The Imposter; Chapter 3 (Evian)
by ejcrane

It was now the seventh week, and Eve had just one more week to be with the Crane’s. She didn’t want to leave.

Eve was looking for Julian, so she walked into the library, but found it empty, but just as she was about to leave, Julian walked in.

“Hello, darling,” he kissed her and backed her up against the edge of the desk.

“Julian,” she laughed, “I was just looking for you,” Eve wrapped her arms around his neck.

“I want you, Eve…it’s been so long,” he lifted her onto the desk and stepped in between her thighs.

“Julian, it’s only been since last night…”

“I know, but I want to make love to my wife every second of the day,” he kissed her neck and began unbuttoning her shirt.
---

“Eve, there’s someone on the phone for you,” Pilar announced.

“There is?” Eve asked as she walked out of the kitchen.

“Yes; it was strange, it sounded so much like you that I thought it was you,” she laughed.

Eve gasped. It was Evelyn! Pilar looked at her.

“Is everything okay?”

“Yes,” Eve smiled, “Everything’s fine.”

“I was in the library cleaning up when the phone rang, and I left the phone on hold when I went looking for you.”

Little did Pilar know that she had pushed the wrong button. She thought she had pushed the “hold” button on the phone, but instead she pushed the “speakerphone” button, hung up the receiver and went in search of Eve; and that’s when Eve and Julian found themselves in the library and made love on top of the desk, while her sister, Julian’s real wife, overheard.

“In the library?” Eve swallowed, “Are they still on the phone?”

“Well, I was looking for you, and the call came in about fifteen minutes ago. I suppose they could still be on there, but I wouldn’t know.”

“Yes, thank you, Pilar,” Eve said and rushed into the library where she picked up the phone and spoke, “H-e…h-ello?”

“Eve, darling,” Evelyn spoke, “WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN UP TO, TWIN SISTER?!” she screamed into the phone.

“E-e-evlyn, I-I-uh…haven’t been up to anything.”

“Ohh really?! ‘Ohh, Julian…yes, yes; ooh, God, Julian…,’” Evelyn breathed heavily as she mimicked her sister.

“Uh, um, I-…” Eve stuttered.

“Save it, Eve! Whatever you had with Julian is going to end now, you hear?! Listen up, you need to start packing soon, because I’ll be home soon. I’ll call you with the details,” she hung up the phone.

Eve hung up the receiver back onto the cradle. She then began walking out of the library as if in a daze. What was she to do? She didn’t want to go. She didn’t want to leave Julian or her sons. Eve had come to love them so much in such a short period of time.

Eve and Julian fell asleep that night, or that’s what it appeared. Julian was holding Eve as usual, when she turned over to face him. He was out like a light, but Eve just stared at his beautiful face. She smiled and moved a stray hair from his forehead. Eve placed kiss on his lips and then kissed his chin; then pulled him to her and hugged him.

“I love you, Julian,” she whispered in a shaky voice.

“Eve?” Julian woke, “What’s wrong?” he said groggily.

“Shhh, honey…just dream with me; dream with me,” she whispered as she closed her eyes and fell asleep in his arms.
---

The next day was another shock for Eve. Evelyn called once more, but this time she said that she was in Harmony. She made it clear to Eve that it was time to “hit the road”. Eve was to pack while Julian was at work and while the kids were at school, and then she was to leave, while Evelyn came back to the mansion to take her place as Mrs. Julian Crane again.

Just as Julian was about to leave for the day, he received a message saying that David wanted him to meet him at his house. So, Julian was just going to swing by David’s first, before going home.

Julian pulled into the driveway at David’s home, got out of the car, and walked up the walkway. Julian was just about to knock on the door, when he saw that it was a bit ajar. He thought about just walking in, but thought he would be intruding if he didn’t knock, but just as he was about to knock on the door with his knuckles, he heard moaning…a woman’s moaning.

