Chapter 35 Changes
Chad stared at the woman in front of him. "Why are you here?" He almost
yelled.
"Chad, no need to yell." Carrie said pushing past him as she entered
his home.
"Deep breaths man, deep breath’s." Chad told himself as he followed
Carrie in.
"Carrie, one more time. What are you doing here?"
Carrie sighed. "I came to see my little girl. I’m here because of Jada."
"Jada? Jada? You want to see the child you left 5 years ago? Are you
trying to tell me you came back because you missed my child?" Chad yelled.
"Our child Chad. And yes, I missed her. I’ve changed Chad, and I want
Jada to know that."
Chad shook his head. "She doesn’t know you! How can you prove you’ve
changed when she has no clue who you are? Carrie, you left me and my baby
when she was tiny. You can’t just come back now like its all better. "
Chad shouted looking at her with pain and bitterness in his eyes.
"Chad will you calm down? Look I know its been awhile, and I’m sorry."
Carrie said reaching out to touch his arm.
"Don’t you touch me! How can you act all innocent? Girl do you know
how hard this has been on me? I wasn’t ready to raise a kid on my own.
But I did it, because she’s my child, my angel. I’ve been the one there
for her so don’t come running back now like its all cool."
"I see you haven’t lost that temper. Chad will you hear me out?"
"No Carrie, in fact I want you out now!" He said pointing to the door.
"Chad I have rights." Carrie said her voice rising for the first time.
Chad let out an angry laugh. "Rights? You have rights? Carrie in case
you forgot you abandoned your child, I am the only person who has rights
to that child. You don’t hold any kind of rights to her."
"I was young Chad, I made a mistake."
"Oh don’t you give me that one, you are two years older than me Carrie.
You wanted to be some fancy model and a kid got in the way. Why don’t you
just admit it. You left me and Jada so you could prance around on a runway
and smile for the cameras."
Carrie frowned. "Fine! I left so I could be a model. I told you that
then, but things have changed now."
Chad shook his head. "Oh I get ya, you’ve lost your glam job huh? Is
that it Carrie? No more modeling so you figured you’d just come on home
to me and Jada? Well you lost your place here too, because we don’t need
you. "
"I gave birth to that child, I have the right to see her." Carrie yelled
back at him.
"Oh is that right? Well can you tell me this? What does she look like?
Do you have any idea what she even looks like now? Or better yet, what’s
her favorite food? What about her favorite color? Do you know anything
about the child you gave birth too? " Chad said raking his hands in his
hair. His face was a bright red and he could feel anger in him like never
before.
"All I know is I’ve been away for way to long."
"You should have never left." Chad said taking a deep breath.
"Daddy?" A tiny voice suddenly called out from the stairs. Looking
up Chad felt his heart drop.
"Jada? Oh baby you’re beautiful." Carrie cried.
"Daddy who’s the pretty lady?" Jada questioned looking up at Chad for
all the answers, but this time he had none.

Julian Crane stood staring at the walls of his home. "Things can change
so fast." He sighed. He couldn’t help but wonder if he was doing the right
thing. If his huge surprise would be the beginning of more changes. All
he knew was he had to do it, no matter the risks he had to stand up for
the good, instead of the bad for once.
‘Its all going to work out dear." Ivy smiled as she walked down the
stairs.
"Yes, I suppose you’re right, but I was thinking, what if things go
differently then we expect?" Julian said his head down as he looked at
the floor.
"We will handle whatever happens." Ivy said as she walked up to him.
"But its the right thing."
Julian nodded. "Yes, I keep trying to remember that. This being good
thing is much harder than I anticipated though." He said with a slight
chuckle. "Thank goodness I have you by my side."
Ivy smiled as she leaned up to Julian her lips softly brushing his.
Pulling away she smiled. "I will always be by your side Julian, because
not only am I your wife, but because I love you."
"And I my beautiful wife, love you as well."
"I never thought we’d mean those words." Ivy laughed.
"Love is a funny thing Ivy, it changes a person completely wouldn’t
you agree."
"Oh of course. And I am so lucky to have you to love."
"Say that when this is all over." Julian teased reaching down to kiss
Ivy once more.

Pilar stared at the photo in her hand and frowned. "I’m so alone." She
said looking at the face. "Martin I need you now more than ever." She said
looking down at the face of her husband. "Luis is gone, forever gone from
my sight. And Theresa and Miguel are finding lives of their own." She wiped
a tear that had formed in her eye. "Why did you leave me? I raised these
children myself, and now I feel as if I’m facing the rest of my life by
myself. Is that fair to me Martin?"
Standing up she closed her eyes, she could clearly see him playing
with Luis in the yard, oh how she missed those times.
"Mama! Mama, Papa said he would take me and Hank fishing tomorrow!"
Luis squealed looking up at his father.
"I believe we can catch some big ones tomorrow." Martin explained.
"Do you think you can pack us a big lunch mama? Us men have to eat."
Luis bragged.
"Of course my son. But you better bring me back some fish back."
"We’ll do are best won’t we Luis?" Martin asked smiling down at his
son.
With huge bright eyes Luis looked up at his father. "Of course papa."
"Now you go wash up Luis, you’ve been playing in the yard for awhile
now."
"Yes mama." Luis said as he ran off.
"He’s a good boy Pilar." Martin said kissing Pilar’s cheek.
"Much like his papa." She smiled.
"Gone." She whimpered. "Its all gone now." Pilar said opening her eyes.
She had acted strong for her children, but after Luis’s death, the
feelings of her husband’s disappearance had resurfaced. Perhaps it was
the fact that another person had been ripped from her arms, whatever it
was it had left a sense of loneliness she hadn’t felt in awhile.
"If only you were here now Martin, if only."
