Mr. Immigration Man, Chapter 15
Felicia is running down the streets of the village. Frisco is chasing her. They come to a park.
" Felicia. Please. Stop! COME ON!"
Felicia slows down. Stops, but does not turn around. When Frisco finally catches up with her, he sees the tears in her eyes.
"Felicia, we have to talk. Let's sit here."
The sit on the bench. They are literally the only ones in the pak.
" I'm sorry. I know what a complete asshole you must think I am."
" You have NO idea. None at all."
" I should've told you."
" Yes, you should've. I can understand why not the girls. But me? A simple note would have sufficed."
" I just couldn't."
" Why?"
" I was a coward, I guess."
" So.....you LOVE this woman?"
" Deeply."
" I see you didn't get married before conception."
" Not by my choice. It was hers. I had asked her to marry me before the baby was ever conceived. I had to convince her that I wanted marriage."
" I thought you weren't marriage material."
" That was before Florentyna. She understands me. And my need for the WSB. Where you couldn't accept the job and life, she grew up with it. Knows and accepts the pitfalls. Being one of the best Researchers the WSB has, she understands my life completely. I don't have to..."
" Settle with her?"
" Nope. I don't. When I'm gone, she has an entire fsamily who has years of experience with this situation. Her parents have been married for over 40 years and happy with it. I think we will be too."
" Well.....you've just got your cake and are eating it too, heh?"
" Yes, I suppose so. I finally have a sense of balance. I've been doing the WSB thing for a while, now. I've gotten older and a bit more mature. And I want different things. The adventures don't fill me up the way they used to. I needed someone to come home to."
" And it wasn't me?"
" No, it wasn't you. You were a reminder of the past. Of the old me. When I think of us, I think, young and free. As much as I love Maxie and Georgie, they were the end of us...young and free. That life and my present do not mix. I look and remember us as youth, first love. What should be in a perfect world. But it isn't a perfect, and people move on. Not to something that they "settle" for, but for what will last. They find the perfect balance and fit."
" And that's Florentyna?"
" Yes, it's her. When I am with her, I am not on the job. I am with her. I don't look over my shoulder. I am not anticipating the next assignment. I'm just with her. Please be happy for me Felicia. I really want the girls to be able to come and visit and for me to visit them without there being tension between us. If I had never loved and lost you, I would never have been able to find Florentyna or appreciate all that I have."
" You know me...always willing to help in anyway."
" Felicia...."
" Frisco, what do you want?! My blessing? OK, you have my blessing to be with Flo the Italian Superwonder. Alright?!"
" Felicia.."
" Just go you jerk! Just go away!"
Frisco leaves Felicia who is sobbing her eyes out when Mac arrives. As always, Mac takes Felicia in his arms and lets her sob on his shoulders.
" Mac....it's REALLY over. Really over. He loves HER now. And it is no joke. Not at all. Can we just sit here for a while?"
" For as long as you want."
Mac and Flea sit there, on that bench, for many hours into the night.

Ruby, Lucky, Tony, Carly and Bobbie are outside of Lucas' room. Stefan comes in, and goes directly to Bobbie, despite the glaring stares of everyone on the room. They move to the corner of the room.
" Barbara, what's wrong."
" I was in Lucas' room, when he began to crash."
" Crash?"
" Go into cardiac arrest. They called in a team, and they worked on him. You know, this isn't the first time this happened. How much can his poor body take. He's only a child."
" But he's a strong child. You know that. Just like his mother."
" He's not mine biologically."
" Biology is not everything. Somethings are taught. Like tenacity. And I am sure that you've given him all sorts of lessons in it. You are..."
Dr.'s Shapiro and Gruber come out.
" Well, I can say that I have seen cases like Lucas' before. The body, in it's last ditch effort to rid itself of the "demons" so to say, shuts itself down completely."
" What are you saying?"
" What I am saying , Tony, is that we just did the checkup on Lucas. All the diagnostics and everything is doing fine. All the tests came back as well as could be. Lucas' blood sugar is only 50 points above what it should be, and that ought to correct itself in a few days. I don't think it is too much to say that you will be taking your son home in about a week. Wouldn't you concur Dr. Shapiro?"
" Absolutely."
" But....Lucas wasn't responding to anything."
" Well, that's not the problem anymore. He's wide awake and asking for his parents."
" Are you sure?"
" Absolutely. Why don't you two go in and see for yourselves."
Bobbie and Tony enter the room. Bobbie sees that Stefan is about to leave.
" Stefan, don't go. I'm sure Lucas would want to talk to you."
Carly, Ruby and Lucky shoot Barnabus Cassadine the evil eye.

Mac brings Felicia back to her hotel room. They sit down on the bed. Mac stands up to leave. Felicia pulls him back down. She begins to kiss him. He responds. They slink back down onto the bed. Felicia is unbuttoning Mac's shirt when....
" No. Stop it Felicia. I can't do this. Not now."
(kissing him ) " Why not?"
" This is why I broke up with you in the first place. I will NOT be a leftover for Frisco. I think I'm better than that. I love you Felicia. I really do. I just wish you'd realize that. And that we could have something really special. Something deeper than Frisco. Way better than the Hardy Boy. You deserve so much. And so do I. I'll see you in the morning. We have work to do. Nite."
Felicia is left there, sitting on the bed, where she cries herself to sleep.