“He’s watching those kinds of movies, and he can’t even shut the door right to give himself some privacy,” Julian shook his head as he laughed to himself.

Julian then opened the door quietly and stepped in. He was going to embarrass his friend for watching X-rated movies, but when he stepped into the living area, he was the one that got the shock of a lifetime. It was Eve! Eve was sitting in David’s lap, her back against his chest, as he entered her from behind.

“Da-a-v-v-id, oh, oh, oh!” Eve cried out as he thrust into her over and over, “You’ve always been the one…it’s never been this way with, Julian…Ooh, David…yes, yes, yes!” she moaned.

“EVE!” Julian shouted from behind the couple.

Eve froze, and then got up really fast and turned around to come face to face with her husband.

“Julian, sweetie, this isn’t what it looks like,” she held up her blouse to her chest.

“I never thought you would do this to me,” Julian’s voice broke, “And YOU!” he looked to David, “I thought you were my FRIEND?! BASTARD!” he leaped for David.

Julian beat the sh*t out of David that night, and just before he left, he told Eve not to bother coming home.

Eve waited for her sister at some hotel just outside of Harmony, so she could fill her in on what had been happening in the Crane household during her absence, but Evelyn never showed up. She was going to wait a few more minutes and then if she didn’t hear from Evelyn, she would just go back to the mansion until further notice. Her cell phone rang. It was Evelyn.

“Eve, I’m sorry, but I’m not going to be able to make it. Why don’t we do this tomorrow; and that’ll give me more time to get used to being back…okay?”

“Sure, Evelyn,” Eve rolled her eyes; her sister was always doing this, she could never be prompt for anything, “Okay, I’ll see you here tomorrow at the same time…bye.” She hung up her phone, threw it in her purse, and then left the hotel restaurant and headed for the mansion.
---

Julian arrived at the mansion heartbroken. He stepped into the library and fixed himself a drink. First thing tomorrow he was going to file the papers for divorce. He couldn’t believe Eve would betray him this way; with his own friend. Julian lifted the glass to his lips, when he heard the door open and close. He put down the glass and walked over to the door. Just as he peeked out, he saw Eve about to walk up the stairs when he called out to her…

“Just what the hell do you think you’re doing here, damn sl*t!” Julian shouted.

Eve stopped, turned in place and faced Julian.

“Julian, what are you talking about?” she asked totally confused.

“Oh, now you’re going to play this game, hmm?” he walked up to her and grabbed her arm, squeezing it hard.

“Julian, what is the matter with you?! You’re hurting me,” she tried to wriggle from his tight grasp.

“I thought I told you not to ever step foot in here ever again?!” he gritted his teeth as he spoke.

What was Julian talking about? Eve was confused until her sister walked through the front door.

Julian turned towards Evelyn and then towards Eve and was stunned.

“What the hell is going on here?!” he let Eve’s arm go and then faced Evelyn.

Evelyn was dressed with blue jeans and a casual shirt, something she never ever wore, and she also had a scarf around her head.

“Julian, honey,” she ran to him and embraced him, “Finally, I’m done with the treatments; they said this time it should work,” she smiled sadly, “Oh, I see you’ve met my sister, Eve,” Evelyn looked to Eve, “I hope you don’t get upset with me, but I begged Eve to stay with you and the boys to take my place while I was recovering. I just didn’t want you all to see me like this,” she turned away from him and touched her head; insinuating her hair loss.

“Evelyn?” Julian finally spoke, “This is you?” he turned her around to him, “You’ve been in Houston this whole time?” she nodded her head to him, “And you…YOU acted as if you were her?! You came into this house and tricked all of us?! You never told me my wife was in another state suffering by herself, without her husband and kids!”

“But…I-I…” Eve tried to speak.

“What kind of cruel person are you! How could you?!” Julian looked to Eve with disgust as he embraced his wife, while Evelyn smiled on the other side.

