New Beginnings, Chapter 67
Eve was sitting in the living room reading when her cellphone rang. She
saw the number.
“ Julian?”
“ Hello, Eve. You said that we couldn’t see one another anymore.”
“ That’s right.”
Julian sighed. “ But, I thought you should know, Chad’s going on a long
business trip.”
“ For Crane Industries?”
“ Yes. “
“ And, he’s going with that Townsend girl.”
“ Yes……Eve…”
“ Yes?”
“ What is it with you and Veronica Townsend?”
“ Me and Veronica? I’ve never even met the girl.”
“ EXACTLY! You haven’t met her, yet everytime she’s brought up, you…you
have an attitude about her.”
“ Alistair brought her in; isn’t that enough for an attitude?”
“ At first, I would agree with that. But, I know you too well, Eve. There’s
something more. “
“ It’s none of your concern, Julian.”
“ If it has to do with OUR son, Eve, I need to know.”
“ Look, you have a front row seat to Ms. Townsend and Chad, so I’m trusting
that you’re doing the right thing.”
“ Of course I am. But, if you knew something I didn’t….”
“ I don’t. Just protect him.”
“ I will.”
“ You….you think that she’s after him romantically?”
“ After today? Yes, I’m sure of it. I’m sure that this trip is just one
planned long seduction of our son.”
“ I thought he was committed to Theresa.”
“ He is..it’s just…”
“ What?”
“ Veronica is beautiful, smart and rich. She’s used to getting everything
she’s ever wanted. She’s not the type of woman to let a relationship with
the Housekeeper’s Daughter get in her way. She’s not to be underestimated.”
“ You’ve got that right.”
“ See! YOU DO know something!”
“ I don’t know anything….should we warn Chad?”
“ No. He’s a grown man, Eve. He’s not stupid or naïve. I’m sure
he’s picked up on the vibes from Veronica. If he has a relationship with her,
we have to respect it. Even if it’s what Alistair wants, that doesn’t make
it bad if it’s what Chad wants too.”
“ I suppose…”
“ How are you?”
“ I’m fine. My baby is fine.”
“ I’m happy for you. If anything else comes up, I’ll call you. Bye.”
“ Bye.”
Chad was studying research reports when he felt arms come up around him.
“ I thought you had class tonight.”, he said, as he pulled Theresa in his
lap.
“ The professor cancelled. And, I thought I should spend as much time with
you as possible, since we’re going to be separated for so long.” Theresa kissed
Chad passionately. As she kissed him, he began to undo her blouse.
“ You sure you wanna do this.”, Theresa said, in between kisses. Chad only
responded by sliding Theresa’s blouse off her shoulders, and then with
a quickness, had his hands under her skirt, sliding down her panties. Theresa
responded by unbuckling his pants. Soon he was thrusting inside her.
“ Damn, woman, I missed you.”
“ Oh…I know.”
Theresa and Chad continued at a frenzied rhythm until they climaxed. Chad
smiled at Theresa and whispered in her ear…
“ You know, I’d really like to take my time now.”, he said as he led her
upstairs.
The Russell family was sitting around the dinner table when Whitney spoke
up.
“ Guess who has a new Black Range Rover?”
“ Who Princess?”, TC replied.
Eve knew the answer, but said nothing.
“ Theresa.”
“ Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald? Where did she get the money for a Range Rover?”
“ That’s obvious, Daddy. Chad bought it for her.”, Simone replied, in between
bites.
“ Yes. She was only SO happy to tell me how CHAD had bought her the car.”
“ Theresa’s taking gifts like that from that Crane boy? Pilar needs to talk
to her.”
“ TC, Theresa is a grown woman. And, Chad is not ‘that Crane boy’. He’s
no different than when he lived here.”
“ The hell he isn’t, Eve. Giving women expensive gifts…I wonder what Theresa
had to ‘give up’ to get it.”
“ TC! Enough! Chad isn’t a bad person. And Theresa is his girlfriend. That’s
how Cranes seem to express themselves. Whitney- Chad isn’t your boyfriend
anymore.”
“ I know that.”
“ Do you? Well, act like it. Theresa’s gone through a lot of bad things,
so I thought you’d be happy for her. I know it hurt when you found out that
they were together, but you told me that you were over it. As for Chad, I’m
thrilled that he found a relationship with someone who knew him BEFORE he
found out he was a Crane. I know that Theresa must enjoy the benefits of being
with a Crane, but the fact is- when Chad had nothing, Theresa was his friend.
So, now, when he’s doing well, why shouldn’t she benefit? All this gossiping
and Crane bashing is giving me a headache. Please change the topic.”
The rest of the table looked at Eve. Simone shrugged her shoulders. “ Well,
I was wondering if we could discuss me getting a new computer.”
