Mr. Immigration Man II, Chapter 17

Bobbie and Jerry arrive at the disco. They are escorted into a private room. The room has trick glass. They can see out onto the dance floor, but no one can see in. Jerry orders champagne for them.

" So, Mr. Jacks, do you want to tell me the story between you and my husband?"

" Well, I think you're having a drink with the man your husband hates most in this world."

Bobbie laughs.

" What's so funny."

" I KNOW the man Stefan hates most in this world, and it's not you."

" Well, then, I am #2."

" What happened between you and Stefan?"

" Oh, a series of deals between us. A rivalry that stretches back to when he was just the underling second son to that psycho Stavros."

" So, you and Stefan go WAY back."

" That we do. And I must say that you're not exactly Stefan's type."

" And what type is that?"

" Oh, when I ever saw him with a woman, it was the type when he said "Jump", she said, " How high?". So, tell me Bobbie, how did you become Mrs. Cassadine?"

" My efforvescent charm? My wit? Tell me, Mr. Jacks, what do you think?"

" I think that Stefan can't keep his eyes off you."

" So, I'm just another pretty face?"

" Hardly. A woman like you is a challenge to any man with an ego."

" And what kind of woman am I?"

" High maintenance....totally. So, why are you here with me?"

" To dance."

" There are all sorts of dances. Which one is your favorite?"

" I like them all. Love the tango, though."

" Very complicated, the tango. If you don't watch yourself and your moves, you can trip."

" But, it's the possiblities that make it so exciting."

" So true. You know, I am in the business of granting wishes."

" Do you think that I have a wish?"

" I don't know. But, I know that I have one."

" And it is?"

" To see you out of that dress."

" Well, you know what they say....wish upon a star."

" Makes no difference who you are..."

" You watched Disney as a child?"

" Didn't everyone?"

" What are we doing here?"

" Hopefully......foreplay."

Stefan is in the salon. He has taken his tuxedo jacket off and his shirt is unbuttoned. He has ordered vodka, and has been downing it. He goes to the telephone.

" Katherine Bell."

" Hello, Katherine."

" Stefan? I can't believe that you called. How are you? You must be miserable. I know that spending all that time with Bobbie must be torture for you. As you're trying to come up with excuses as to why you can't sleep with her."

" Yes, of course."

" You know I miss you. I think about you constantly. It is the same for you, isn't it?"

" Yes, Katherine."

" I had a feeling that you would be calling me."

" Why?"

" Because you needed someone to commiserate with you after you had to spend that awful wedding night with Bobbie. I know that it must have been uncomfortable, just going thru the motions with her."

" Yes. Well, Katherine, I must go. I believe I hear Barbara coming."

" Stefan, just remember that you'll be back in Port Charles soon. And we will be able to go to our cottage and spend precious time together."

" Goodbye Katherine."

The Jacks Yacht, "Rebel", almost at sunrise.

" I win again."

" No fair. You are a hustler, Bobbie. Plain and simple."

" Oh, please. Take your defeats like a man."

" I AM a man. But, it defies logic that we could play strip poker, with you in a Leger dress and I wind up the evening in nothing but my boxers."

" And what cute boxers they are. What is that design on them?"

" Why don't you come closer an inspect them?"

" No, I don't think so. I had a great time, Jerry. Tales of your adventures were so entertaining. You really lead an interesting life."

" I get the feeling that your life hasn't been dull."

" No. Life's been an adventure."

" Well, since we spent this past evening hearing my stories, why don't we spend this evening with your stories."

" Oh, so are you asking me..."

" Out on a date? Yes, Bobbie, I want to go out with you again."

(laughs) " This is downright hysterical."

" What is?"

" You asking me out on a date. I'm on my honeymoon."

" It's with Lestat. Is that supposed to mean anything to me?"

" No, I guess not. So, what are your motives? Am I a way to get back at Stefan?"

" I don't know what kind of man you're used to dealing with, but I keep my personal and professional lives seperate. I wanted you BEFORE I found out about Stefan. I don't see any sense in changing my feelings because you made a mistake."

" Who said I made a mistake?"