“Julian, no…don’t be upset with Eve; she didn’t mean any harm…she was just to take my place as your wife…”

Julian’s mind went back to the intimate times between him and Eve. He then remembered just a few hours before; she was with his own best friend. Eve had been with him and David the whole time she and he arrived from Houston! Julian was LIVID!

“Evelyn, dear, you probably are tired from the long trip, and the excessive treatments you’ve been enduring…I want you to go up to OUR room, and I’ll be up to join you in a bit,” he gave her a little nudge towards the stairs, “I want to have a talk with your sister…EVE,” he said as he glared straight at her.

Evelyn made her way upstairs and smiled mischievously to herself. Her plan had worked.

“That’s what you get, Eve darling,” she said to herself, “You f*** me over in any way, and now you know not to mess with me…or with my husband! Did you really think that I wouldn’t find out about you and Julian?” Evelyn spoke to a picture she clearly recognized as Eve, “Well, now he won’t want anything to do with you, since he thinks that you were the one with David,” she laughed evilly.
---

“I want you to get the hell out of my house! I don’t want you to ever come back into our lives,” he said without emotion.

“Julian…please, let me explain,” Eve cried.

“Explain? Oh, you want to explain how you were with David and me at the same time? You want to explain how I caught you with him just an hour ago, hmm?”

“What?! I was never with him; he was always hitting on me…”

“So, you give in to any man that shows you a bit of attention,” he scoffed, “Well, why am I not surprised? You did the same thing to me…and how easy it was to get you to spread your legs!”

Eve gasped and then slapped Julian hard across the face.

Julian exploded after she did that. He backed her up against the wall and got up in her face.

“Don’t you ever…EVER lay a hand on me again, do you hear?!” he spat.

Eve was frightened; her breathing was rapid. Julian could smell her breath; he could taste her…He WANTED her.

“Get out,” he simply said.

But Eve didn’t move; she was too in shock.

“Oh, you don’t want to go, huh?” Julian advanced on her, “You want something for the road?” his hand caressed her cheek roughly.

Eve slapped it away.

“Stop it, Julian…”

“What’s the matter, Eve? Now you don’t want to act as my wife,” he dipped his head low and began kissing Eve’s neck violently.

“Stop!” Eve cried and pushed on his chest, “What are you going to do to me?! Rape me?!” she pounded his chest with her fists, “Huh?! Rape me, Julian…rape me, if that’s what’ll make you feel good,” she cried.

Julian then backed away when he heard those words come from Eve’s mouth. Never would he ever violate any woman, much less Eve. He would’ve never hurt her. How dare she?!

“How dare you insinuate that I’d rape you?!” Julian huffed, “You came to me willingly, every time we were together, you little wh*re!”

That was the last straw for Eve. She swung back her hand and then forward again and slapped Julian once more across his face.

“You weren’t what I thought you were,” she cried, “How I could ever have fallin…” she didn’t finish her sentence and shook her head.

Eve then took off the ring she wore on her left ring finger.

“Why don’t you give that to your REAL wife,” she threw it at Julian and then ran out of the mansion.

Julian got outside just in time to see Eve get into the limo and drive off…

“Eve…” he whispered, “No…NO! She squirmed her way into my family; into my life…it’s good that she’s gone,” he said as he watched the limo turn out of the driveway.

Eve sobbed in the back of the limo. How did she ever get in this situation? Why did she have to fall for Julian Crane? And her sister…how could she set her up like that?

“No…NO! If he had ever cared for me, he wouldn’t have treated me this way…it’s good that he’s out of my life,” she cried into her hands.
---

Julian went upstairs to his and Evelyn’s bedroom. He opened the door and didn’t find her in the bedroom, but heard the water to the shower turn off, so he made his way over to the bed and sat on the edge. Evelyn had come out of the bathroom without any clothes on and began digging in her drawers for something to sleep in. Julian just stared at her. Eve never walked around without any clothes on. He remembered everything that she did. In the little time that she was gone, Julian already missed her.

Evelyn turned around to face him.

