~A Beautiful Mess~ Chapter 12 (Kaguel, Evian, Chadresa)
by Faith81
Jessica Bennett was about to knock on Miguel’s front door when she saw
a figure walk into the room. Peering through the window she saw Kay yawning
as she walked toward Miguel drying her hair with a towel.
“Feel better?” Miguel questioned staring at her as the water dripped
from her hair. He looked at her, without makeup and smiled. She held natural
beauty, the kind that couldn’t be bought in a bottle. Kay was stunning
just being herself, and he found himself becoming more attached to her
everyday.
“Showers always make me sleepy.” She laughed lightly. “Or maybe it
was the long day we’ve had.”
“I think it was the long day.” Miguel smiled. “We haven’t had that
much fun in a long time.”
She nodded her head, her blue eyes catching his smile. “I’ve missed
it Miggs, the way things were. Us playing in the snow, goofing off and
being ourselves, it felt good.”
Miguel reach out his hand to her, “I’ve missed us too Kay. I guess
I forgot just how much you mean to me. You’re my best friend, and I really
want you to be my wife. Not just because of our child, but because it feels
right.”
Kay felt tears in her eyes as she grasp on to his hand, smiling as
he pulled her closer. “I love you Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald, and I know you’re
not in love with me yet. I understand that it will take time, but I feel
like your coming back to me. I can see the guy I fell in love with, and
honestly I forgot who he was.”
Miguel lowered his head, pulling away from Kay, as he looked away.
“Mama said I changed totally. Why didn’t I see that? Was I so blinded by
my love for Charity that I didn’t see that I was loosing myself?”
Kay bit down on her lower lip. “Its not hard to loose yourself Miguel.
Trust me, its not hard at all. One day you can be a strong vibrate person,
and the next someone weak and lonely. It happens so quick, suddenly you
have no idea who you are, all you know is that you’ve found something you
want and you can’t live without it.” She spoke honestly her words spewing
before she could stop them.
“Kay.” Miguel frowned. “Are we still talking about me?”
Kay blinked twice forcing the thoughts of her misdeeds from her mind.
“Yeah, I guess. I mean I changed to Miguel, honestly I loved you and you
didn’t want me. I did things that I would have never done, like jumping
in the shower with you. I don’t know I guess I was talking about both of
us.” She shrugged. “Somewhere along the way we both lost a piece of ourselves.”
Miguel smirked. “You know, I forgot just how smart you can be Kay Bennett.
Brains and beauty, not to mention a great throwing arm, what more could
a man want?” He questioned.
“Someone who can cook?” She asked lifting a eyebrow. “Because until
your mother decides to let me in on her tricks, you may be eating microwave
meals for a very long time. “
Miguel shook his head. “Oh no I won’t.” He grinned. “I’ll be eating
here with Mama.”
“Because you’re a Mama’s boy?” Kay joked.
“No because I don’t want to starve. I’ve never been fond of microwave
dinners and I don’t plan to start liking them now.”
They both laughed joking like they had always done. It was so familiar
to both of them, and as Miguel watched Kay’s eyes twinkle he knew he was
in the right place. Any thought of Charity left his mind as he saw Kay
touch her stomach, a simple reminder of what they had created together.
“How does it feel?” Miguel suddenly questioned. “To be pregnant I mean?”
Kay beamed at the questioned. “Its strange, I mean I’m moody.” She
laughed lightly. “And the morning sickness is not fun, but to know I have
a life inside of me. Its unreal Miguel, knowing that I have this little
person right here.” She said touching her stomach. “Our little person.”
She whispered.
“Our beautiful child.” He agreed touching her stomach with his hand.
Jessica Bennett stood, tears steaming down her face as she watched Miguel
and Kay. “What have I done Kay?” She whimpered. “You were right all along,
Miguel does want you.”
Sobbing she shivered as she realized what had to be done. “We’ve wasted
time sis, and now I have to fix what I’ve done to us.” She spoke as she
slowly knocked on the wooden door.

