be with Tc. Su-yun felt for him and tried to comfort him, assuring him that Eve would be back soon, but he refused to hear any of what she said, for he did not believe a word. He thought his and Eve’s love was stronger than anything, but hearing her heart wrenching cries for her ex-husband made Julian realize where Eve’s heart really was, and it wasn’t with him.
---

A month passed and Tc’s condition didn’t change, and Eve’s position never changed. She stuck by him.

Julian and Su-yun became closer in their relationship. When he realized that he couldn’t lean on Eve, he and Su leaned on each other.

It wasn’t until three weeks of Tc being in the hospital that Eve realized how she abandoned Julian. She ran into the Seascape to pick up some takeout, when she spotted Julian and Su having dinner. It had been Julian’s birthday and Eve watched as Su gave him a tiny box. Julian opened it and smiled. Eve smiled; he looked so happy to her. Her smile faded. Julian had leaned over and kissed Su on the lips. Eve soon left. She misinterpreted Julian’s affection. Su-yun was just a good friend; a good friend that stuck by him in his time of need.
---

Su couldn’t take it anymore. She was tired of seeing Julian feeling sad and heartbroken, so she decided to confront Eve. She left the mansion late one night and drove to the hospital. Su-yun took the elevator to the floor in which Tc was on. She stepped off and walked to his room. There was light underneath the door so she assumed it would be okay to just walk in, but what a mistake that was. She found Tc up and walking around pacing with the phone in his hand.

“Yeah, I did what you said…” he didn’t finish as he met eyes with Su.

She gasped.

“I thought you were supposed to be in a coma!” her eyes widened as Tc leaped for her.

She was too in shock to react, and so Tc brought the phone and rammed it into the side of her head. Soon Su was lying unconscious on the floor. Tc bent over and looked for a pulse, but didn’t find one. He threw the phone onto the bed and then bent down again and grabbed Su’s arms. Tc opened the door to his room, peeked out, and when no one was in sight, he dragged her body to a supply closet and then returned back to his room and lied back down in his “comatose” position.
---

Early the next morning, Eve woke up and drove to the hospital as she always had. As she walked to Tc’s room, she passed a nurse, who was on her way to the supply room, and just as she had her hand on the doorknob, the nurse screamed! Eve turned around to see what she had screamed at, when she saw Su-yun! Eve rushed over to her body. Su began to move; her eyes began to flutter, and she was groaning out in pain. How did Su get here?! Eve tried to help her up, but Su looked to her as if she didn’t know who she was…

After Su had gotten settled in a room, Eve informed Julian, and he rushed over to the hospital. That morning he had woken up to little Mei’s tugging hands on his pajama top. Her mother hadn’t slept with her, and that’s when Julian began worrying. She never answered her cell phone, and now Julian knew why.

He arrived at the hospital and didn’t even look to Eve when she came to tell him about Su.

“Julian!” she sighed, “Su’s in room three twenty…”

“Thank you, Eve,” he said and walked passed her.

Julian made his way into Su’s room and pulled her into an embrace. Eve watched from the door and looked away. Julian had really come to care for this woman. Why? Why?! Why couldn’t he have waited for her? Eve left and found herself in Tc’s room…a place she felt she was needed…
---

Su pulled from Julian’s arms and stared back at him with fear in her eyes.

“Who are you?” she asked.

Julian stared back at her.

“You don’t know who I am?” he looked concerned.

“Am I supposed to?” she looked around, “Where am I?”

“You’re in Harmony, at the hospital…and I’m Julian…I’m your…”

“My husband?” she guessed, “Are you my husband?”

“I…I…” Julian was speechless.

“I’m sorry that I don’t remember you, Julian. Please, just please give me some time,” she pleaded, “I know that in time I’ll come to know you, maybe even remember you…” she paused, “Oh God, do we have children? Please tell them that their mother is okay; she’s just not herself, but she’ll be okay…will you?” she began crying.

Julian didn’t know what to say. His good friend had amnesia. What in the world happened to her?! He didn’t know what to tell her.

Julian then nodded and pulled her into an embrace once more and caressed her back…
---

Su was brought home to the mansion two days later. Mei was overjoyed seeing her mother, but was saddened at how her mother didn’t recognize her, but Julian was there for her; for both of them.

When Julian escorted her upstairs to her room, the phone in his bedroom was ringing, so he stopped.

“I’ll be right back, the phone is ringing in my room, dear,” he turned from her and walked into his room.

She stared out in front of her in confusion. His room? They didn’t share a room?

Su pushed the door open and stepped into Julian’s room to find him sitting on the edge of the bed. He looked up and smiled at her as he held a finger out to her. She nodded and investigated the room in maybe finding something that would trigger her memory. She then sat on the other side of the bed. On the nightstand was a diamond ring. Su then looked to her left hand and realized that she didn’t have a wedding ring on, so she assumed that that ring was her wedding ring. Why it was off her finger she didn’t know, but she was not going to let it stay off her finger and have it get lost, so Su slipped on the diamond ring onto her ring finger on her left hand. What she didn’t know, was that that ring had been Eve’s engagement ring. It had been there the whole time after she had left Julian that night.

Julian hung up and turned around to look at Su.

“Well, shall I show you to your room?” he smiled.

“My room?” her brows narrowed, “We’re married and we don’t share a room?”

Julian’s eyes widened, as he took in what Su had asked.

“Uh, well…yeah, we do,” he smiled, “I just wasn’t sure if you were comfortable being with me, since you don’t remember us…I just wanted you to be comfortable.”

She looked around and smiled.

“I feel comfortable,” she nodded, “Even though I don’t remember this room, it looks cozy.”

He smiled kindly towards her. When was he going to tell her the truth? When was he going to stop with this charade?

“If it’s alright, do you mind if I take a nap? I’m feeling very tired,” she yawned.

“Yes, yes, dear,” he got up and walked to the other side of the bed and pulled back the covers.

“Thank you so much!” she said gratefully.

“You don’t have to thank me,” he pulled the covers over her legs.

Just as Julian was about to leave, she sat up and grabbed his hand. He looked to her.

“I’m sorry,” she looked down.

“Sorry? For what, Su?” Julian raised her chin.

“For not remembering you or our daughter,” she began to cry.

“Shhh, it’s not your fault,” he pulled her into a hug, “I’m going to find out what exactly happened to you, you hear?” Julian pulled from her and looked into her eyes.

She nodded and smiled. She then did something that Julian didn’t see coming. Su-yun leaned forward and met his lips with hers. Julian hadn’t felt affection from a woman in so long, and Su’s lips were so soft, so full, and so warm. His arms wrapped around her as he continued to kiss her.

“Julian, I heard that…” Eve knocked on the door and found the man she loved in the arms of another woman; kissing…

“Eve,” Julian gasped at a glaring Eve.

“Doctor? It was nice of you to drop by, but I’m feeling fine,” Su looked to Julian and smiled, “I’m sure the memories of my husband and daughter will come to me soon,” Su caressed Julian’s face.

HUSBAND?!

“Honey,” Julian placed a hand on top of hers, “Why don’t you get some rest while I talk to the doctor?” he kissed her hand and then tucked her in, and got up.

HONEY?! WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE?!

Julian opened the door and walked out first. Eve turned and followed him out, but when she turned back towards the room to shut the door behind her, she saw something sparkly on Su’s finger. Eve’s eyes bugged out of its sockets! That was HER engagement ring that Su-yun had on! How the hell did she get it?! And why was she wearing it?!
