Back in Time, Chapter 12
  by ejcrane

Eve arrived at the Blue Note after she left Julian back at the hotel.
UGH, she hated him! She hated herself for giving into him again. It had
been so many years since the last time that they…they…
Eve stopped just outside of the Blue Note and closed her eyes as the memory
of Julian’s body pressed against hers flashed into her head.

She shook her head and opened up the front door to the club and stepped
 in…

   “Tj! Sorry, that I’m late…”

Eve stopped just as she heard a familiar man’s voice behind her out in
the parking lot. It was two Tc’s. One was older and the other younger. What
were they do—ing…

Just then, young Eve ran across the parking lot crying and ran into the
club bumping Eve along the way, not bothering to apologize. Eve looked back
 outside…

“I wonder what was the matter with that girl, did you see her crying?”
the younger Tc asked his “distant relative”.

“I wonder too,” Tc lied, “You know, that’s why I asked you here. You see,
I’m not allowed in this club because of…of…my age, yeah, my age,” he paused,
“And I’ve noticed how that woman’s boyfriend treats her, and I just wanted
to know how she was. That’s why I brought you here with me; I was thinking
you could talk to her. She’d probably feel more comfortable with you, since
you’re around her age. What do you say?” he asked as he whipped out one-hundred
 dollars.

“It wouldn’t hurt to talk to that poor girl,” the young Tc said sincerely
and took the money from his cousin, “I’ll be back…”

Eve squinted her eyes. Did she just witness Tc giving the other Tc money
 to talk to her? Why?!

“Oh, sorry, Miss…” Young Tc apologized to Eve after he bumped into her.

He was then on his way, and found young Eve sitting at the bar crying
her eyes out.

Julian had just gotten there, having some strange feeling that he’d find
Eve there. He got out of the mustang and began walking to the door when he
watched a limo pull up. It was his young cheating self.

Eve rolled her eyes and went into hiding when she watched that lying cheating
coward along with his older self enter the club.

“Hey, wait a minute there…” Julian slapped a hand on young Julian’s shoulder
 from behind.

“Excuse you,” Young Julian shrugged the hand off of him, “Do you know
who I a…” he stopped talking when he came face to face with a man that looked
a lot like him, but older, “Who the hell are you? Leave me the hell alone,
 Old Man…”

Julian walked in, only to find Eve talking to this other guy their age…wait
a minute! That was TC RUSSELL! He was trying to take away the title of the
tennis champion from Julian, but that didn’t matter at the moment, HE WAS
TALKING TO EVE was what mattered!

Eve then looked towards the door and met Julian’s eyes. She then did something
that she knew was going to be a mistake, only because she didn’t want to
hurt or lead this nice young gentleman on, but she pulled Tc into a long and
hot kiss, and never thought she’d feel a rush coming over her when she pulled
from him.

She glanced back over to the doorway and read Julian’s face. His eyes
said it all…

He had lost her…lost her for good. Julian took in a breath, looked down,
then took one last look at Eve before he turned around and left The Blue
Note…

Julian stood behind his younger self and watched the whole thing, while
Eve peeked out and saw it too.

GOOD! That’s exactly what Julian deserved!

Eve was totally caught off guard when she watched Julian grab a hold of
young Julian and shove him up against the wall…so was young Julian.

   “Hey, man!” he struggled.

“Where the hell do you think you’re going?” Julian gritted through his
teeth.

“Going?! That’s none of your damn concern! Now let me loose or I shall
have you arrested…” he was unable to finish his sentence since Julian slapped
him across the face.

What was Julian doing?! Eve peeked more around the corner and watched
closely.

“You are NOT going anywhere, but back into that club and asking Eve to
forgive you, DAMNIT!”

   The young man looked confused…

   “How—how do you know Eve?”

   Julian loosened his grip.

“I can’t go back in there,” he sighed and looked down, “Eve’ll never forgive
 me for what I’ve done…”

“How do you know if you haven’t asked her; if you haven’t begged her to?”

“Even if she did forgive me,” he shrugged, “It can’t be; you know, this
was probably a good thing that happened,” he stepped aside and looked back
at Eve and Tc through the door that was left open a crack, “My damn father,
 I can’t go against him…not if I want to lose my inheritance…”

Julian was now furious! He grabbed young Julian from behind and shoved
him up against the wall.

“Look! You listen to me, and you listen to me good!” he pointed his finger
in his face, “You go in there and you beg Eve for forgiveness! You go in
there and you tell her that you screwed up, and that it’s the last time, because
you are going to give up everything for her…you’re going to give up the Crane
money and stand up to your father. You go in there and you ask her…NO, you
BEG her to marry you because there is no other woman that has made you as
happy as she does and there is no other woman that you have loved as much
as you love her!” Julian shouted.

Hidden around the corner, Eve was taken aback! Did she just hear Julian
 say those things?

“Don’t worry…” Julian sniffed as tears began to brim in his eyes, “I know
you worry about not having money and not being able to get by,” he swallowed,
“But none of those things really mean anything. Believe me; I know what I’m
talking about. As long as you and Eve love each other…that’s all you’ll need.
Please, listen to me,” he placed his hands on young Julian’s shoulders and
spoke softly, “I swear you won’t regret giving up everything for this woman…you
won’t. Be strong…now go…go, before it’s too late,” he pointed towards the
 opened door.

Young Julian looked down. He seemed to be thinking about what this man
had told him. Should he do it and give up everything…everything that ever
mattered to him his whole life? YES! Yes, he should, and he would because
nothing compared to Eve when he first laid eyes on her…when he first felt
her, touched, kissed, and made love to her…

He stepped away from Julian and began making his way towards the door
when the older man called out to him…

“Don’t forget this,” Julian said just as he tossed the velvety box to
young Julian.

He opened the box and smiled. It was his grandmother’s wedding ring.

“Hey, where did you get this?”

   “Just go…”

Young Julian smiled and nodded and turned and walked into the club.

“Julian, I DON’T WANT TO TALK TO YOU!” Eve yelled.

“Eve…Eve please,” he pleaded and grabbed onto her legs from behind.

She turned around and found Julian on his knees.

“Julian! What are you doing down there?! Get out of here, I don’t want
to ever see you agai…”

“Marry me, Eve! Marry me…and make me the happiest man alive. I’m so sorry,
Eve,” he sniffed, “I’m so damn sorry for being such a bastard…I never meant
to hurt you like that. Please, darling, please forgive me. I swear to you
that I’ll never hurt you again…please…”

Eve looked down and stared into his eyes. She could see the regret and
love there. Her eyes then traveled to Tc’s who had just came out of the restroom.

What should she do? Stay with Tc and try and make something of their beginning
friendship? Or take the chance with Julian…the man who had hurt her deeply.

“Julian,” she began shaking her head, “I don’t know…”

“Yes, you do, Eve…yes you do,” he stood and pulled her into a kiss.

She could feel his warm tears on her cheeks after he pulled from her and
 rested his forehead against hers.

“Let’s make each other happy, Eve…please,” he cupped her chin in his hands
 and kissed her cheek.

“Oh, Julian,” she began crying, “Yes, yes,” she sobbed and wrapped her
arms around him, “I love you; I want to marry you,” she said and kissed him.

Back in the front entrance, Julian smiled and laughed! FINALLY he did
something right!

“YES! YES!” he laughed and turned to leave, but came face to face with
Eve, “Eve…I was just about to look for you…”

She never let him finish and ran out of the Blue Note and took off into
 the night, crying.

“EVE!” Julian screamed after her, “EVE…”