Theresa stood staring at Ethan, her mouth opened wide. “Gwen left?”
She breathed. “No way.”
He nodded his head. “She left me Theresa, she left town and said she’s
not coming back.” He spoke. “Please, I need to talk to you.”
Chad crossed his arms, “Ethan, my wife and I were in the middle of
something.” He spoke his voice angered.
“Chad, please I need to talk to Theresa.”
“Its ok Chad.” Theresa spoke touching his arm. “It won’t take long.”
She sighed.
“Fine.” Chad frowned. “I’ll be in the study, I need to make a few phone
calls anyway.”
Theresa smiled. “We’ll talk later, I promise.” She spoke watching as
Chad walked out of the room. Turning to glare at Ethan she frowned. “Now
what do you want?”
Ethan dropped his head, “I had to see you. My life is falling apart
and I needed to see you, no one else.” He whispered.
”Am I supposed to feel privileged?” She questioned. “Because I don’t.”
“Resa, when Gwen left I thought I’d fall apart, but it didn’t hurt.”
Ethan admitted. “The only thing I thought of was getting here, to find
you.”
“Ethan, don’t.” Theresa spoke putting her hand out to stop him. “Don’t
start.”
“But its true.” He walked closer to her, but she stepped back her brown
eyes staring straight at him. “I have so much to tell you, and now I can
say it.”
“I don’t want to hear it.” She said shaking her head. “I don’t care
what you have to say, so you can save it.”
“But Resa.”
“Don’t Resa me Ethan. We’ve been through this, my life is with Chad
and my son now.” She stood firm, never budging as she put her hands firmly
on her hips. “I married Chad because I wanted to, and that hasn’t changed.”
“Theresa, I love you.” Ethan whispered. “I’ve always loved you, only
you.” He smiled again taking a step toward her.
“You’re a liar Ethan. “ She spoke her voice becoming louder. “You have
been trying to decide between Gwen and I for the longest. You never knew
who you wanted, because you wanted us both.”
“No Theresa, that’s not true.” Ethan argued. “Gwen asked me tonight
before she left, if I still had feelings for you. I had to admit that I
did. She slapped me and packed up and left.” He shrugged.
“Oh and you didn’t beg her to stay?” Theresa questioned. “Don’t lie
Ethan, we both know you tried to convince her she was the one you loved.”
“Of course I tried to convince her to stay, she’s having my child!”
Theresa rolled her eyes as she looked at him. He didn’t get it, he
still had no clue what love was. In his warped mind he saw nothing wrong
with any of the things he had done. “You’re telling me, that you tried
to convince Gwen to stay, and when she refused you decided to come here?”
Ethan thought for a moment, and then looked at Theresa and smiled.
“But you’re the one I want. Gwen’s gone now, don’t you see we can be together.”
Theresa felt anger rise up in her, before she could stop herself she
gripped her hand into a fist and hit Ethan in the jaw. “Gwen may slap,
but honey I was raised with boys and they taught me how to fight.” She
fumed. “Now get out of my room, and out of this house right now! What we
shared ended a long time ago Ethan. You never loved me, because you don’t
know how to love. I don’t want you, and I don’t need you. How dare you
come into my room and tell me that you want me. You didn’t want me when
Gwen announced she was pregnant, but now that she’s gone, you decide you
love me?”
“You hit me.” Ethan gasped.
”I’ll do more than that if you don’t get out of my room. I’m not anyone
man’s second choice Ethan. I deserve better than that! I can’t believe
I ever loved you, I can’t believe I ever thought we belonged together.”
“I can’t believe this.” Ethan frowned still holding his reddened jaw.
“I can’t believe your saying these things. This is so unlike you.”
“Unlike me?” Theresa laughed bitterly. “You don’t even know me Ethan!
You have no idea who I am. Don’t you get it Ethan? We were in love with
images! You loved the image of the girl you thought I was, and I loved
the image of the man I wanted you to be. You never loved the real me and
you never will.” She shouted. “I was such a fool!”
