More men loved having a different woman night, but Matt's heart
was never far from Elise, even before they rekindled their romance. He
always judged each relationship that he had on the way that she made him
feel all of those many years ago. Today he was going to her place to
spend some time with his angel.

He got inside of the limo along with his mother. "I want to welcome her to the family, properly." They take off.
Suddenly, a drunk driver comes across the median and hits the limo on
the left side--Matt's side! BAM! BOOM! CRASH! SMASH! Glass is everywhere
and smoke too! "Eric! Where are you?"

Mrs. Mancusi reaches for him, but he's gone. She gets out of the car looking and to her horror he's
outside on the ground bleeding badly. "NO!! You're all that I have left!
Don't leave me!" She reaches out to touch him, to comfort him as he has
always done for her, "No! Don't touch him! We mustn't! I've already
called the hospital and they're on their way!"

Matt's lifeless body lies dangerously still on the cold pavement as the chaffeur covers him with a
blanket. "Dr. Ellen Burgess." Summoning her strength to say the words.
"It's our Eric...he's been in an accident. None of us were hurt except
him! I wish that it had been me instead! I'm with him now in the
ambulance. Elise, hurry! There may not be much time!" Finally, they
arrive and take him to the hospital. Ellen is in shock! She can't
believe that she might lose him again. "I won't lose him, not again!"

She grabs her coat and rushs to his side. Monica operates while Eve and
Joe assist her. After six long hours he is taken to his room. When he
gets there, everyone is surprised to see all of the lovely flowers that
decorate it. Matt lies so still like death has already taken him
captive. Ellen sits down beside him and takes his hand. She looks at his
wedding ring and thinks of how in just one more day should have put this
ring on his finger and she would have been the happiest woman alive, but
now her world is in a shambles!

"Matt, if you can hear me then you know how much I need you right now! You know how much I love you! Please come
back to me!" Ellen picks up his hand and gently slides the ring onto his
finger. She kisses his hand and holds it fast in hers. The many
scratches on his face and hands make her cry.

"It will take more than a drunk driver to keep me from you!" He says in almost a whisper. Ellen
looks up through tear stained eyes.

"Listen to me! I don't know how much time I have left, but I want to spend it with you. Find Minster Jones.
He and I work together with the kids. He's always here on Friday nights
around this time. Please, no buts, okay." She nods and when she returns
Minister Jones is with her...