Lucas is wide awake in his bed.
"Mommy! Daddy!"
(as Bobbie covers him with kisses) " Hi honey! How are you?"
" I'm OK, I guess. I feel sorta icky."
" You have no idea kiddo how glad we are to hear your voice saying "icky".
" Lucas, what do you remember?"
" I remember going to the catacombs. And falling down that hole. But my leg wasn't hurt. Wasn't that a miracle Mommy?"
" Yes, it was."
" Then I was walking for a long, long time. I got sleepy and lay down."
" Nothing else?"
" Nope. How did I get here?"
" Well, someone came down and saved you. "
" Nikolas came and got me. I knew he would after he got my message."
" No. Nikolas did not save you, Lucas."
" Then who did Daddy?"
" Stefan saved you Lucas."
" Uncle?"
" Yes."
" Then I guess I should thank him, right Mommy?"
" That would be the right thing to do."
Bobbie goes to get Stefan and bring him in.
" Hello, Lucas. How are you doing?"
" I guess fine, thanks to you Uncle. Did you really climb all the way down there just to find me?"
" Yes, I did."
" Why? Mommy says that you are angry with her. So why would you help me?"
" Well......if Nikolas was hurt, do you think that your mother would hesitate to help him?"
" No."
" It is the same with me. Whatever adults may do to each other Lucas, I believe that the one priority is to make sure that the children suffer as little as possible. When you were ill, I saw that even more. I know that you and Nikolas have been distant as of late, but I hope that is over with, and you will come and play with Nikolas at Wyndermere anytime that the two of you wish."
" You mean it?"
" Absolutely."
" Cool."
" Well, why don't I walk Stefan out, and send in your Aunt Ruby and Lucky."
Bobbie sends them in. Carly, once again is lurking around, so Stefan and Bobbie go outside the room to the Floor Lounge.
" You didn't have to do that with Lucas, in there. I will make apologies about the trips to Wyndermere."
" I meant everything I said to Lucas, Barbara. He can come and play with Nikolas at anytime. When you and Lucas left, I was having dinner with Nikolas at the house one night when Alexis was in a meeting. I realized then how much he missed both you AND Lucas. How he used to draw Lucas out and get him to discuss his entire day."
" I remember. They almost made a game of it."
" Whatever our differences Barbara, Lucas and Nikolas are two lonely little boys. I believe that Lucas hides it better, but he bloomed under the relationship with Nikolas. As Nikolas taught him one sport after another, he cherished the attention and the guidance. And Nikolas finally found an outlet for the attention that I know he wishes that he could bestow upon Lesley Lu. The relationship between the boys is mutually beneficial and why should they pay for the actions in the adults' lives? Don't you agree?"
" Yes, I do. I just never thought you would."
" I did not see it. Not for a long time. But Lucas' tragedy cleared up a great deal of things....like what is most important. For me, it has always been Nikolas and what is best for him. Lucas is one of those positive forces."
" And Nikolas does wonders for Lucas also."
" So, see, a Spencer and a Cassadine can agree on somethings. It's rare, but possible."
(laughs) " You're right. If I have not said it before, thank you Stefan. Your support during this time has meant a great deal to me. (uncomfortable silence) Well, I should get back to Lucas."
" That you should. There has never been any need to thank me, Barbara. There is no way that I would ever sit back and allow you to suffer the pain of a loss of a child without doing all I could to prevent it. You have had enough of the pain to last a lifetime."
" Hell Freezes over again. Cause I completely agree. Goodbye Stefan."
" Goodbye."
As Stefan contemplates his next move, Nikolas comes by.
" Uncle?"
" Oh, Nikolas. I did not see you. Did you want something?"
" I was wondering what you were doing here. Alexis said something about you and Katherine having plans."
" We did. But then I received a phone call from Barbara, and.."
" Is something wrong with Lucas?"
" No, Nikolas. Calm down. Just the opposite. Lucas is well, and awake."
" Awake? Are you sure?"
" I believe so, considering that I spoke to him myself just a while ago."
" Wow. Lucas is awake. And he's going to be OK?"
" The doctors are going to keep him in here for about one week and continue their vigorous monitoring. But barring any unforeseen complications, he should be released in a week."
" That's great news. Uncle, do you mind if I go see him?"
" Not at all. I'll see you later at home."
" Bye."
Nikolas leaves. Stefan makes a phone call.
" Alexis Davis."
" Alexis, I thought you'd want to know that Lucas is completely "out of the woods" and well on his way to complete recovery."
" Complete recovery. He's regained consciousness?"
" Yes. I spoke to him a while ago, where he proceeded to thank me for saving him."
" I am assuming that all this thanks took place in front of Bobbie."
" Of course. I feel inching closer, I really do."
" So, what is your next move?"
" Right now, I must repair some damage with Katherine. But I think that more of the same with Barbara must be the course of action. Numbers of chance meetings and meals are all that I can do. Anymore at this time, would cast suspicion on me, and that is the last thing I intend to do."
" I agree. The last thing that we want to do is tip your hand. But there must be progress Stefan. Remember Felicia Jones and Mac Scorpio are on a mission to find Luke. And once they do and he returns, it will be difficult to accomplish the duties at hand."
" Yes. But Luke Spencer is not as much of a threat as you think he is. I do need some more time to lay the foundation of our reconciliation, but once that is done, then Luke Spencer can do all he wants. I have him exactly where I want him."
" Oh, you do? You've said this once before. I hope one day you sit me down and tell me how you have Luke Spencer. I'm sure it's a fascinating tale."
" You have NO idea how fascinating it is. Goodnight Alexis."
" Goodnight."