“I guess it’s best if I go.” Ethan frowned. “If that’s how you really
feel.”
Theresa sighed. “I told you to leave. Leave my room, leave this house,
and please Ethan leave my life.”
“If that’s what you want Theresa.” Ethan muttered turning his back
on her as he slowly walked out the door.
“Its what I want.” She whispered to herself. “Its really what I want.”
“T.” A voice spoke from the door. “T, are you ok?”
Wiping the tears that had formed in her eyes, Theresa turned around
to face her husband. “Chad.” She smiled. “Yeah I’m ok.”
“Then why the tears?” Chad questioned walking into the room. “What
did he say to you T? What was Ethan saying?”
“Its ok Chad.” Her voice was assuring as she walked over to him and
took his hands. “I was finally freed.” She spoke. “Hearing him, seeing
him, I knew that it was over.”
“He wanted you back didn’t he?” Chad questioned brushing her hair from
her face.
“Only because Gwen is gone.”
“And you turned him down?” Chad smiled.
Theresa bit her lip. “I sort of hit him.” She admitted. “Punched him
with my fist.”
Chad’s eyes grew big and he began to laugh loudly. “You punched him?
T, you’ve got spunk girl.”
She smirked. “I should feel bad about it, but for some reason I don’t.
I mean I’ve never believed in hitting men, but he just kept saying these
stupid things. I don’t know what happened I just smacked him in the jaw.”
“It really is over this time isn’t?” Chad asked looking in her eyes.
“You’re really done with him?”
“I’ve been saying that for awhile now.” She smiled.
“But you really mean it now. I can see it all over your face T. Its
like you’ve been released.”
“Yeah.” Theresa agreed. “I’ve been released.” She spoke her eyes becoming
wide. “I’m free of him Chad, finally free.” She laughed wrapping her arms
around his neck. “I’m so happy I could kiss you.” She spoke with a giggle.
Chad pulled back from her and smirked. “What’s stopping you?” He questioned.
“Nothing.” She answered back, “Nothing at all.”
With those words spoken her lips touched his in a tender kiss.

Julian Crane stood in the doorway of Eve Russell’s office, watching
as she worked. A smile played on his lips as he thought about her, and
the love he still felt. He had caused her so much pain, but he had also
given her all of his love. She was the only woman for him, and he knew
someway he would make her see that they belonged together. “Your beautiful
even while your working.” He spoke watching as eyes left her computer and
met his.
“Julian.” She smiled. “What are you doing here?”
“I came looking for a lovely doctor, and it appears that I’ve found
her.”
Eve laughed softly, “You never know when to give up do you?”
“Not when it comes to you darling.” He spoke. “I’m a man on a mission.”
Eve lowered her head, “How is Chad? I spoke to him yesterday and he
said things are progressing with his little plan.” She could see Julian’s
face brighten just at the mention of their son.
“He is working some sort of angle.” Julian laughed. “Theresa of course
is helping him. They are focused at the moment, on getting Fox’s vote.
It will be a challenge, but I believe they can handle it.”
Eve chuckled. “Those two are quite the team. I’m amazed at how Theresa
is handling this. She’s a very smart woman, and when she wants something
she doesn’t give up.”
“She wants revenge on my father.” Julian sighed. “And I can’t say I
blame her. He wanted to do to her, what he did to us.”
“Rip her son away from her?” Eve frowned. “Yes Julian, I understand
where Theresa is coming from.” Thinking for a moment she looked at him.
“He’s your son too you know, do you see him often? Spend time with him
at all?”
Julian dropped his head. “I’m afraid I haven’t spent time with the
boy.”
”Julian.” Eve sighed. “He is your son. He’s your second chance at being
a father. You were never a real father to your other children, and Chad,
well he wasn’t here.”
Julian nodded his head. “I understand what your saying, and I do want
to become close to the boy.” Smiling he looked up at her. “You do know
that Theresa changed his name. Martin Luis, she took Ethan off of it.”
