Chapter 2

"She did what?!" Stefan demanded coldly. Jonas looked at his feet, this was humiliating. He could happily kill Caroline at this moment.

" Where is she now?" Stefan demanded again.

" We don’t exactly know sir, I have my men out looking for her, but she said that she was on her way home," Jonas answered appealingly.

" How did you, lose sight of her in the first place? You were with her weren’t you?"

"Yes, I was sir" Jonas answered humbly.

" Then how come she isn’t with you now?" His employer snapped angrily.

" Well sir, she said that she was leaving for home, and since the driver had been ordered not to leave without both of you, and there wasn’t any public transportation around, I figured she would not be able to go anywhere. So I let her go." Jonas explained, realizing even as he spoke how stupid his explanation was in reference to Caroline.

" This is my niece we are talking about, you actually thought she would not be able to find a way out of here if given the chance?" Stefan snapped pointing out the obvious.

" Find her!" he dismissed the guard with a wave of his hand and went to excuse himself to the hostess.

"Yes sir" Jonas rushed away. He was going to invest in a pair of handcuffs. At least he would know where she was then!

Somewhere in Port-Charles

" We haven’t been formally introduced," Sonny reached out his hand. " I am Michael Corinthos, but everyone calls me Sonny" he smiled flashing his dimples.

Caroline smiled, so this was ‘The Sonny Corinthos’ lord of the criminal underworld, she placed her hand in his " Caroline, nice to meet you Sonny".

" Caroline? No last name, or nickname?" He asked not letting go of her hand. He inquired watching her closely.
She merely shrugged.

" How about Carly?" Sonny asked with a raised brow continuing to watch her.
Caroline laughed softly in response taking her hand to smooth some of the hair that had escaped from the pin in her hair.

" You have been grilling Johnny I see." She stated. He watched her quietly.

" So is that your name?"

" Sure why not, you may call me Carly," she laughed good-naturedly.

Sonny nodded quietly. When he had been entering his Limo and she had asked for a ride it had seemed like a good idea to give her a ride to wherever she was going, he would have the chance to find out more about her. But he wasn’t sure anymore. She obviously had secrets and from what he had heard of ‘Carly Benson’s’ last visit he wasn’t sure he wanted to know what they are. She was obviously playing a game with him, but he wasn’t sure if he wanted to play, well at least not until he knew the rules.

"So where are we taking you?" he inquired leaning back in his seat.

"How about to Jason’s?" she answered with a raised brow. Sonny frowned and shook his head.

" Why not?" she challenged.

" I don’t think his girl-friend would like that." He stated tartly.

" Oh really? Why would she have a problem with my going to see my friend?" she challenged.

" Probably because you guys were ‘friends’ not friends," he stated with an underlying question.

" We were?" she asked laughter in her eyes.
" You tell me," he challenged. She merely shrugged and looked out of the window. She watched the quiet landscape and sighed. Her cell- phone rang and she turned from the window to answer it.

" Hello?"

" Caroline where are you?" an angry voice demanded.

" In a car, why?" she asked purposefully playing dumb. As expected Stefan was spitting mad. At least from what she could tell from his tone.

" Stop being obtuse! And answer my question," Stefan snapped.

" Calm down, I got bored and decided to leave early," she said in an annoyingly calm voice.

" I do not care about the reason you left, I just want you to go home this minute" he said with a low eerie growl.

" I am on my home, don’t worry I will be there in an hour!" she answered. She could tell she was in for it.

"An ho—" before he could finish she snapped her phone closed, and placed it back in her bag. She looked up at her companion who had been listening to her end of the conversation.

" Problems?" he inquired watching her keenly. He wondered who she had been talking to, but he wasn’t going to ask.

" Not really," she waved it off. " So are you taking me to Jason’s or what?" she sat back expectantly. When she saw him begin to shake his head she offered "You can play chaperone if you want" looking at him with a guileless expression. He ignored it.

"Don’t you think it is kind of late to be busting in on him?"

" Late? It is only 11:30 he’s up" she responded assuredly.

" And what if he isn’t up alone?" he pointed out.

" You mean what if he’s with this girl-friend," she asked with a wave of her hand.

" Yeah, what if he is with her?" he pushed.

" Is he?" she turned the line of questioning to him with a pointed look.
He opened his mouth to say yes then hesitated at her look. She smiled.
"That’s what I thought". Sonny watched her for a minute. She was right, Robin was out of town on a convention. He knew that Jason would never risk their relationship again. So what harm would it do to take her there? He opened the glass window between him and the driver.

