The Imposter II (an alternate version), Chapter 11 (Evian)
by ejcrane
Over the next few weeks, Eve noticed how her husband and son barely spoke
to one another. She became very concerned and wondered about that night,
but neither Chad nor Julian ever confessed or admitted anything.
“I’ll see you in a week, Chad…” Julian called out to him.
“Yeah, yeah…a week…bye.” He waved and ran up the stairs after he said his
‘goodbyes’ to his mom and Julian.
“Don’t worry about him, honey. I think I know what’s been troubling him
these past few weeks…”
“Oh,” Julian raised a brow, “You do?” he asked, curious to what Eve’s theory
was.
“Well, Tc died around this time…he’s probably just thinking about him…”
“Tc? Who’s that, darling?” he asked as he stared out of the window of the
plane.
“Chad and Simone’s father…my first husband…ring a bell?”
Hearing how this “Tc” was associated with Eve, made his blood boil. This
man was dead, and Julian couldn’t help but feel jealousy.
“Oh, yeah. I’m sorry, Eve, my mind is just so scattered at the moment,
with worrying about the kids and then this problem with CI in Mexico…”
“I understand.” She patted his hand, “Would you excuse me, I have to go
to the restroom,” she stood, “I just hope one is unoccupied; how you convinced
me to fly commercial instead of the jet, I don’t know,” she laughed and
made her way into the aisle.
Julian hated using the jet. Julien had always been the “big spender”, while
he had always settled for practical things.
Five minutes had passed, and then ten, when Eve hadn’t returned. Worrying,
he decided to go look for her.
There was only one restroom that was occupied, so he knocked on the door.
“Eve? Are you in there?”
“Yes, Julien! The door’s stuck!” she banged on the door.
He finally yanked it open and laughed at her startled look.
“Aww, was somebody scared?”
“Yes! Get me out of here!”
“Not so fast,” he backed her up into the confined space and locked the
door behind them.
“Julien! What are you doing?!”
“Making love to my wife in an airplane lavatory,” he picked her up and
held her against the wall.
The talk about Tc had just gotten to him, and Julian wanted Mr. Tc out
of HIS wife’s head.
With her heels banging on the door, the passengers turned towards the back
of the plane and wondered what was happening in the restrooms, until…both
Julian and Eve came out, drenched in sweat. Eve straightened her skirt and
blouse while Julian reached for the jacket thrown over his shoulder and
put it on.
“Oh, darling,” he reached into his pocket, “You forgot your panties,” he
shouted out to Eve, who was walking in front of him at a fast pace.
She stopped in place, felt herself blush, and then began walking again,
while the passengers continued to watch and whistle at them…
“I want to be with you again,” she whispered into his ear.
“I guess we could sneak back to the rest…”
“No…here,” her eyes glittered.
“But everyone’s asleep…”
“Exactly…” she reached for his pants and unbuttoned them.
“Eve,” he grabbed her hands.
“You only live once, right?”
“Eve?”
“Here, unfold this,” she tossed him a blanket that the stewardesses gave
them in first class.
Julian did as he was told and then watched as Eve raised her skirt and
sat upon him, in his lap.
“Eve…” he growled.
“I need you, Julien!” she began moving her hips while her hands held the
blanket over them.
“You’re wild, Dr. Crane…you’re wild…” he said into her hair, his hands
rubbing her thighs, lower abdomen, “You think our little one will be as
wild as you…” he asked as he directed her movements.
“I hope not…” she moaned.
“I’m always going to remember this day…” he sighed, “In fact, don’t ever
wear underwear on Friday’s anymore, darling…” he joked.
The two were now in their hotel room, and were fast asleep. While at the
meeting Julian had the next morning, Eve was going to wait for him in their
room.
Well, the next morning, Julian left, and Eve stayed in bed…
Noon-time came, and she was sitting at the desk, surfing the internet,
when…
“Oh, you’re back so soon, honey?” she smiled.
“Yes…everything’s settled here, and now we can return home, darling…”
Arriving at their home back in Harmony, Eve walked in and called out to
the kids, explaining why their trip was cut short while her husband made his
way into the library.
Eve followed after him, as did Chad. There was just something about him
that was…different.
Julien looked up from his desk and stared at Eve.
“Eve, you’re beginning to look a bit pudgy…don’t you think that you should
diet some?” he looked back down at the papers on his desk and began writing
something down.
And that’s when Chad gasped!
Eve never noticed her son’s reaction, for she herself was thrown off by
Julien’s comment.
“What is the matter with you, Chad?” Julien asked his stepson.
“Nothing,” he swallowed and kept his eyes on the pen, which was in his
stepfather’s LEFT hand.
“Well, if you two don’t mind,” he stood and walked around the desk, “I’m
going to need some privacy…I have calls to make,” he shoved Eve and Chad
out of the library.
Hurt by the sudden change in her husband, Eve sadly walked up the stairs
to her bedroom.
Just then, Pilar came and wanted to speak to Julian about how his meeting
went in Mexico. Chad watched as she was about to knock on the door, when
Julien opened it and looked down on her.
“Yes, may I help you?”
“Yes, Julian, I wanted to…”
“Excuse me? Since when are we on first-name basis?”
“Well, since…” she paused and looked behind Julien to Chad who was waving
his hands ‘no’.
Julien turned to look at Chad.
“Do you have a problem?”
“No…”
“Good, let’s keep it that way, now, if you two will excuse me, I have to
tell Eve that I have another trip. This time…alone.”
They watched as Julien walked up the stairs and disappeared.
“That’s not him,” Chad shook his head, “That’s the real one,” he said sadly,
“They must’ve swapped in Mexico, without mom knowing…”
Pilar sighed.
“…he didn’t even say ‘goodbye’.” Chad looked down.
“But we just got back home, Julien! And now you have to go…?”
“I’m sorry, Eve…that’s just how it is!” he packed his suitcase and left
the room.
“And why can’t I go with you this time?”
“You just can’t, damnit! I’ll see you in a week!” he chuckled inside.
Julian would be arriving in a week…arriving to the mess he created.
And soon, the front door slammed behind him, leaving an Eve, Chad, and
Pilar puzzled.
Why was he leaving again, Chad thought.
Back in Mexico, Julian had arrived in his room around three that afternoon,
planning on taking Eve out to shop for baby clothes and out to eat, but
she was nowhere to be found. His eyes suddenly noticed a note on the desk.
His name was on it.
“A message from the front desk? Must be from Eve; she probably went out…”
It had been a message from the front desk, stating that Eve had flown back
to Harmony, due to bug Simone had come down with.
Poor Simone, Julian thought. He missed his little girl…and his boy; he
smiled as his mind remembered their faces.
Picking up the phone to make a call to the states, Julian’s cell phone
began ringing and there was another meeting that he had to attend. Setting
the phone back down, he decided that he’d call his family when he got to
the hotel again…
Little did he know, it wouldn’t be easy to reach them…
Exactly a week later, Julian walked up the steps to the mansion and in
the front door.
Eve had just made her way from the kitchen and was about to walk up the
stairs when she saw him.
“Eve, darling…” he smiled and opened up his arms to her, but all he received
was a hard slap across his face, “Ow! What the hell was that for?!” he rubbed
his cheek…