“You know, I missed you,” she smiled and then walked to him.

“You…you did?” Julian stuttered, “Listen, Evelyn, there’s something you need to know about me and Eve…”

“Shh,” she placed her index finger to his lips, “I don’t want to know what you are going to tell me; you thought she was me…I get the picture, but I’m here now,” she sat in his lap and began kissing his neck.

Julian pulled her face to his and began kissing her. Evelyn then pushed him onto his back and laid atop of him. Their tongues found each other…

“Wait, no…no,” he pushed her off of him, “I can’t do this,” he got up off the bed and stood.

“What’s the matter?” Evelyn knelt on the bed.

“I-I don’t know…” Julian combed a hand through his hair.

“Oh my God,” she let out a laugh, “You’re in love with my sister; you fell for Eve,” she began crying, “I can’t believe this; I tried to do something good, so you and the boys wouldn’t suffer seeing me like this…and you go and fall for Eve,” she began sobbing.

“Love Eve?” Julian laughed, “Honey, that’s ridiculous, come here, I love you and only you. If I have any feelings for her, it’s because I thought she was you,” he pulled her close, “I’m just tired, and I have to get to the office early in the morning,” he set her aside and walked into the restroom to change into something to sleep in.

When Julian came out, Evelyn looked up and stared at him, dumbfounded.

“What?”

“You’re…you’re wearing clothes to sleep?” she noted.

“Oh, yes, yes, I am…it’s a bit chilly tonight, wouldn’t you say?” he crawled into bed.

“No, I’m kind of hot,” she pulled the covers off of her to reveal her nude body.

Julian briefly smiled and then pulled the covers over him, with his back towards her.

“Julian, I thought maybe you could hold me tonight?”

“Huh? Oh, yeah, sure dear,” he turned over and slowly wrapped his arms around his wife’s nude form.

Julian remembered doing this with Eve every night. But it just didn’t feel the same way. Something wasn’t there…the love wasn’t there. As soon as Evelyn drifted off to sleep, Julian slipped his arms from around her and turned back on his other side and fell asleep…thinking of Eve; how she betrayed him and how it was just an act for her.
---

A week passed and Julian was still keeping his distance from Evelyn and she didn’t like that. Tonight was the night Evelyn was going to make love to her husband. The kids also noticed a difference in their mom. They missed their other mother’s personality more.

That evening, Julian had fallen asleep on top of their bed, when Evelyn came in, stripped and climbed upon him. As she kissed his chest, Julian began to come to.

“What? What’s going on?” Julian sat upright to find Evelyn in his lap.

“I want us to make love, Julian,” she kissed his lips.

Julian hadn’t been with his wife since she got back and was overwhelmed with lust for her or how she looked, for she was the exact replica of Eve.

He had kissed her lips, and then her neck as her hands reached for his zipper. His eyes traveled to the mirror behind them until they stopped on the reflection of Evelyn’s back. What he saw was her birthmark. There was something about her birthmark, but he couldn’t remember…but then as he glanced at it once more, everything came flooding back. It was her; it was Evelyn!

“EVE!” Julian shouted from behind the couple.

Eve froze, and then got up really fast and turned around to come face to face with her husband.

“Julian, sweetie, this isn’t what it looks like,” she held up her blouse to her chest.

It was as Evelyn stood up from being in David’s lap, that Julian saw the birthmark on her back. It hadn’t been Eve. It was Evelyn the whole time; she set Eve up!

“You little b*tch,” Julian threw her off of him and onto the bed, “IT WAS YOU, WASN’T IT?! YOU were the one with David, not Eve!” he pointed to her, “GET OUT OF MY HOUSE!”
---

Julian threw Evelyn out of the house, and then he filed for divorce. He wanted to be free of that woman and moved the divorce hearing up, but when he spoke to his lawyer, he got some news that he just couldn’t believe. Julian Crane and Evelyn Johnson were never married, but Julian was…
