Ethan loaded the last of the boxes into the moving van. Chad watched
him with his arms crossed.
"I wish you would stay man. Both Theresa and Gwen made it perfectly
clear neither of them wanted anything to do with you."
"I don't care Chad. I have to get her back," Ethan answered, stubbornly.
"Which one?" Chad asked.
Ethan looked at him, the same question in his head. "Honestly Chad,
I'm not sure. Theresa makes me feel wild and excited, like I'm the only
man on the entire planet. Gwen makes me want to be strong and dependable,
makes me want to be a real man just for her. I would kill anyone who would
hurt either of them."
"But you hurt both of then, Ethan and you will continue to if you don't
leave them alone. Let them be until they find out what they want."
"And then what? What if neither want me? What then? I can't sit around
and wait for one of them to decide, I have to prove to them I am worthy
of them."
"But you've already proven you aren't by not being able to decide between
them. Make your choice, then go back and try to persuade one of them that
you love them the most because you really will."
Ethan turned on Chad angrily."You are in no place to be lecturing me
about love. The girl you thought you would be spending the rest of your
life with broke up with you a week before the wedding."
"Don't start with me, man! You have no idea about anything. You broke
up with the woman you spent most of your life with the day before the wedding
for someone else. You have no place to talk about anything. You are not
some gift to women. Leave Theresa and Gwen alone!"
"Yeah, if you were in my position, you wouldn't leave Whitney alone!"
"I don't even know where she is! Fine, go back to Harmony. Go make
a bigger fool of yourself than you already have! Don't expect to find any
friends, either here or there once you're done."
With that, Chad turned on his heel and marched back to the house. Ethan
slammed the door shut and climbed into the van.
"I'll show you, Chad. One of them will take me back. They have to.
I'm all they have."
Whitney stretched. Her legs and arms were sore from the day before.
Fox had been marvelous. He had taken her horseback riding then rented a
hotel room and he had slept on the floor. She smiled as she watched him
sleep. He had been so wonderful the past few days. Driving wherever she
wanted, doing whatever she wanted. Such a great friend. She knew she would
have to go back and face Chad eventually, but not yet. Not until she knew
what she wanted.
The phone at Eve's office rang shrilly. She grabbed it quickly, hoping
it wasn't who she thought it was.
"Eve?"
"Oh good, it's you Julian."
"Who did you think it was?"
"Liz. Who else? She got everything she wanted and she's still harassing
me."
"None of them deserved you, Eve."
"Honestly, I don't really miss TC, but I want more than anything for
Simone to talk to me again. Liz has her wrapped around her little finger."
"She'll realize someday what a wonderful mother and woman you are,
I promise."
"I hope you're right. Anyway, did you get Rebecca to finally calm down?"
"Oh yes. She believed you when you said you came by because I wasn't
feeling well to give me a checkup, but she made me spend an awful lot of
money for her to forgive me."
Eve laughed. "I'm sorry about that."
"No worries my dear. It was well worth it. Someday, we'll be able to
be together without the secrets my darling. I live for that day. I love
you Eve," Hulian said as he hung up the phone. Eve smiled as well and went
on to work.
Miguel groaned as Cassandra screamed again. She had been throwing up
all night and he had just gotten her to sleep and fallen asleep himself.
"Comon Princess, you need your sleep. How are you ever going to feel
better if you don't?"
Pilar entered the room. "It's just a stomach bug, Miguel. All kids
get them."
"Yeah well, she makes an awful big deal about it. So much like her
mother," he said laughing.
"Speaking of, what time was Kay coming to get him today?"
"Around noon. She said she had some things to take care of so she was
going to be later than normal."
Pilar picked Cassie up and carried her down the stairs.
"Why don't you and Gramma try getting some water down you while daddy
gets some sleep, huh?" she cooed as she walked the baby down the stairs.
Miguel smiled gratefully after her.
"You're the best, mom."
Kay was sitting at Tabitha's house reading up on some more spells.
"I don't get it, Tabitha. I've done everything like you've said and
he still doesn't love me."
"Well, he and Charity haven't been married yet so theres still hope,"
Tabitha answered, mixing some horrible smelling potions.
Kay rolled her eyes."I've listened to you over and over and I'm getting
impatient!"
"Getting?" Tabitha's son, Jeremy walked in the room. Though he was
only a few months old, he looked at least 20 years old. "Good heavens,
Mother, what the devil are you cooking?!?"
Tabitha smiled at her son. He was stunningly good looking with a pompous
air about him. Very much like Julian, but she still adored him. "Just a
little concoction I'm trying out pet. Stay away from it though if you don't
want to shrink," she said, knocking his hand away. Kay smiled at him beguilingly.
"Jeremy? I have a great idea!"
"There's a first," he answered, helping himself to a piece of toast.
"Why don't you make Charity fall in love with you and leave Migual
free for me?"
Jeremy made the house rock with his laughter. "Miss Sticky Sweet? No
way Kay. Find yourself another lackey."
Kay frowned at him and tried to argue, but Jeremy was already heading
out the door.
"What is with him?" Kay asked Tabitha, who had succeeded in burning
a hole through the counter with her potion.
"Hmm?" ansered Tabitha.
"Never mind," Kay said irritably, than returned to her book.
