The Best Laid Plans - Chapter 69
Carly is hanging up the phone as Jason comes down the stairs.
“ Who was that?”
” It was Dr. Newman’s office. She wants to see me.”
” What for?”
” I don’t know. But, she said to come by in about an hour.”
” Well, I don’t have anything else to do this morning. I’ll go with you.”
“ Thanks, Jase.”
Carly and Jason leave the hospital on their way to GH.

Carly and Jason are in Dr. Newman’s office when she comes in.
“ Hello, Mr. & Mrs. Morgan.”
“ Dr. Newman. We came as soon as we got the call from your office. Is there something wrong?”, Carly asks.
“ Yes, Carly. I am very worried about your blood pressure. For you to be as young as you are, it’s too high. Dangerously so. Have you been under a lot of pressure?”
” You could say that.”
” Well, whatever it is, it has to stop. Ordinarily, I would say that we would go with a ‘wait and see’ attitude about it. But, you are in the final stage of your pregnancy. I want to monitor you. I’d like to admit you to GH as soon as possible. If anything were to go wrong, we could be on top of it immediately.”
“ You think something’s wrong with my baby?”
“ No. Nothing is wrong with the baby. But, something could go wrong, if you were sick, and couldn’t get accesss to immediate healthcare. This is just a precaution. But, I’d rather be safe than sorry.”
” So, when do Carly and the kid check in here?”
” Right now. I had my secretary get all the paperwork ready that you’ll need to fill out. We can start Carly on some medication that will help the blood pressure go down.”
” Medication? Won’t that hurt the baby?”
” Not this one. Of course, if you choose so, I won’t give any medication and we will have to do this with a little diet and prayer and close monitoring.”
” I choose no medication.”
” Well, we’ll talk about it when you get to your room. If the two of you will go out to my secretary, she’ll give you all the paperwork. And, then, find Amy Vining. She has all the information about your room. I’ll see you soon.”
Carly and Jason leave Dr. Newman’s office.

“ Well, Carly, here’s your room. Top of the line. Primo real estate. Great views. No company. Most expensive GH has to offer.” Amy looks over at Jason . “ But, sorry, the glass isn’t bullet-proof.”
” That’s OK. The angles are too steep for someone to take an accurate shot anyway.”
“ Well, Carly, what a guy. From Tony to THIS....”, Amy walks out of the room.
” What’s the matter with her?”, Jason asks.
” Oh, she’s Tony’s biggest fan. I’ve always thought she had the hots for him.”
Jason laughs. “ I can’t imagine anyone having the hots for Dr. Jones.”
Carly laughs. “ Stop it. Be nice.”
Just then, Tony walks in.
“ What’s wrong Carly? Is it the baby?”
” My condition is none of your business Tony.”
“ The hell it isn’t. If it affects my child, it is my business.”
” First of all, Carly told you that the baby isn’t yours. Second of all, while it’s inside Carly, whatever happens to Carly is NONE of your business. DON’T approach Carly again. You know the room number. DON’T ever come by here again and bother her. You won’t get in.”
“ Well, well, aren’t you just the macho thug-slash-protector today? You may have bullets and bodyguards, but, you can’t alter the fact that the baby is MINE! And, I will be involved in my child’s life. You won’t stop me.”
” Oh, yes, I will. RINALDO!”
Johnny and Rinaldo come in. Tony begins to leave. “ Well, soon, the baby will be here, and, I’ll have the courts on my side. No one is going to give a baby to a tramp and a gangster. All I’ll need, is my day in court.”
Tony leaves and Carly plops down on the bed, tears in her eyes. Jason takes a chair and sits across from Carly.
“ Carly.....Carly...look at me.” Carly looks at Jason in the eye. “ Dr. Jones isn’t going to take your baby.”
” Jason...he’s right. When we get to court.”
” IF we ever get to court, they will look at Dr. Jones the way I do: a middle-aged man, who thinks he owns everything, when he owns nothing. Whatever you did, he still left his wife and child, of his own choice. How does that make him the best choice for this kid? It doesn’t. I have money, and I have power. And, I’ll use them to help you keep this baby. Dr. Jones looks at me as some brain-damaged idiot. But, the only problems I will have is if you see me that way.”
” Jason, God, no. I don’t see you that way at all.”
” OK, then. No more thinking about Dr. Jones. I’ll have a guard outside your door and another patrolling the hall 24-7. He won’t get near you again. Understand?”
” Yeah.”
” Fine. Now, I’ve gotta go back to the Penthouse and get some stuff for you. I have the list you made out. I think between this list and Graciella, You’ll get what you need. I’m taking Rinaldo with me, Johnny’s at the door. If you need anything, tell him.”
” Fine.”
” Bye.” Jason leaves Carly sitting on the bed.
After a few minutes, Carly goes to the door. “ Johnny?”
” Yes, Mrs. Morgan.”
” I want to take a walk. “
” Ok.”

Lorraine hears a knock on her door. She goes to open it, when Jason and his guards push their way in.
“ Hey! Who the HELL are you?”
“ My name is Jason Morgan.”
“ SO?”
“ I’m Carly’s husband.”
“ Husband? What happened with Dr. Jones?”
“ He’s out. I’m in.”
“ So I see. And, what can I do for you?”
” Keep your mouth shut.”
” About?”
“ Carly’s personal business. I would take deep offense if I believed that you were disrespecting my wife. And, you don’t want to know what happens to people who offend me. Am I understood?”
“ Completely.”
” Good. So, are we clear about Carly?”
“ Carly who?

Bobbie is sitting reading a magazine when..
“ Carly? What the hell are you doing here?”
” Obviously making yet another mistake. Bye..”
” Carly, wait. Obviously, you came to see me. What’s it about?”
“ Well, I was sitting in my room..”
” YOUR room? You’re here? At GH? Why? What’s wrong?”
” Gee Bobbie, you sound like you almost care.”
“ Carly.”
” My blood pressure’s high. So, they wanted to monitor me. Jason went home to get my stuff.”
“ My pressure was high when...”
“ Yeah, well, Luke told me you’re gonna have a baby.”
” Hopefully.”
“ Is it serious?”
” Very.”
“ Well.....uh.....I have to go. Jason’s probably back with my stuff.
See you around.”
Carly leaves.

Bobbie is resting in her room. It’s late at night, and the only light in the room is moonlight, which is streaming in due to the raised blinds. Bobbie opens her eyes to find Carly standing there, staring at her.
“ Carly?”
” Yeah. I didn’t mean to disturb you. I’ll leave.”
” No. Don’t go. I wasn’t really asleep. Just resting for a bit. They never tell you, but, honestly, if you’re not out of your mind on drugs, no one sleeps in the hospital. They spend nights only thinking about how much they want to leave it.”
Carly laughs. “ I agree with you on that.”
” Shouldn’t you be asleep?”
” I’m taking care of myself. I wouldn’t do anything to hurt my baby.”
“ Carly. I know that. Sorry I said anything. No need to get so defensive.”
” I don’t know about that.”
“ Look. As long as we’re both up, and there’s nothing on the TV, maybe we could talk.”
” About what?”
“ I don’t know.”
Bobbie and Carly sit in silence for a few minutes. Then, Carly gets up to leave. She gets to the door and turns around.
” Yes?”, Bobbie inquires.
” I do have one question that’s been on my mind. But, it may be personal.”
“ Carly. After everything between us over the past two years, aren’t you too late?”, Bobbie asks with more than a hint of sarcasm in her voice.
Carly ignores the sarcasm and goes and sits down in the chair next to Bobbie.
“ What is it, Carly?”
“ I was wondering if you were ever with a guy that wasn’t a customer.”
