Mr. Immigration Man, Chapter 4

Wyndermere: Garcia is there, as well as the head of Cassadine Security. At this point, Taggert, who has also arrived starts asking questions.

"So, who say the little boy last?"

" That would be the babysitter. Bette, but I have not been able to get in contact with her."

"Oh. What do you know about this Bette."

" For Pete's sake, Bette has been taking care of Lucas for years. She has nothing to do with it."

" What about the boy's father?"

"Tony? He doesn't have Lucas."

" Are things going well between you two?"

" Huh? What? Don't you get it? MY SON IS MISSING! And you're not doing a damn thing to find him? What are you? A rent a cop?"

" Detective Taggert, I must agree with Barbara. She has checked on everyone who would know Lucas. And with no results. Now, my nephew has prepared photos and this flier that should be able to help you. But asking these inane questions when a 6 year old boy is missing does not help."

"Mr. Cassadine. I can understand you being worried. But I am doing my job. An overwhelming majority of missing children's cases are done by people that the child knows and trusts. As soon as we can eliminate that group, it makes our job just that much easier. We, of course, simulaneously, will be going the stranger route."

"Of course, Detective."

Mac and Tony walk in.

" Were you going to let me know where you were, Bobbie? If it hadn't been for Nikolas calling me, I would be lost. Why are you HERE of all places."

" Tony, I..."

" Barbara is here because she thought that Lucas might have been with Nikolas. He wasn't. Barbara explained the situation, and of course, I offered to help."

" WHY?"

" I am a parent, Dr. Jones. No one deserves this kind of agony. I hope that you accept my help in the spirit that it is given."

" Sure....... So, Detectives, what are you doing to find my son?"

Garcia and Taggert go over in a corner with Tony and Mac. Bobbie is sitting on the couch, becoming more unhinged as the minutes go by...Stefan approaches her.

" Barbara, is there anything you need?"

" No thank you Stefan. I can't say that I am fine, because I am not. But I am holding on. But as the time keeps marching on...I have to worry."

"Barbara, I have talked to the men from the FBI. We are doing everything according to perfect proceedure."

" Proceedure, Stefan. Don't you understand? Even IF we find Lucas, it may be too late."

"Oh."

" Yes, Oh. I have been counting the minutes from which Lucas was to have taken his insulin. And every minute that goes by, he comes closer and closer to a diabetic coma. So, finding him isn't exactly the Holy Grail that it's made out to be."

"Barbara, you can't lose faith. I have Cassadine Helicopters ready and waiting for whenever they make a positive identification. He will be taken to General Hospital immediately."

" If I have not said it before.....thank you Stefan."

" There is no need for thanks."

Tony and Mac come back.

" I am going to go with the detectives to the PCPD an their missing children's room. Do you want for me to drop you off at the brownstone? Or do you want to come with us?"

" I think I should go back to the brownstone. I guess I will..."

" Dr. Jones. Nikolas and I will take Barbara back to the brownstone."

" Alright. Well, you have my cell phone number."

" Nikolas, call for the car. Barbara, are you ready to go?"

Bobbie nods yes.

" Alexis, you will stay here?"

" Certainly. And Bobbie? Don't worry, they'll find Lucas."

" Thank you, Alexis."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bobbie, Stefan and Nikolas all return to the brownstone. Felicia is waiting for them.
" Oh, Bobbie, I just heard. I'm so sorry."
"Thank you Felicia."
"Why don't you come in, sit down and I'll fix us some tea while we wait."
" What about Maxie and Georgie?"
"Audrey and her granddaughters agreed to babysit. Well, Stefan, Nikolas, you don't have to stay. I can be here with Bobbie."
" If Barbara wants for us to leave, Ms. Jones, we will. I, for one, would like to stay. I have my men working on the search, and I think it would be best if I stayed. "
" I love Lucas, too. and I want to stay. That is, if you want us around, Bobbie."
" Sure. You can stay. The more the merrier." (as tears begin to flow)
" You know what Bobbie? I am going to go up to Lucas' room and see if you missed anything."
" Thanks Nikolas."
" Well, I'll go make us tea."
After a bit, Stefan approaches Bobbie.
"Barbara, I meant what I said. I will leave if you want me to."
" There is no need Stefan. Well, I look like a blubbering idiot."
" No, you don't. You look as strong as ever."
" Strong? I am anything but strong."
" I disagree. It's there. But you don't need to be all alone, Barbara. You have people that you can lean on during this difficult time...People like.."
" So, STefan, how do you take your tea?"
" I am not thirsty now, Ms. Jones. But thank you. "
" You're welcome....Here, Bobbie, drink this. It might calm your nerves."
Nikolas comes running down into the living room.
" I think I know where Lucas is!"
