Chapter 3

Pilar couldn't remember a time she had been so happy. She was able to spend most her time at home now, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. It had been a very tough year. First, Luis and Antonio were married to Beth and Sheridan. They lived rather happily, but Antonio seemd to continue to get worse, even when Sheridan announced she was pregnant. When it seemed that Antonio was nearing the end, Theresa sent for a specialist from London to try to help extend his life. What he found was shocking to everyone. Antonio had been misdiagnosed. His illness wasn't life threatening at all. In fact, most of his symptoms were psychosomatic. He would have to be on medication for the rest of his life, but that was expected to be much longer. Luis and Sheridan tried to make their marriages work with their respective partners, but their love for each other could not be ignored, even by Beth and AN\ntonio. Both their marriages were dissolved without any hard feeling between any of the party involved. In fact, Beth and Antonio discovered an attraction to each other, were married soon after and moved to Bermuda with Mrs. Wallace in tow. Luis and Sheridan were free to renew their love, which they did slowly at first. They didn't want to make the mistakes that they had made in the past. They were married and Luis promised to stay with Sheridan, no matter whose child it was. Three months later, the twins, Cayden and Callie were born. They were Luis'.
 

Theresa built a large house for the family with many guest rooms, which turned out to be needed badly soon after. Kay annouced she was pregnant with Miguel's baby soon after Gwen and Ethan's wedding, which put an abrupt halt on Charity's and Miguel's wedding plans. Charity and Miguel decided that it was best for them to break it off for the time being and Charity moved away from Harmony with Grace, Sam and Jessica. They had discovered Ivy's plan to break them up and decided it was time to leave Harmony behind. Kay opted to stay back and moved in with Miguel's family so that he could be a constant part of his child's life. They considered getting married at first, but Migual felt he could never trully trust Kay and so she settled for living under the same roof as him. Their son, Brandon Michael, was born a few weeks before the twins.

On this particular day, Lil Ethan was visiting his cousins and Pilar, Sheridan and Kay's hands were full playing wrangler with all the babies, but Pilar was loving every minute of it. Her family was doing so well. Theresa was well taken care of at the Crane mansion, Antonio and Beth had called that morning to announce that they were expecting their first, and both Luis and Miguel had very lucritive jobs at Crane Industries thanks to Theresa. She felt like nothing in the world could go wrong.

After putting most of the babies down for a nap, Sheridan and Kay dropped on the couch with exhausted smiles on their faces. Pilar hurried to the kitchen to fix them some lunch. She laughed and danced while she was gathering food to make her special enchaladas when the phone rang. She grabbed the phone, expecting it to be Antonio, with a smile on her face. It quickly disappeared when she heard the deep sultry voice on the other end.
"Hello Pilar."
