Mr. Immigration Man II-Chapter 1

Bobbie is straightening her house, when Luke comes in.

" Bobbie."

" What the hell are you doing here? Didn't I make myself clear, last night?"

" Barbara Jean, we have to talk."

" Oh, NOW you want to talk. You are about a year and a baby too late, Luke. You wanna confess, you find a priest."

" You HAVE to give me a chance to explain."

" HAVE TO? HAVE TO? No, Luke. Let me tell you what I HAVE to do. I HAVE to go to work, so that I can earn a living, so that I can support myself and my son. I HAVE to figure out a way that I can protect said son. I DON'T have to listen to you. And I won't. Now, get out of my house. NOW!"

" Bobbie..."

" Now."

Luke turns to leave. He gets to the door, and turns.

" I love you Barbara Jean. I always did. And you know I did what I thought was best. I would cut my heart out before I would hurt you."

" But you didn't cut out YOUR heart, Luke. You cut out mine."

Luke leaves.

Bobbie walks over to a picture of Lucas. Clutching it, she sits down on the couch and begins to sob.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Alexis and Stefan are sitting in Stefan's study.
"You're telling me that Carly Roberts is Bobbie's daughter? "
" Yes."
" The same Carly Roberts that stole Bobbie's husband, is living with him and is pregnant with his child?"
" One in the same."
" And that Luke Spencer KNEW this all the time?"
" Exactly."
" Well, I agree with you on one front. I never thought Luke was THAT stupid."
" I know. I gave Spencer more credit than that. Although I understand Spencer's actions. In his mind, he was trying to protect Barbara. He probably made a calculated risk."
" Which was?"
" He assumed, as did I, that sooner than later, that Dr. Jones would come to his senses and end his dalliance with Ms. Roberts. I doubt that Spencer believed that Dr. Jones would continue it to the point that Ms. Roberts would be with child."
" How long have you known this?"
" Since before I arranged for Barbara to find her and Dr. Jones, in his "love shack"..is that's what it is called?"
" Yes, that's the correct term. How was Bobbie?"
" The word devastated comes to mind."
" I saw the conservatory. Her handiwork?"
" Yes. Even I was surprised by the depth of Barbara's rage and anger. But, then I doubt that last night was just about Ms. Roberts."
" What was it about, then?"
" I think probably the culmination of a lifetime of Ms. Roberts. Of doing the right thing, and being the living example of "no good deed goes unpunished"."
" You sound as if you feel for Bobbie."
" Alexis, I am not a monster. I was always quite impressed by Barbara's strength and kindness. I had read the dossier on her. With her life's experiences, the gentleness and warm heart that she has is quite inexplicable many levels.'
" Don't forget that that warm heart wasn't above using narcotics ON YOU in order to get what she wanted."
" I have not forgotten what Barbara did. So, how was your evening with Nikolas?"
" It was fun. He has NOT decided which university to attend, although he is considering some in the States. And he knows that you are not happy about that possibility. We played some wonderful backgammon. And then he said one of the most curious things to me that I have not been able to get out of my mind."
" Which was?"
" That he had the distinct impression that Bobbie did not try and drug you because of Katherine."
" Well, we both know that. We know that she did it on Luke's orders."
" I told him that, and he still does not believe it. He thinks it was for other reasons."
" What other reasons could there be, Alexis? No, Barbara drugged me on Luke Spencer's orders."
" If you truly believe that, then how can you even think of getting back with a woman that you don't trust? Because..."
" Because what, Alexis?"
" I could have sworn that Bobbie was in love with you. I just didn't think she was capable of the level of duplicity that it would take for her to have been involved with Luke all that time."
" That just shows that Barbara is one of the best there is."
" I don't think you believe that anymore than I do."
Mrs. Lansbury enters the room.
" Mr. Danforth, Mr. Cassadine."
" Ah, Mr. Danforth. Would you please come in and sit down?"
" You requested that I come to see you today, Mr. Cassadine. May I ask why?"
" To inform you that I am still married to my wife. That Ms. Davis here has filed the proper papers for the dissolution to my divorce."
" Then may I presume that Mrs. Cassadine has returned here to Wyndermere. And if that's the case, then we can move up your hearing and I can interview her as soon as possible."
" No. Mrs. Cassadine has not moved back in. Not yet. But as Mr. Cassadine's attorney, we thought that you should be informed that legally, he is still married to Mrs. Cassadine."
" That is all well and good, Ms. Davis. But being a lawyer, you should know that being married just on paper is still fraud as far as the government is concerned. If, by the time of the hearing, Mrs. Cassadine has not returned to the marital place of residence, both Mr. Stefan and Nikolas Cassadine will be deported."
" I was wondering if it would be possible to change the date of the hearing?"
" What would you like, Ms. Davis? Move it up?"
" No, delay it a bit."
" No. The hearing will be as scheduled. Now, if you have nothing further to say, then I will be leaving. Good Day, Mr. Cassadine, Ms. Davis."
" Goodbye, Mr. Danforth. Ms. Davis will forward to you the papers.
Danforth leaves.
" You really didn't expect for him to give us an extension, did you Alexis?"
" No. But I thought it was worth a try. Well, you have your work cut out for you, Stefan. Danforth is right. All I did was file some papers. Bobbie is no closer to returning to you than she was before. If I may be blunt; last night, in her mind, was probably a once in a lifetime occurrance, one that I doubt she will want to repeat. I don't see her beating down your door, or even calling about it."
" Alexis, last night confirmed that Barbara and I still connect on a level. And that level has absolutely nothing to do with physical intimacy. I admit that I was surprised that it did still exist. That it was..."
" Was what?"
" Never mind. The point is, is that I believe that this is the time for me to strike. I think Barbara will be open to the the consideration of a reconciliation."
" And why is that?"
" The same reasons that she was open to a proposal to me before. Only this time, the situation is magnified by tenfold."
" Let's hope that you are right. I have to leave. I have a conference call to make. I will see you later. Bye."
" Bye."
They kiss and Alexis leaves. Stefan is left there thinking about the previous night. Thinking about Bobbie's eyes. Their fury, rage and incredible vulnerability. How, when they made love, it was as when the first time in the Dominican Republic, and that he felt that night that there was a part of him that had met her essence and vice versa. He thought that they could not lie to one another once in bed. But after her betrayal, he thought all of it had been an act on her part. But if that was true, how could she have lied last night of all nights? Stefan put the thoughts out of his mind, and attended to business. He made a few phone calls and thought about his next moves where Bobbie was concerned.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bobbie was sitting there staring at Lucas' picture when....

