Mr. Immigration Man, Chapter 5
Bobbie, Stefan and Felicia are in Bobbie's living room at the Brownstone when Nikolas comes running into the room.
"I think I know where Lucas is!"
"Where? How?"
" I was looking through his things. For some reason, I looked underneath his mattress. And I found these articles, here, on the catacombs. And scribbled in the corner of the paper on one of them is my name."
"Lucas would never go to the catacombs by himself."
"But Bobbie, Lucas did not think that he would be alone. He thought I
would be with him."
"That sounds true. But where do we start to look. They cover such a
large area. Stefan?"
" I think that the first thing we should do is go there. And once there,
I believe there will probably be clues as to where Lucas might be. I
doubt that he would take the more difficult entrances. It is imperative
that we go there now."
" Right."
" I am going too."
"Ms. Jones, I do not see the necessity."
" I am Bobbie's best friend and Lucas' aunt. I am going!"
"Alright. We will contact the police about our suspicions in the car.
Nikolas, stay here."
"No uncle, I won't. I'm coming with you."
"Fine. We should go."

They arrive at the catacombs. They begin to call out for Lucas, with no
response. After a while, Nikolas finds something.
"Hey! Over here."
When they get to Nikolas, they find him standing near a hole. Lucas'
favorite baseball cap is there. This place is near where the explosion
went off when Harry held Brenda And Sonny.
"Oh My God, Lucas!"
" Now Barbara, it could mean nothing."
"Nothing? Nothing?! This is Lucas' hat. I remember when Tony gave it to him. Lucas (pointing to the hole) is down there. What are we going to do?"
" You are not going to do anything. Nikolas, go ask Pryce to look in the
car and bring back the rope."
" Uncle, what are you going to do?"
" I'm going down there."
" Stefan, you can't. We should wait for the professionals to come."
"Ms. Jones. Time is of the essence. Each minute that goes by is one that
slips Lucas closer to illness. Nikolas, get the rope."
Nikolas comes back with the rope. They tie it around Stefan. Nikolas and Price and Felicia all help lower Stefan into the catacombs. He has a
small flashlight. It is cold, very cold and wet.
"UNCLE! Are you alright? Do you see Lucas?"
" I am fine Nikolas. I am going to untie the rope from myself so that I
can go and find Lucas. The ground does not look steady, so please warn
the police when they get here."
Stefan takes off in the catacombs...slowly..first he walks..but as the
passageways narrow, he winds up crawling on his hands and knees. The mud is ice cold. My God, he thought, a child could not survive in this. He is continually yelling for Lucas..listening intently for any sign of life down there.

Mac, Tony and the Detectives arrive. Felicia fills them in. Tony goes to
Bobbie.
"Any word from Stefan?"
"No. nothing, not since he first got down there."
" I still don't get it. Why would he be doing all this?"
" I don't know. And I don't care. All I care is that Lucas is found.
But, Stefan always had a soft spot for children."
" There are soft spots, and there's what he is doing now. I don't get
it."
" Maybe he's not the monster everyone thinks him to be. "
Although pretending to not notice, Nikolas has overheard all.

Down in the catacombs, Lucas is quite ill. It has been HOURS since he
was to have gotten his insulin. He is growing more listless as each
moment passes. Lethargy is beginning to sink in. He is getting very
tired. But he thinks that he should keep on moving. Hasn't he been here before? All these tunnels are looking alike to him. As Lucas goes on, he becomes more tired and sleepy. He checks his pockets; there is no more candy. He says to himself, he'll only go to sleep for a bit.

It has been over an hour. Stefan was fortunate that Nikolas had one of
those Flourescent silver highlight pens for school. He has been marking the way back, if he can ever find Lucas. The rescue people have decided against sending someone else downthere, due to the fact that it was so unstable. So, it was Stefan or nothing. As Stefan continued down another passage, he thinks he sees something. Possibly a green flourescent dash. He goes to it. This is one of the smaller passages, so he is literally inching himself along as one would in the trenches during war. As he comes closer, he realizes that this wasn't a dash, but indeed a light. A light from the back of a child's
tennis shoe. I never saw any need for these designer athletic shoes, but
now I do. He had found Lucas! As he approached Lucas, Stefan realized
that he was still...too still.. When he got to him, he checked for
breath. Lucas was still breathing, but barely. And he was cold...ice
cold. Stefan hurried as fast as he could, backtracking his steps, back
to freedom. Time was of the essence.

They were all waiting around when Nikolas heard Stefan.
" BE QUIET! I think I hear something."
" NIKOLAS!"
"UNCLE?"
"Yes, it's me. And I have Lucas. I am about to tie the rope to myself
and bring him up."
" Mr. Cassadine, this is Detective Garcia. Can you send the child up
first?"
" No. Lucas is not conscious, and with the jagged edges, I believe he
would get cut, which is the last thing that should happen. I wil bring
him up."
"Alright."
Stefan ties the rope around himself, and places Lucas on his back. With
one hand, he is holding onto the rope and with the other, he is holding Lucas. The men are pulling them up slowly, when one of the men slips. The rope slips and Stefan is plunged some, right into the most jagged part of the rock. He is pierced, sharply in both his side and arm. They continue on...but the process is so slow, due to Stefan's weakening strength. They finally approach the surface.
" I see something. I see uncle and Lucas!"
They finally pull Stefan and Lucas to safety. Joe Scanlon comes to
Lucas.
"He's not breathing people, let's start some CPR."
Bobbie and Tony watch helplessly as the paramedics try to revive him. It seems like forever when,
"Alright. We got a beat and a pulse. Let's get him to the chopper and to
GH."
Bobbie and Tony ride in the copter with the EMT's. Felicia gets a ride
with Mac to GH.

Nikolas is with Stefan and Starsky and Hutch.
"How did you find him, Mr. Cassadine?"
" If you can believe it, through his atletic shoes. He has those kind
that light up as you walk, and the lights from the back showed me the
way. I was about...."
"UNCLE!"
Stefan had fallen. When Nikolas went to help him up, all Nikolas could see was blood.
" Someone HELP!"