"Francis lets go to HaborView,"

Meanwhile…..
Cassadine Limo

Stefan turned to Jonas. " You might as well call back your men," there was no use having them running around looking for his wayward niece. She would be home when she was ready. She knew better than to draw out this thing. He silently cursed his mother for being overindulgent with the girl.

" Are you sure sir?" Jonas asked cautiously. Stefan just turned a cold quieting glance at him and he quickly picked up his phone to do as asked.

HaborView Apartments

" Hmm...nice place," Caroline looked around the lavish building lobby. It seemed as if Jason had finally decided to spend his money on himself. Sonny just smiled. And led her to the elevator, Johnny and Francis following behind. When they were in the elevator, she turned to Sonny.

" So Sonny, what is it you do for a living?" she asked passing time as she watched the numbers on the elevator pad change. Sonny lifted his brow at her question and Johnny frowned. Sonny just sat leaned back with a small smile "Why don’t you guess?" He knew she knew exactly what he did, but two could play this stupid game.

She glanced around with laughter in her eyes. He was loosening up. The elevator doors sprung open before she could answer him. Sonny led the way to Jason’s door and opened it without bothering to knock. Jason looked up from his desk.

" Hey, Sonny, how was your night?" he got up and moved towards his friend. Sonny shrugged " Business was okay, I brought someone to se—"

" JASE!" Caroline rushed in with a big grin her arms outstretched.

"Carly?….Carly!" Jason moved forward with a big smile of his own enveloping her in a big hug. He planted a big kiss on her head and pulled back slightly and smiling down at her face " When did you get back in town?!"

Caroline leaned back into his hands " 3 days ago, I would have called you sooner but I was told that you moved out of your old place," she glanced around the room. " I like this new place though it is an improvement," she grinned. And he grinned back they both knew it was more than an improvement. The penthouse was heaven compared to the tiny dingy apartment he had been living in six months ago.

Sonny watched them with a frown and cleared his throat. The both turned to look at him. Jason released her and turned to his friend " I assume you guys introduced yourselves?" he said pointing between them. Sonny nodded.

" Yes, we did. Sonny here is going to play chaperone, you know to make sure I don’t take advantage of you or anything," Caroline smiled wickedly, tracing Jason’s arm for emphasis. Jason raised his brow towards Sonny in amusement. Sonny frowned again rubbing the back of his head absently. " I’ll let you guys catch up," he headed for the door " It was nice meeting you, I assume I’ll see you around," He nodded his head towards Caroline.

"You bet! We can finish our little ‘guess what I do game’" she joked.

" Johnny will take you home whenever you are ready to leave," he added not responding to her taunt. " I’ll fill you in tomorrow" he pointed to Jason and then left the penthouse.

" ‘Guess what I do game’?"

" Nothing really….I think your friend likes me," she waved in towards the closed door looking at it with contemplation even as she sank to the couch. Sonny? Jason thought…..nah…..she wasn’t his type. He sat down next to her.

" So what brings you back to Port-Charles?"

" Why you of course," she flirted, leaning back on the couch. He just waited. She sighed and leaned forward.

" I need you to help me find out if Bobbie Spencer is my mother" she answered seriously.

Seven a.m. next morning….

Sonny was on his way out to the warehouse. He had just closed his door when he saw Renaldo and a tired looking Johnny leaning against the hall next to each other. He frowned in puzzlement and looked down at his watch. It was seven o’clock.

" Johnny didn’t your shift end at three this morning"

" Yes, sir" the guard answered standing up straight.

" Then what are you still doing here?" Sonny demanded. He liked his men rested.

" You told me to make sure that Ms. Benson got home," He shrugged.
" And?" Sonny moved his hands impatiently.

" Well, Renaldo is on this shift alone till ten, he can’t just leave to take her home. So I am waiting." Johnny explained.

" Huh? What are you…." Sonny was about to get Johnny to speak clearly when Jason’s door opened to reveal a slightly disheveled Caroline. She was still in the dress she had been wearing last night. She looked like she had had a long night.

Caroline looked at the men standing in the hall. She smiled politely " Good-morning gentlemen,"
" Morning, Ms. Benson" Johnny and Renaldo both answered. Sonny just glared in response. What was she still doing here? Jason couldn’t have…

Caroline saw his glare and sighed. Well, this day was out to a great start. She turned to Johnny " Hey, can I get that ride home now?"
" Of course," the guard started forward towards the elevator, and she followed " Have a nice day guys," Sonny watched her get into the elevator then turned to look at Jason’s closed door. He forgot about going to the warehouse and went in to find out what exactly his friend was thinking!