Eve laughed, “I’m very proud of her. She’s becoming a fine woman, now
that she has Ethan out of her system. “
“Yes, I suppose you’re right.” Julian agreed. “I believe Chad is the
person to thank for that. I’ve seen her with our son, and he makes her
a better person. He seems to be connected to her in a way no one else is.”
“Well they have been friends for a while now.”
Julian thought for a moment. “Its more than that though. I can’t explain
it, but I can see it.”
“Chad, he’s a wonderful person isn’t he?” Eve gushed. “He brings out
the best in everyone.”
“He’s part of you Eve, of course he’s wonderful.” Julian’s voice was
sincere as he touched her hand. “Chad is much like his mother.”
“He reminds me of you as well.” She whispered. “She reminds me of the
Julian Crane I fell in love with.”
“I’m still that man Eve.” Julian spoke taking her hand in his. “I’m
still the same man and I still love you darling. I’ll always love you.”
~*~*~*~*~
Fox Crane stood staring out at of his window watching as the snow covered
the ground. His phone was in his hand as he thought about his father, his
brother and his grandfather. He had been made a very interesting offer,
but he was a Crane and he knew he had to weight both ends before deciding
what to do. Dialing his grandfather’s number he leaned against the window
and smiled.
“Alistair Crane.” A gruff voice spoke.
“Grandfather, its so nice to hear your voice.”
“Nicholas what do you want?” Alistair growled. “Money, or a new car?
What is it this time boy?”
Fox tilted his head back. “Actually grandfather I was calling to check
on you.”
“Your lying Nicholas, but since you called I do have a few things to
talk to you about.”
Fox smirked. “Oh really now?”
“Yes. I hear you’re in Harmony? What brought you back their Nicholas?
Just what are you up to?” Alistair questioned.
“Grandfather, you know how I love my family.” Fox spoke. “I came back
to meet my new brother. Its not everyday you find out you have a older
brother.”
“I see.” Alistair sighed. “Nicholas my boy, I think its time we had
a little talk. A talk about Crane Industries and who I want as my heir.”
“Your heir? Grandfather, I thought father was your heir?” Fox questioned
arching his eyebrow.
There was silence ad then Alistair spoke. “I’m sure Chad and his little
bride are up to something boy. I’m not stupid, and I know it has to do
with me. I don’t know what they are planning, but I can tell you he will
never be my heir. Your father is also busy at the moment, trying to win
back the good Doctor and I don’t feel he is the right man either. So, Nicholas,
that leaves you as my heir.”
“Me?” Fox gasp. “Yes you.”
“Well this has given me a lot to think about Grandfather. I have to
let you go now, but I will get back to you soon.”
Clicking off his phone he smiled as he stared down at the snow. His
phone began to ring leaving him little time to think.
”Crane here.” He spoke into the phone.
“Well, well if it isn’t my big brother.” A voice spoke brazenly into
the phone.
“Jasolyn.” He frowned hearing his oldest sister’s voice. “What do you
want?”
The girl laughed. “I just wanted to tell you I won.”
“You what?” He questioned annoyed at his sister.
”I won.” She repeated. “Grandfather called me yesterday. We had a very
interesting talk Nicky dear. You can give it up brother, because I am the
chosen one.”
“I see.” Fox grunted. “What did grandfather say to you?”
Again Jasolyn laughed. “I am the Crane heir Nicky. Grandfather wants
me to run the business. The rest of you are simply too soft to handle such
a task.”
”Grandfather said you’re his heir?” Fox questioned turning red with
anger. “He told you that?”
“I know its hard for you to believe big brother, but I am his heir
and you well you’re just the preppy rich boy that no one cares about. Anyway,
just thought you’d like to know. Bye Nicky.”
“Jas, wait.” He called but the phone went dead. Furious he slammed
his phone down and turned away from the window. Realizing what his grandfather
was doing he smirked.
”So you think you can get our votes like this Al? You’ve just made
a very big mistake. One that just cost you everything.” He laughed.