" Mommy, Mommy! We had such a good time!"

" You're back. So, you had a good time?"

" Yes. Mommy, have you been crying?"

" Yes, kiddo. I was just thinking about BJ and you...."

" Well, I 'm here. I know that you've been sad since BJ died, but I am not going anywhere. You told me that it was just the two of us, and that we had to watch out for one another."

" That I did. That I did. And I want you to know that I will protect you, no matter what."

" I know that. Felicia said that they were taking the kids to Chuck-EE-Cheeze, cause we had all been so good. Can I go?"

" Sure. Let me get you some money for games."

Bobbie goes to get her purse. Felicia comes in.

" Hi, Bobbie. Did Lucas...(notices Bobbie's eyes) tell you about dinner?"

" Yes, he did. I was going to give him the money for games, but I'll give it to you. Here."

" Thanks. Lucas, why don't you go and play with the girls, and let me talk to your Mom. I be there in a bit."

" OK. Bye Mommy."

Lucas gives her a kiss and goes.

" Bobbie, what's wrong."

" Felicia, so much that I don't know where to start.......No, that's wrong. I DO know where to start."

" And that's where?"

" With protecting Lucas."

" Huh? Protecting him, from what?....Bobbie?"

Bobbie goes over to her desk, and starts to rifle with the papers. She is looking for something. Completely ignoring Felicia, she tears into the desk and finds what she wants.

" You know Felicia, I will tell you all about this. I really will. But I have something that I must do. Right now. Just take care of Lucas, and make sure he has a good time, OK?"

" Fine. I can do that."

" Thanks. Well, I gotta go."

" OK. I'll take the kids.....Bobbie?"

" Yes."

" You take care of yourself."

" I always do. Now it's time to take care of Lucas."

Bobbie leaves Felicia in the Brownstone, with a puzzled look on her face.