" You did when you walked away from your husband on my arm."

" How is it that I simply couldn't be using you?"

" I thought about it. But, if you were using me, we would have slept together last night."

" You think you know me so well, after a night?"

" No. But, I know women. Types of women."

" And what type of woman am I?"

" I'll leave that discussion for another day. Come on, the car is waiting for you."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Stefan is sitting in the salon when Bobbie arrives.
" I told you not to wait up."
" Who said that I was waiting up?"
" Stefan, please. You haven't changed. And I see that you partook of more than your share of vodka last night."
" And if I did?"
" Well, it's none of my business."
" Did you enjoy yourself, last night?"
" Actually, last night was the most fun that I've had in quite a while. So relaxing, and wonderful to be with someone where you don't have to guess ulterior motives."
" Barbara, don't be naive. Jerry Jacks invented entire new categories of ulterior motives. He wants you because you're married to me."
" Stefan, get over yourself. The world does not revolve around you. He wanted me BEFORE he knew that you were my husband. This is tiresome, Stefan. I'm exhausted and need some sleep. I didn't get any last night."
" Do you want everyone to know that you're running around like.."
" Like what, Stefan? Like a whore? I told you the first go round, IF I am a whore, I am one YOU still CAN'T afford."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Bobbie and Jerry are at a small restaurant, overlooking a cliff and a great view. Jerry has reserved the entire place just for them.

" So, do you always buy out the place on a second date?"

" No. I haven't done this in at least 10 years. For a second date."

" Oh. So I am special..."

" Very special. Tell me about yourself...Bobbie isn 't your real name, what is it?"

" I was born Barbara Jean Spencer."

" So, tell me, Barbara Jean Spencer, about your life."

" It wasn't pretty. That could be the epitaph on my grave. End of story."

" No. Not the end. Just the beginning. Give me your hand."

" Why?"

" Because I have, among other things, in my vast repertoire of talents, the ability to read palms."

" Oh. Are you any good?"

" I hope so. Cause I've been charging a fortune for it." They both laugh.

" So, Bobbie, where's the hand."

" I don't want to give it."

" Well, that's OK. I read faces too."

" A Face AND Hand man. Your talents know no boundaries."

" No, in fact, they are quite limitless. "

" You ego knows no boundaries either."

" So true. So, do you want a reading of your face."

" This worn out old thing?"

" Not worn out. Not at all. It's full of soul and depth and character. Your eyes, while warm, are sad. I doubt you've had many happy times, but enough to keep you going until the bad thing happens."

" I think that I've had enough of this."

" Is that what Stefan is? Something that's masquerading as a good thing...or is he the bad thing that you're living through."

" I said that was enough. The subject of my husband is off limits to you. I thought that you said that Stefan had nothing to do with you?"

" I lied. "

" Oh. So you are one of those assholes who is interested because I happen to be someone else's woman."

" Yes, I maybe an asshole, but you've never been 'someone else's woman' to me."

" Then who am I?"

" I think what I've been waiting for all my life."

(laughs) " OH, PULEEZE. You are going to tell me , that after knowing me 2 days, you can talk this ridiculously. I thought you were an arrogant jerk. Now, you're just a silly flake. I'm leaving."

Jerry grabs her arm. " Bobbie, don't go. Please. You're right. It's insane of me to talk this way. You don't know me from Adam. And I might tell this to everywoman that comes across my path. But, give me a chance. Spend some time with me."

" Spend some time with you? Don't you see this? (her wedding ring) I am married."

" And you're here with me. What does that say about your marriage? Give me a chance. Stay for dinner at least."

" Alright, dinner."

They have dinner, and then afterwards, they take a drive. Jerry takes her to what must be the very best view in all of the South of France. He spreads out a blanket, and they sit there, under the stars. The lie back , on the blanket, looking at the stars. Astronomy is one of his biggest interests, so they go from constellation to constellation. Slowly, Bobbie tells him the story of her life. She never looks at him, but she can feel his interest. His sympathy. It was almost like confessional. They sit there under the sky, until they fall asleep, and don't awaken until the sunrise.
