Wait For Me; Chapter 17 (Evian)

“Julian, WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?!” Eve hissed.

He looked at her in confusion.

“Eve, what are you doing here?”

“What am I doing here? What am I doing here?!” she said and then pondered that thought herself, “I-uh…,” she paused, “Well, what is Su-yun over there doing kissing you…and why the hell does she have my…MY engagement ring on!”

“What? What are you talking about? She doesn’t have your ring,” he shook his head, “And we weren’t kissing; it was a simple peck…”

“Simple peck, my a…”

“Eve, she thinks we’re married!”

“Married?! And why would she think that?! Why haven’t you told her the truth?”

“Truth? What truth?!” he raised his voice.

“You know what I’m talking about; why haven’t you told her that you two aren’t married and that we are engaged?”

“Us,” Julian pointed his finger to her and then to him, “Engaged? If I remember clearly, I remembering you going back to Tc and breaking off our engagement, Eve darling,” he raised a brow, “And as for me telling her the truth; I’ll tell her when the time is right. But what about you, Eve? You seemed awfully cozy with Tc…”

“Julian, you know he was in an accident…we have a past together…”

“Yes, I know that and maybe it’s just not the past that you two have together…maybe you two share a future together,” he said as he was about to walk away, but Eve pulled him back.

“My future is with you,” she grabbed his face, “My future is with you,” she whispered as their lips were a breath’s space apart.

Eve then leaned forward and their lips meshed together. Julian backed her up against the wall. He knew that wasn’t true, but he just wanted to feel Eve in his arms again. Julian knew that as long as Tc was hurt and needed her, Eve would stay by his side, and Julian just couldn’t wait anymore…he was just too tired.

His hand moved from her waist to just below her breast. They were too lost in one another that they didn’t notice Su step out of the bedroom.

“Julian?” her voice cracked, “How could you? How could you,” she shook her head.

Julian and Eve pulled apart.

“Su…wait!” he walked towards her, but she backed up and locked herself into the bedroom.

Su leaned back against the door and searched the room. Her eyes moved across the room. What was happening? Why was her husband kissing that other woman? Were she and Julian having problems before her accident, and that’s why he strayed away from their marriage? She didn’t know the answers, and felt so lost. Su sunk to the floor and hugged her knees.

“Su-yun, please open the door,” Julian begged.

He could hear her sobs. He closed his eyes in anguish; knowing that he should’ve just told her the truth from the beginning. His ears perked up as he heard rustling noises come from inside the room. What was Su doing? Julian backed away from the door and ran to an end table down the hallway. He opened up the drawer and pulled out a set of keys. Julian then walked back over to his door and placed the key into the lock and unlocked the door. He walked in and found Su searching through the drawers.

“Su, what are you doing?” he grabbed her hands.

“Don’t touch me!” she pulled from him, “I guess I won’t be needing this,” she reached for the ring and threw it at him, “Why, Julian? Why?! Why didn’t you tell me that we were having problems?” she began crying once more.

“Su…” Julian tried to comfort her, but she backed away again.

Her eyes went to his and then traveled to the doorway. Eve was standing there, looking back at her.

“Why can’t I remember anything? Why can’t I remember our baby? Why can’t I remember you loving me?” she raised her hands to her face and sobbed.

She turned her back to him, and Julian walked around her and pulled her hands from her face. He looked over at Eve over Su’s shoulder and then looked back down at Su. Julian then pulled her into his arms and held her. Eve’s heart broke. No, maybe he was just comforting her before he broke the news to her. Eve stared on, in hope that she was right and that Julian was going to tell Su the truth.

“I’ll go,” Su whispered, “I’ll go if you want to be with her…just tell me,” she held onto the only person she had come to know in these past few days; the only person she felt comfortable around.

Hearing those words, Julian looked over at Eve again, and that’s when he realized what he had to do.

“No,” he whispered and shook his head.

Back in France, Su-yun had been there for him. He had told her all about Eve and how she kept turning her back on him and their love. They had become close and now Julian was going to be there for her. He was not going to abandon her at a time like this, not after all they had been through together.

Eve’s breathing increased; a tear fell from her eye.

“No,” Julian said, “You’re my wife, and I want us to be…together,” he said as he cut his eyes off from Eve’s and pulled away from Su to look into her eyes.

She smiled and hugged Julian to her. He then watched as Eve stepped back and ran out.

I’m sorry, Eve…I’m sorry, but you’re never going to cut your ties from Tc. The bond you two share is just too strong for us to overcome; and I can’t turn my back on Su-yun, especially now, in her time of need.

His mind then went back to some time ago, when he and Eve were in her office. They had just kissed, but Eve broke it off, saying that she couldn’t and wouldn’t betray Tc. She had also mentioned the bond Tc and she had shared. A special something, and she couldn’t explain it…

Julian combed his hand through her hair. He then kissed the side of her head and hugged her tighter to him.

“Why don’t we take that nap, dear?” he led her to the bed and pulled back the covers for her.

Su got in and laid her head on the pillow as Julian covered her. He then walked around the bed and laid behind her. He stroked her hair as she drifted off to sleep.

Thank God, that Rebecca is not here. She would not have allowed this…not in a million years…

Soon, Julian drifted off to sleep with his arms wrapped around his wife.
